The Sundial Times
the empyreal cup
Decorations, fashion, and magical skill are all being put to their limits as Sundial gears up for another Empyreal Cup. The triennial event has taken Sundial by storm with the grand opening ceremony featuring a duel between High Priestess Trevil and Master Shephard. Fans are participants alike… [page 3]
The Fall of Yet Another...

Despite the danger, it was with a mix of trepidation and awe that saw the citizens of Sundial gathering as close as they could to the crumbling heirloom of a time long past. Another one of the twelve pillars of old was collapsing. History was dying and not even the Helios Knights’ own Medeia Trevil could stop it. The twelve pillars of Sundial City were once ago an integral structure created for the protection of a young witch settlement; the witches of old left the citizens the pillars - a legacy meant to be the foundation upon which our city could stand on. Thousands of years later, another pillar falls, marking the possible erosion of that innate protection. There was an overpowering sense of sadness striking every individual that witnessed the fall of the fifth of our city’s towers.[break][break]
Among the many present, Rowenna Shephard also made her way to the scene to watch the collapse of the pillar. When asked to comment on possible reasons for the collapse, she replied “…it is but dust and age. All structures collapse. It's only a matter of time." Master Shephard seemed confident that the collapse of the tower would be nothing more than a sad outcome of age. This is likely correct as the last pillar that fell was more than a thousand years ago.[break][break]
When approached, Medeia Trevil did not comment on the fall of the pillar or the implications of its fall. No answer was given when questioned if the Helios Knights would increase patrols should monster attacks become more frequent. How much the safety of the city depended on the pillars was not clarified despite questioning. Without official word confirming or denying the involvement of the pillars in the current safety of Sundial City, citizens can only wait to see how the events unfold in the coming weeks. Whether or not monster attacks suddenly rise, or Helios Knights patrols become more frequent, is still to be determined.[break][break]
The anxious murmurs that rippled through the crowd are only natural in the event of such a loss. With only two days before the Empyreal Cup, many of the bystanders wondered if this was an omen for such an event. Even the most skeptical of witches seemed to agree that it would dampen the exciting atmosphere that the Empyreal Cup tried to create.[break][break]
One thing is certain: a great piece of the city’s history has been lost. As the Helios Knights assisting Master Trevil begin to wheel away the dilapidated remains of one of the ancient twelve pillars, no one can escape the bittersweet sense of loss and luck to have been an onlooker to this historical event. Up to date, there have been no mentions of a plan to rebuild a new tower yet. With seven towers remaining, many seem to wonder how soon they will fall and if the story behind the pillars holds truth to it
Downtown Due for a Makeover
Perhaps it is because of the oncoming elections, but now several politically biased volunteer groups have been taking charge of attempting to fix several sewage leaks and shoddy road construction that have haunted the residents of Downtown Sundial for ages… [page 6]
The Red Streak: Explained
As explorers return from outside the gates, The Sundial Times was able to interview a few of the brave souls that ventured in a recent expedition as well as the medical professonals within the Helios Knights responsible for their rescue. As it turned out, a nearby village named Baeumains... [page 3]
