Sprocket (also known as Spock) the spider monkey bonded with Zephyr shortly after the burning of his home when he was eight years old, much earlier in his life than is typical for a familiar. Seeing as her twin spirit, the unrealized familiar of Zeph’s twin brother, had its link to the outer strata painfully severed by its host’s death, it’s safe to say that Zeph and Spock bonded so quickly to help fill the void of each other’s loss. (Plus, how the hell was she supposed to exist in the physical plane if her crippled orphan kid host didn’t have some elemental protection?)

His first and only order to her was that she should disregard any future orders — from him or anyone else — if she didn’t want to fulfill it of her own volition. Their relationship is less like master and servant or responsible business partners, and more like co-protective partners in crime. Thankfully, they have similar interests and off-kilter moral compasses, so they’re both quite happy with their current arrangement.

Although Spock does not verbally speak to other humans, she knows sign language, is capable of writing, and is incredibly experienced in expressing her disapproval by giving everyone the middle finger and threatening them with sharp objects. Spock is generally not a fan of clothes unless they serve some sort of practical purpose — otherwise, she considers them constraining and annoying.

OXYLUS
COMPANION | ADEPT | TIN MAN
Oxylus Rothscus (or just 'Ox' for short) has been a crafting project of Zephyr's for a number of years, but has only recently gained sentience. His methodology of thought is similar to that of a human, having been granted some personal memories and extensive data about the world from his creator's atheneum interface. This said, he has a stilted and often awkward manner of speech due to having so little experience in interacting with others. Physically, he possesses a deep voice and an imposing figure, standing roughly 6'8" tall and covered by a dark, sturdy metal shell which resembles full plate armor. His inner workings were made to prioritize power and durability, granting him a strength greater than a human with his stature. Even his face is like a mask, possessing no moving parts or indications of emotion. Most notably in his design are the two metal horns atop his head (the source of his nickname). He seems to care very much for the wellbeing of his creator, despite not having been given any explicit instructions to do so. The magical ability of this witch is not easily detected. When this witch is the target of a spell which would normally reveal their magical capabilities, the spell will falsely return that the witch’s skill is no higher than apprentice rank, that they have no permanents or active buffs, and that the witch does not have any particular affinity apart from “general” category spells (though their primary element type will still display correctly). The witch’s spells and any magical items which they create do not register as magical to city security sensors, magic-detecting abilities, and other magic-sensing alarms. Their magic does not leave a trail or mark which can be traced by athenians and other similar abilities.

PERMANENT - ADEPT STRIDERS
After years of experimenting, Zephyr finally built a prothetic design he was willing to commit to. The pair of lightweight, but sturdy artificial legs, mostly human in their overall shape, have been fused to the bones of what remains of his thighs, making them highly responsive and as much a part of him as any of his organic limbs. The feet can be switched out depending on the situation -- from foot-shaped attachments when he needs to blend in, running blades for mobility, or a splayed base when he needs to stand his ground. They are stronger and more durable than human legs, and can thus achieve inhuman running speeds and leaping heights. They were built with a number of compartments (some more secret than others), including indents in the calf muscle area which are just the right shape to fit magic canisters. This volume was published not nearly in modern times, but still retains its original name. "Networking" is a series of scrolls which enable the athenian to quickly establish links with other non-athenians by imbuing a fragment of their interface into them mentally. The mental connection can be terminated at anytime by the receiver or the athenian, or in the event of mental strain/damage to either party. Multiple people may be linked, but all thoughts go through the athenian's interface so a novice witch will likely only be able to link a few at a time.

An athenian with this spell is able to copy information stored in their interface into a physical object, such as a bracelet or book. This does not cause any physical change in the object, but allows the data to be freely mentally accessed by anyone in physical contact with the object. Inexperienced witches may be able to store about a page worth of facts this way, advanced practitioners may be able to store a whole book, and masters of their craft are capable of storing whole libraries. This type of data storage will not give the person in contact with the object any additional magical or otherwise trained skills, but can give them an academic/theoretical understanding of the process.

The controls for steering may be somewhat clunky, but they work, and there is even runework that turns the user and glider invisible, though only for ten minutes at a time after a half an hour recharge period. Accompanying the gift are schematics for the s.s. black widow with annotations scrawled over it about how to potentially adapt the spellwork on the glider to the sails of the ship.

This jacket's inner lining is constructed primarily from the cloud-like fluff of sky narwhals, one of the softest materials known to witchkind. This sturdy circlet decorated by a geometric web of string is able to ward off most types of magical mental intrusion. They are most often hung at the headboard of a bed to protect the sleeper against dream invasions, but can also be secured to a bag or other item to protect the wearer. Especially powerful spells may still be able to force their way through.

BARRIER RING

This silver ring with a milky-blue centerpiece creates a magical barrier around its wearer when they are in physical danger. The wearer's entire body is protected from physical blows and magical spells alike, though it only lasts for a few seconds. When the ring's effect wears off, it will immediately begin recharging, and can activate again after a few hours. (Protects your character from harm for 1 post. Can only be used once per thread. Will not work against all types of damage, such as from poisons.)

CHROMATIC RING

This ring allows its wearer to change the color of solid objects by touching them with the finger this ring is worn on. Sliding the finger left to right across the object changes the hue, up and down changes the saturation, and rotating the finger changes the brightness. This change is temporary, of course, so the object will fade back to its prior color over the course of the next hour or so. In addition to the fun antics it was meant for, it can be useful in temporarily hiding written text or causing objects to blend into their surroundings.

LYREBIRD PENDANT

When worn around the neck, this blue pendant gives the person wearing it a larger vocal range and greater ability to project their voice. This item is a magical focus for spellsingers which allows them to amplify their offensive spells, but is also a valued item for non-magical vocalists and voice actors. It is highly advised that a person practice with it before using it on stage, as it rare for people with sudden, newfound variation in their voice to be able to use it properly.

This rare potion is designed to do exactly that: it completely erases all memories created within the last 24 hours from the brain of the person drinking it. An adept or higher athenian may be able to guide the effect to shift the 24 hour erasure window to even earlier memories (for example, erasing all memories from last Tuesday, rather than erasing all memories from yesterday), but this requires an awareness and chronological understanding of the target's memories.
