It is not for a Transfigurer to have an ego, but Gallus did. [break] [break]
A man with a talent for casting his seed where others would tend to it, he was a master at dodging responsibility; and as the self-proclaimed "Man of a Thousand Faces", he found it simply delightful to do so. Coming from the bloodline of the infamous Rasputin the Wife-Thief, an illusionist who changed his last name in order to go into hiding, the Helios Knights were not keen on taking Gallus into their ranks; perhaps to reform him, but Gallus would chide back: "I'll behave". [break] [break]
This man was the conductor of circumstance, thus fitting why he is so represented here rather than Elijah, or even her brother Ishmael until he was 15 and had enough; he left in the night to work for the city to patrol the wall. Elijah, however, stayed, suffering during her youth because of the Casanova, who was her father by title only, and the many women turned mothers whose hearts he did not merely broke, but poisoned. Friends, though more importantly the children of these mothers would listen who learned much, especially on how to shun a mutt.
She would not be defined by namesake and parentage alone. Her brother may have left, so many women may have walked through her life, and Gallus may have at least tried to be a better father, but she resolved to raise above her origins, surpass the hand dealt to her even if she had no idea where to begin and only her wits to rely on. She did just so as an employee of a coffee shop, scraping together what she could, as she began to grow stronger, rising like the dawn out of the night that was her father's long shadow. [break] [break]
At 17, she would have enough to move from Gallus's house. She had no prospects of becoming the witch she was born to be, much to her familiar's chagrin out of fear of becoming just like her father. But it was her father that changed her mind, for you see justice is cruel in her punishments, and Gallus was unrepentant in his misogyny and wiles ... until he found Erinle, an enchantress true to her name as she caught his eye. His world spun, and for month Gallus attempted to appeal to Erinle, each day a new form. He forgot the boundaries of mana and his command over it, so used to being the conductor of circumstance and so un-used to the sincerity of Lady Erinle. Staying too long in too many forms, shifting like a chameleon trying to find a form to please her in his distress, in his want to be whole, he became a thousand faces. Though frightened, Erinle took pity on the creature that became Gallus and haphazardly made their way back to his abode. [break] [break]
It would be a lie to say that Erinle cared for the poor fool. She did not recognize him. And neither did the Helios Knights in his time of need, for he had cursed himself as he had been an accursed plague that blemished the Helios Knights. Elijah however saw her father, so changed and in a twisted kind of pain, and stayed with him, using her funds to buy the aid of witches to treat him. He seemed so different from his callous behavior as Elijah sat near him, as Erinle warmed to him. Perhaps he wasn't redeemable, for all the women he had hurt and children he left fatherless, so callous and insensitive. But he finally felt whole as he turned toward the feeling of family, living out the rest of his remaining days with quiet appreciation. [break] [break]
But Elijah would not let her father be defined by circumstance, just as she would not be. In the face of her changed and repentant father she swore she would heal him, change him back to his original form, whole and finally united with his daughter, as a family.
"If Not For Me,
then for the man who calls himself my father;"

And I will be the greatest healer in Salem."
