Valen is pretty normal-looking for a familiar, being only slighter larger than that of his species’ average size and having a similar coloration. The only difference aesthetically is the darker - almost black - feathers that adorn his wings, and the deeper, vibrant red of his chest. [break][break]
He’s normally seen without any armour or trinkets on, but at times does materialise with tail adornments - red feathers that seem to be stuck on with the help of a golden brooch - that contrast his shorter, dark tail feathers and a dark, obsidian helm.[break][break]
For what’s worth, he’s quite similar to the witch he belongs to, being an introverted individual who observes his surroundings and thinks before he acts. That is, unless said witch is in danger, in which case he tosses caution to the wind and will do whatever he can to protect him.
[break][break]While often quiet, he is more talkative among people and familiars that he trusts and likes and often worries for them even if it doesn’t always show in his even-toned voice.

[attr="class","inventorybody2"]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"]Technique: Shadow Stitching This technique allows the user to use part of their shadow to 'stitch up' wounds, most commonly and effectively on lacerations. The witch should practice this technique until they possess a steady hand in sewing. The shadowy threads last best if there are shadows to maintain them - in the presence of light, they will begin to dissipate and fade - though the strength of the caster should be taken into account. In addition, this type of repair is only temporary and best used as a means of stopping blood flow without much care to actual healing. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"]Technique: Shadow Bind By forcing an opposing shadow to remain stationary, the user can bind an enemy to a given spot. Can be ousted by SHADOW SEPARATION or LIGHT manipulators, or by delivering a poweful magical blast to the caster of the technique |

[attr="class","stafftempitem"]General: Winguardium Leviosa This scroll allows the user to force anything into flight, provided it isn’t extremely heavy. It sometimes malfunctions against living beings, but it is easy to counter-spell in case things get out of hand. |

[attr="class","stafftempitem"]Affinity: SCROLL OF VANITY This scroll enables a witch to turn any surface into a mirror, an object commonly associated with illusions. After the witch creates this mirror, they may manipulate its reflections (or rather, illusions) however they wish to confuse or misguide their target, or even attempt to create fear. However, the illusion is only sight-based and any witch that reaches out will quickly find that the illusion is a solid surface. Works best on large walls to truly put up a spectacle. Can also be used on normal mirrors. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"]Affinity: CELESTIAL PHANTASM #1: STARBURST SCROLL This scroll allows the user to conjure an illusion of a galaxy of stars surrounding the target. They can serve to impede someone's vision and confuse their sense of sight, or regale them with a bright, sparkling performance. |

[attr="class","stafftempitem"]Infinite Hourglass A magically enchanted, never-ending hourglass that fits in your palm. This object was given upon being accepted into Silvertongue. Though it seems like a simple keepsake, this item will serve as your character’s lifeline in the face of imminent peril. When the bearer’s mana reaches critical levels, all items made similarly will begin to glow as a mass signal is sent to witches of your coven, allowing them to come to your aid should anything happen. May be used once to escape death. |
