Fate had been unkind to them the moment from their birth and when their life was casted aside into the control of others, fate had only proved to be more cruel to them; their childhood was something they could never indulge in. Despite the well intentions of a system meant to foster children, the orphanage seemed to care little for them– a system that lashed out at them without remorse. It was common to feel hunger cling onto them, it was something that she had grown used to though her sister was always determined to right the wrongs done by cruel hands; occasionally stealing food away in hopes that they could both eat. [break][break]
It was at the young age of twelve when both siblings decided to break the control from uncaring hands, reigning in their own fate and determining that their lives would have been far better on the streets. Hardships would arise though both siblings would learn to appreciate them, taking their young lives one stride at a time; it was a moment in their lives where Lucena had truly felt alive alongside her sister. Years would dwindle past them and while their lives had been tremendously better under their own control, the streets proved to be difficult for them; dismissed and tossed aside just the same as the orphanage had. [break][break]
Lucena would struggle to better themselves like her sister though it was hard to ignore the suspicious influx of supplies brought home by Astartia and the heavy feeling that it brought with it. It was fourteen when fate would begin to lead them towards a kinder life though the two would still have to persevere through the difficulties. She sought refuge in Eclipse Town despite harrowing rumors that would be passed around. Like her sister, Lucena hoped that the small community would prove to be their safe haven; a refuge from their constant struggles. [break][break]
Neither knew where the small town lied though both were aware of the forest that it was nestled in, it was troubling at first to survive in the woods, yet she picked up onto her own craft– scouting. She would be self-sufficient alongside her sister, growing accustomed to the hunter-gatherer lifestyle the two had adopted for a year; it was a lifestyle she felt safe with compared to the struggles she knew before. It was the arrival of a woman in the night that would break the cycle, attracted to the flame of a lit fire; it was the refuge the two had so desperately fought for throughout their lives despite the action being out of pity. [break][break]
The two would thrive under the protection of the small town up until the age of nineteen, their aspirations far too large to be maintained by such a small town. It would be difficult for Lucena on the day they would part from the town, but the two bid farewell to the one place that had treated them right; they were determined to take on the challenges Sundial had to offer them.
