The third daughter of Erin and Malcolm Oliver, two fairly respectable Helios Knights. The kind someone could look up to as a standard of how a protector should behave. From Naomi's point of view, they were a perfect example that she had no hope of ever reaching.[break][break]
Whatever magical prowess her family possessed must have decided to skip a generation. She started developing later than the rest, and never seemed to make any progress. After a while, she gave up on becoming a Knight and wanted to do something she genuinely enjoyed. Acting.[break][break]
She really should have told someone before dropping out of school and joining a group of traveling performers. Might have avoided the resulting arguments. She only cared about getting away from her family, and didn't worry about any damage this would leave behind.[break][break]
That was a decade ago. Took her that long to get over her own insecurity, at least enough to send an apology letter. Ideally, the message would arrive first so her sudden appearance at their doorstep wouldn't give them a heart attack. Not that she needed a warning, the decision to do so ended up working in her favor. There wasn't any time to say those words in person. By the time she reached Sundial, both of her parents had passed away.[break][break]
Both of them were nearly seventy years old, and at least got to enjoy a few years of retirement. After the funeral services, she abandoned her traveling lifestyle, more concerned with reconnecting with the remaining family members.[break][break]
For a while she had no job and nothing better to do besides sitting around getting drunk. Ended up helping with the organization of her parents belongs, clearing out their old rooms.[break][break]
This was where the problems began.[break][break]
Judging from the documents found in a secret compartment, her parents were spying on several different covens--including the Helios Knights. It honestly didn't make a whole lot of sense. She almost wrote the whole thing off as a piece of fiction and moved on. Turns out, life had other plans.[break][break]
Before she said anything, someone broke in and stole all of the files. Naomi knew that no one would believe her without any evidence. She wouldn't. The odds of parents dying peacefully had started to decrease, and she didn't want to casually involve other people if this ended up being dangerous.[break][break]
These circumstances lead to her trying to join one of the covens involved. Leviathan happened to be the most compatible personally. Plus, they probably knew more about the legal ones than those guys knew about Lev. It was more efficient this way.[break][break]
She needed information. Maybe her parents were secretly anarchists and got caught being shady. Or the opposite. There were too many options for her to just sit around and guess correctly. A lot could've happened in those last ten years.[break][break]
If everyone ended up being innocent, she simply had to leave town again. She already vanished once, how hard would it be to disappear again?
