The birth of Lugh was a result of the union between two prominent families, those of Hanniel and Scandon, who possessed a mastery over the arts of enchantment matched none, bestowing them the gift of manipulating not only the physical world of the outer strata, but breaking through into the unknown depths of the inner strata. They believed a child born of them would be a blessed one, gifted with unmatched potential and ability to succeed their legacy and blossom into their true successor. The hopes of their entire future rested upon the creation of this fruit and inheritance of their signature arts.
Their attempts to bear this sweet fruit required them to sow seed multiple times, producing three children each with their own unique talents. Their eldest son acquired a thirst for knowledge that was matched by none and so chose to pursue a life of academics from an early age, not showing a particular interest in their family tradition, instead staying on at an esteemed university as a respected professor and key lecturer. Their only daughter was adept at the social side of life and easily progressed through the ranks of the Helios Knights which, combined with a knack for business and the art of money-making, allowed her to blaze a trail in dealings with commerce. Their youngest son, Lugh, was the fruit they had so fervently wanted and upon the advice of the heads of the two families was carefully raised by their own standards so that his studies of their techniques would be optimised.
Growing up in an environment that dictated his actions restricted his own creativity, Lugh came to resent being told what to do and it ignited a flame of rebellion that burned ever brighter each day. It was fed even further by his visits to another boy, Brandt, who gradually became his best friend, an inseparable part of him. His mother and father, upon them realising how close he had grown to this boy and how happy he seemed to be when around him, defied the orders of the two heads of family to raise him with limited contact to others so he would grow dependent on the family’s advice and encouraged the two boys to meet often and fostered their relationship. With each year, Lugh became ever more headstrong, yearning for complete freedom, but knowing that if he did such a thing he would most likely be unable to see his best friend again, who had become his confidant and support.
As he reached the cusp of adulthood, thoughts of running from this captivity were strong in his mind as he had pieces together the family heads’ plans to use him as a figurehead to further their standing in the Helios Knights. Disgusted by their apparent disregard for his own wellbeing and their narrow minded want of power, a great hatred festered in his heart which led to him meeting a witch in a dark alleyway. She promised him refuge in Leviathan and promised him the revenge he sought after. Agreeing with this, when his mother and father were out on business, he wrote a note explaining his departure which he planned to leave for his parents - however, he found a bag laid out for him by his parents, having packed provisions and equipment for his travels, understanding that they had not been able to resist their own family’s wishes and so wanted to give him his own freedom, already guessing of his plans. With a renewed confidence, he met up with the witch from Leviathan once again, having severed all connections with his family, being accepted as a member of Leviathan upon his arrival.
