☂Hawk's parents were pleased when they discovered that his affinity was for purification. He had done relatively well in practice with other skills, particularly alchemy, but it was clear he had a knack for dispelling mana. It suited him, anyways, so they signed him up for professional training as soon as he was done with grade school.[break][break]
☂Along other likeminded students, Hawk began learning and practicing the very basics of purification. There was something neat and methodical about it, and he excelled quickly, earning grades that could net him a high-paying career working for covens, hire, or as a personal butler. [break][break]
☂Joining Leviathan seemed like a no-brainer to Hawk. He could tell that his values and those of the Helios Knights did not correspond, and being the practical man that he is, he wanted to be able to make money from a variety of locations. Silvertongue was tempting in that regard, versatile and a great environment for a cleaner-for-hire, but Leviathan offered support and more opportunities to meet others.[break][break]
☂Not long into his time there, he was offered a job opportunity from a well-off family living near Venice Beach. They had a daughter they wanted him to keep watch over and "butler," as you will, and without looking too much into the details, Hawk accepted almost purely based on the paycheck and the fact that it offered a private living space. He made the mistake of assuming their daughter would maybe be a child - ten? eleven?[break][break]
☂The twenty-three year old Enrica Balefire was not who he was expecting to look after. She was an adult! But Hawk had already signed the contract, and it was magically as well as legally binding for at least a year. The witch was hopeful that since she was an adult, the job might be easier. As of today, that isn't the case.
