Avori Céleste Lémieux — a name hard to forget, forged from her powerful, ancient grandmother dating back to times she struggles to remember, and hailing from a widely-respected bloodline few would care to question, is a child born into the lap of luxury and nobility. Enjoying the status of a lineage remaining loyal to the Helios Knights time and time again was a thing she had come to enjoy, and despite the bit of corruption within the circles she ran in, her morality and sense of justice had yet to leave her, though this isn’t to say she’s any sort of saint. It was only natural of her to join the Knights’ ranks the moment she could — when she turned sixteen, to be precise — though sometimes she questions if her choice was out of obligation or of independent thought.
[break][break]
Regardless, she was always surrounded by lavish pursuits and this has led to her adopting an almost elitist attitude; being an only child did have it’s perks, especially for someone like her, and “treating herself” became a common occurrence, even if the reasons are far deeper than they may appear to be; is she truly a brat, or is there something hidden inside?
[break][break]
But, the Lémieux family was hardly known merely for their money, but for their blood; starcallers — true starcallers — were a rare occurrence, though it seemed the family possessed within them a special draw to the affinity. Of course, their numbers were still diluted, often going generations without producing any child with such a gift, and had not seen a witch with it being their natural affinity in the family for sixty-odd years, the longest they've ever gone without— that is, until Avori was born. Contrary to the now-popular belief of starcalling being a simple affinity strictly for amusement, the Lémieux family never treated it as such; every natural member, and even sometimes those who had decided to learn the craft, had a strong tendency to concentrate on the real power starcalling held.
[break][break]
Of course, there were exceptions, and the family has been known to branch off into the spotlight from time to time because of it, but no one would question their dedication to keeping the craft pure of such trivial pursuits; even if it was showy, there was still a hint of other possibilities present alongside the crowd-pleasing spells. Avori in particular always disliked the idea of degrading her power into a mere frivolity, instead focusing on the more serious aspects of the affinity, willing to push herself beyond her limits in order to unlock the potential she was naturally gifted with.
in spite of the uneven odds
beauty lifts from the earth
