 blue moon you saw me standing alone | not for the first time, kasimir finds himself standing on the doorstep of a house with a cakebox in his hands, staring at the doorbell and wondering if he should simply set his burden down and leave before he is sighted. this is a bad idea. he looks down at the box of pastries, looks up at the neatly painted door, looks across to the bell, and looks down again. such a bad idea. in all honesty, he is not even supposed to know the location of saoirse's home - she has not, after all, given it to him; somehow, kasimir doubts hunting down and paying an information broker for the address of máire callaghan is an explanation that would be well received. he should really, really leave. but- and the weight on his conscience is not a pleasant burden to bear - but, saoirse had looked so shocked at her own words, at her inadvertent revelation, that he had not been able to merely put the incident out of his mind without at least an apology and a reassurance that her secret will not pass from his lips. he eyes the doorbell again. perhaps, he thinks with no real hope, perhaps his gift of a box of the pastries she had appeared to enjoy will at least somewhat contribute to appeasement. before he can spend another ten minutes lost in the nervous tangle of his own thoughts, kasimir knocks. and regrets it instantly. |
