Twenty-three years ago in the city of Sundial, a young man and a young woman fell in love. It’s a tale as old as time. The couple had met after working together for several years, and the young man, Patrick, finally worked up the courage to ask the woman, Paige, on a date. Patrick swept the girl off her feet and a year later they were married and a year after that they had a baby boy they named Parker. Seven years after that, Paige gave birth to another baby boy named Phillip. The four would live a happy, normal life in the city, the two boys without a care in the world.[break]

When Parker was fifteen, his parents left to go on a field study to analyze the magic of the country. Before they left, their mother told them that they’d be back “before the first leaf falls.” It was the last thing he would ever hear her say. After walking out the door, their parents were never seen again. Parker and Phillip waited for weeks for their parents, but Parker gave up hope when they were kicked out of their house. As a result, the two were forced to live on the streets, with Parker trying his best to provide for his younger brother.[break]

After a year of begging, stealing, and digging for scraps he finally had enough to rent an apartment for a month. The first week they stayed there, Parker realized that he needed to do something to get a steady flow of income. Begging and stealing was only going to get him so far and he was tired of being a street rat. So he started looking for jobs, but the easiest ones he could get were from shady characters. He would have to break into a store, steal items of importance, and even resorted to mugging people in alleyways. Sometimes it was for money, others it was to send a message. It wasn’t what Parker necessarily wanted to be doing, but he was good at it and it kept food on the table for his brother.[break]

This continued for about four years, until one day Phillip asked Parker how he kept making so much money. Parker realized that he didn’t want his brother to end up living the same kind of life. He wanted something better for Phillip. He had to do something normal, had to find something to do to set a decent example for his younger brother. Parker ended up on deciding to join the Jester’s Den in order to practice and study Augmentation and his brother quickly followed in his footsteps to join as well. To make money, Parker still does some shady business on the side, but has been trying to avoid it as much as possible. The last thing Parker needs is for Phillip to find out how he’s been making money for the past five years.
