when they meet, they fight like age-old enemies, constantly at odds. chanel is every bit the rich daughter of he clan. she's pretty and spoiled, like her. but what makes her different is her love for tinkering. her affinity for messing around with objects. that's weird, molly says, at first, but so is runescripting. they take comfort in the fact that they're not like the other kids, that they're different and that's okay. they become fast friends after that. from then on, they're inseparable.

when chanel comes back, she's different. confident. pretty. better. she overtakes molly in everyway, and she's so far ahead that molly could never catch up. she doesn't know how to react. her family is burning into ashes behind her, the floor underneath breaks, and she nearly falls inbetween the cracks. chanel has everything she could ask for, and molly doesn't.

this never changes. her family recovers, but it takes time. to keep up her clan's prestige, she joins the helios knights. a prominent runescripter they say, but did you see the enchanter too?. every action is compared to chanel's, and molly is left in the dust, left to clean up the mess.

she is ever so grateful for chanel's friendship and support, but what happened in mirrorlight changes them, and she can't help but feel resentful.
