The Godfrey Family is one of the more prestigious family in Salem. Birthing many legends like Solace Godfrey, also known as the Thunder Empress, Spencer Godfrey, the Crimson Riot, and Meadow Godfrey, the Black Widow, Cain Godfrey was just another one of his generation, destined for greatness. However, unlike his siblings, Cain never did well with trying to meet the expectations placed on him by another. Born with a love for freedom, what Cain really wanted was to make his own decisions, and decide a fate for himself, without having to resort to using his family name to get what he wanted. It was a rebellious act that shaped the entirety of his being, with the red-haired Godfrey seeking to match the feats of his ancestors in his own way and pace.[break][break]
It was for that reason that Cain was ostracized by the elites of the family, seeing him as the 'trouble child' or the 'black sheep'. In short, Cain grew up neglected, the entirety of his parents' focus turning instead to his older brother, and younger sister. Though Cain held no ill will towards his siblings, he nonetheless found it an uncomfortable setting to grow up around. He ate away from the dinner table - not by choice - and was never called out for family gatherings or outings. He was the shame that his parents wanted to hide, in a manner of how a child would ignore the imaginary scratching sounds in his closet and it would eventually disappear.[break][break]
It did not take Cain long to grant them that one wish. When he turned eighteen, the self-taught red-haired rebel left the family home, and proceeded to live in the suburban areas of Salem. One-room apartments, second-hand clothing, buying or lifting food from road stalls, Cain transitioned from living in shadowed luxury in the Godfrey Mansion, to clawing for scraps in the streets. He worked labor jobs, construction, courier services, protection, anything, really, that raked in the bills. In short, Cain threw himself into the dump, to adapt and learn how to survive in one.[break][break]
Street smarts became his greatest weapon, but even that would not be able to bring him any closer to his goal of self-made glory. Despite using their last name, Cain would disassociate himself with his family, seeking to drive the message that even without the Godfrey Family's method of breeding perfection, one could still match up to them. And it would be the one they labelled as the shame of the family.
i won't just be a footnote
i'll make my own chapter
