this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
The mysterious events which have been sensationalized as a "necromancer's attack" on Sundial (its true cause yet unknown), have heightened demands for military, Helios Knight, and mercenary presence. Meanwhile, the regular availability of hunters, trackers, and trainers is now in short supply. An influx of creature-related requests has gone out to all the covens in the weeks following the necromancer attack, prefixing the rescheduled Empyreal Cup final round.
[attr="class","stafftemptitle"] how it works
Seven threads have been started in various location across Salem, each associated with one request. There is no limit to how many total characters participate in each event thread, but there may only be one character per RPer per thread. The missions have each been ranked with a danger level, offering some rank suggestion / requirements:
[break]
Low Risk - Open to all. Hardly any risk of disfigurement. Not death enabled. Not modded by staff unless requested.
Medium Risk - Minimum witch rank of novice or fighting experience suggested. Potential for heavy injury, disfigurement, dismemberment, or lost/broken items. Not death enabled. Staff modded.
High Risk - Minimum witch rank of novice required. Minimum witch rank of adept and fighting experience suggested. Minimum of 3 characters per thread highly suggested. Death & disfigurement enabled. Staff modded.
??? Risk - No requirements. Staff modded. Might have character death or disfigurement -- might not.
[break]Staff modding will work a bit differently than it has in the past. Instead of "rounds", characters can post at their leisure (as long as they do not double post). Staff will post every 4 days (give or take a day) with an update that is just a few sentences. Though staff will provide large-scale statuses or turns of events, the players have the freedom to fill in the details. We're trusting you to not go overboard, so please don't destroy the entirety of Mirrorlight Metropolis with a swarm of burrowing dunewurms without asking first.
[break][break]Important note: Whether each of these missions is completed, participated in, or left entirely untouched will have a different influence on the world and/or future events, so choose wisely!
[break]Anyone who made at least 5 posts will receive a thread-specific item and the below bonus: [break]
+150 gold (300 gold total) [break]+5 AP (10 AP total)
[attr="class","stafftempstore"]
[break]Bonuses from the Sky Narwhal thread: [break]One of the babies went missing, and the normal caretakers were very upset when they found out. No bonus reward is granted.
[break][break]Bonuses from the Marbleflesh Mushroom thread: [break]Desmond GreyTsubaki Kokeshi [break]The alchemist would have preferred more mushrooms, but is impressed with the quality of what was supplied. [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] VIAL OF THE HYACINTH (4)[break] Allows the witch to recover from physical injuries, or given to other witches, allows them to do the same. Minor wounds are completely healed, and progress is shown on moderate wounds. Major wounds or limb loss, however, can not be treated. This recipe seems to have existed since the dawn of time and alchemy. (This potion was made by an acolyte-level alchemist. There are 4 uses remaining.)
[break][break]Bonuses from the Helios Gryphon thread: [break]aiden emerson @emery [break]The gryphon trainer is very impressed with your progress. [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] NPC TIE IN - HELIOS GRYPHONS You've bonded closely with one of the Helios Knights' gryphons. The gryphons will recognize you during site events, and may even show up to help you in dangerous situations in the Western Riverlands at staff discretion.
[break][break]Bonuses from the Emerald Carbuncle thread: [break]@jail raven delacroix [break]A messenger from your mysterious benefactor thanks you for finding such a rare gem for them, and they hope you'll agree to assist them in the future. [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] WOODWALKER NECKLACE This necklace reduces the presence of the wearer in forested areas or locations with a high density of plants. The wearer will not leave tracks, nor a scent trail, nor sounds of movement. They become difficult to notice even when they aren't actively attempting to hide. This even works on wraiths when in a wooded area, and is key to traversing the deepest parts of the wilds unharmed.
[break][break]Bonuses from the Mimic thread: [break]percival grayremesaoirse ó floinn [break] You receive a short thanks you for killing the mimic and retrieving its core (even though it's broken) by letter, with some odd rings in the envelope. [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] HELLCALL RING This ring is made from a dark metal, with an odd, gemlike material with an ever-moving smoke center as its centerpiece. At the will of the wearer, this ring can summon one hellhound a day. Hellhounds are a dog-like type of wraith, quick and vicious, and obviously distinct from normal dogs due to their shadowy aura. Once the hellhound is created, however, the wearer of the ring has no control over it, and it will begin attacking witches indiscriminately. The research of wraiths is heavily monitored by Salem's government, and items like this which intentionally summon wraiths are incredibly illegal. Be careful not to break the gem...
[break][break]Bonuses from the Burrowing Dunewurms thread: [break]Charani Petrovmaddox rothscus ✨ [break]You return to the sounds of cheering when you enter the city's walls. It looks like there was a large crowd was watching the fight transpire, and you're all treated to healing and drinks for your work. [break]You've unlocked a new location: Wurmglass Caverns in Mirrorlight Metropolis [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] BLANK MAJOR ENCHANTED WEAPON You may create your own major enchanted weapon. Please discuss the weapon's abilities with staff before approval, and include the name & description in the staff notification thread to have this item replaced by the item you created. Staff will pick a weapon for you if you'd prefer.
[break][break]Bonuses from the Lizardman thread: [break]Zephyr Hart @caleb heath ambroiseBilly Kasparian [break]The farmer and his friends at the bar listen to your story with great interest. Though it wasn't what they were expecting, it's a riveting tale to tell and quickly spreads through the town. [break]You've revealed a new location: Akwa Village in blackmoor swamp [break]
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] BLANK PERMANENT You may create your own permanent (or chose one which already exists). Please discuss the permanent's effects with staff before approval, and include the name & description in the staff notification thread to have this item replaced by the item you created. Staff will pick a permanent for you if you'd prefer.
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] PERMANENT CURSE - SNAKEFORM Once a month, you are forced to turn into a small non-venomous snake for 10 hours. You cannot speak in this form, but you retain your intelligence. (This acts as a permanent bought from the shop, and can be removed the same way)
