There isn't a single moment of her conscious life that Vera can recall in which her agouti familiar wasn't accompanying her. First in mind, then in body. Likewise, she can't recall a moment in which he didn't play the part of the calm to her storm. Fondue, as she nicknamed him when she was barely seven years old, isn't only her oldest and most loyal companion—he is an integral part of her identity, and survival. Where she is fidgety and reckless, he is cautious; a soothing, patient, logical presence keeping her from too getting into much trouble.
[break][break]
Not even all the love and trust in the world could strip the agouti familiar of his caution, however. Vera wouldn't learn of Fondue's true name until she was well into her adolescent years. She spent the following few days mouthing Caseus Bellona to herself, almost as a mantra. If her family didn't know better, they would have thought her lovesick in that moment.
[break][break]
Many small but distinctive traits differentiate Caseus Bellona from a common agouti. Perhaps the most conspicuous is the hazel glow to his irises, as opposed to stark black of his magicless lookalikes. At 47cm long, he is on the smaller range of his species, which only makes him all the more agile, both in and out of battle. A pair of rounded markings the color of well-aged cheese on either side of his face make him look like he's permanently flushing yellow.

[attr="class","itemcontainer"]TECHNIQUE: CLOSE QUARTERS This enables the witch to instantly create a ring of fire having a smallish radius with them at the center. They can use this to trap enemies or ward them away, but the size of the circle and the intensity and height of the flames depends on the skill of the witch. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]TECHNIQUE: WARMTH Another simple creation; the witch can warm the the general area. With training, the witch can increase the parameters and strength of the technique. A fledging may only warm the room or their hands, but very strong witches may be able to warm whole buildings and towns if they so wanted to. |

[attr="class","itemcontainer"]GENERAL: ILLUMINATION Inscribed in this scroll are directions for creating a source of light. Witches can brighten rooms and people, as well as make special effects such as a flare or highlight, making it a popular scroll in the entertainment sector. The illumination isn’t from fire or from actual light-manipulation but rather from magical enhancement of the mana. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]WINGUARDIUM LEVIOSA Allows the user to force anything into flight, provided it isn’t extremely heavy. Sometimes malfunctions against living beings, but it is easy to counter-spell in case things get out of hand. |

[attr="class","itemcontainer"]ALCHEMY: VILE CONCOTION What happens when you mix the feather of a Dark Tail and Grendel’s Mushroom in a beaker of boiling water, and let cool for a few minutes? According to Slyvia Yanus in her book The Alchemist’s Trade, you obtain a dark black concoction that can melt nearly anything and should only be kept in mana-reinforced vials. It’s safe to assume your alchemist as a few of these handy and even if they don’t, they have the knowledge to create this. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]ALCHEMY: VIAL OF THE HYACINTH allows the witch to recover from physical injuries or give to other witches to do the same. minor wounds are completely healed, and progress is shown on moderate wounds. major wounds or limb loss, however, can not be treated. this recipe seems to have existed since the dawn of time and alchemy. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]ALCHEMY: APHRODITE'S DUST A potion that enhances the beauty of the user, making them radiate a magical and gorgeous aura. unfortunately, it makes monsters highly attracted to the witch as well. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]ALCHEMY: SHEERFIRE DUST A potion that is highly unstable and explodes upon outside contact. the explosions are generally enough to cause burns, knock most witches off their feet and they are very very loud. |
[attr="class","itemcontainer"]SCROLL OF THE RECIPE THIEF While this scroll was originally published by Killian Marjane as a sarcastic response to Sylvia Yanus declaring him a recipe thief in one of her books, this has become one of the modern Alchemist’s favorite tools. Using this scroll on any object will give the alchemist an instant insight on its ingredients, or used materials. The more experienced the alchemist, the more useful this scroll becomes as they will be able to extrapolate more things from the information supplied. |

[attr="class","stafftempitem"]KNIGHT'S CREST A shining crest that bears the symbol of the Helios Knights. This object was given upon being accepted into the Helios Knights. Though it seems like a simple keepsake, this item will serve as your character’s lifeline in the face of imminent peril. When the bearer’s mana reaches critical levels, all items made similarly will begin to glow as a mass signal is sent to witches of your coven, allowing them to come to your aid should anything happen. May be used once to escape death. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"]FLAW FINDER named after the theoretical puck’s flaw, this one-time use talisman can sense illusions and dispel them immediately. to activate, it must be touched-- it helps prevent it from accidentally going off with jokester friends nearby. |
