this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

[attr="class","salvatore"]"But if you think it's likely for him to come out and approach us, then I have something that could catch his attention. First we need to find out where he is."
Cain blinked, cocking an eyebrow as he turned towards Anthony. Did he have an idea? Well, guess it was time to see just how competent and resourceful the blonde boy could be. If there was one thing that Cain valued most, it was efficiency and contribution. Even if his attitude was annoying, if he could prove to be able to hold his own weight and get things done, then Cain would have no complaints about pairing up with him once more. After all, it was success that earned him money, not self-satisfaction. Cain then watched with curiosity as he wandered over to a nearby tree, before poking something upon it. He tilted his head. What was that?
And then, it came into view. A small furry creature that seemed to have just woken up, stretching its body before leaping onto a tree from his head. So, that was his familiar, hm? Was that a ferret? So, that was his plan, hm? He grinned. That was certainly one way to make use of their familiars. When the question was offered to him, then, he glanced towards the house, and then back at Anthony. "Sure," he answered simply, as he reached for his jacket. Pulling it open, then, he glanced down at the chest pocket on the inner layer of his signature article of clothing. "Hailey?"
And from that call, a small head would suddenly stick out from the bulging pocket. She had red and orange feathers, a mix of it making her look like she was on fire, with a thin bill for a beak, and beady eyes. She stared up at Cain, before looking at Anthony, lowering her beak as if to bow in greeting. "Think you could find our person?" The hummingbird would hop out of the pocket, a place she had come to call her mobile home, and perched onto the fabric of his jacket, holding tight with her talons. Shyly nodding her head, then, she spread her wings, and began to flap it as she hopped off his jacket, hovering in the air, as hummingbirds were famous of being capable of.
And with that, Hailey darted off towards the windows.

The sight of a tiny creature flying out of Cain's pocket caused Tony's eyes to grow wide. "That's a cool familiar! Cooler than mine even."
"I heard that."
Tony grinned as he threw a smug glance at Loki, who snorted as he continued walking along the branch. The hummingbird - or Hailey as Cain called her - went up towards the windows as well.
As their two familiars began their search, Tony walked back to Cain and stood beside him while he watched Loki make his way higher, towards the lit up window. For all his teasing, he found Loki quite indispensable. The polecat has always been handy when it came to stealth missions, and served as his constant watch for any suspicious activity. Even though Cain's familiar would probably find their target quicker, he knew without a doubt that Loki could have done the same thing had he been on his own.
And they did find the target in the lit-up room. Loki reported that he was all alone, with the door closed - though he didn't know if it was locked. Looking at the tree, Tony could see that going up the same way that Loki did would give him a good view of their targeted room.
Nodding, Tony turned his gaze to Cain. "Our man's up there all right." He passed the package into the other man's hands and started stretching his limbs and fingers. "I'm an illusionist. Once I get up that tree, I'm going to cast an illusion on his wall and tell him we're out here. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show."
As a kid, Tony enjoyed climbing up trees, rooftops and fences. The skill carried over to his present life, useful whenever he needed a sneaky way in or out.
Once he stood in front of the tree, he bent his knees, swinging his arms for momentum, and jumped. He easily grabbed hold of the same lowest branch that Loki hopped onto earlier. Gritting his teeth, he hoisted his body up, lifting one leg over to pull his entire body on the branch. Then slowly, but surely, he began making his way towards where Loki was.

[attr="class","salvatore"]A soft humming sound could be heard as Anthony complimented Hailey, and though it may have just been Hailey's wings flapping hard, Cain knew it was, really. She was embarrassed. She never did do well with compliments, or socializing at that. The fact that Anthony had thrown one at her direction only made her flustered, and Cain was rather surprised that she hadn't burst into flames already. See, that was what Hailey did whenever she was too agitated or embarrassed. Her feathers would just set ablaze, becoming a small fireball with the capability of darting in every so direction.
"Cain?" Hailey called out, then, establishing a telepathic link with her witch. The red-head blinked, before raising his chin to look up at the hummingbird, as it hovered in front of the lit window. "He's here..." she muttered, almost a whisper, but loud enough for Cain to decipher what it was she was telling him, and the fire witch nodded his head. "Okay, good job," he complimented with a soft smile, as he opened his jacket again. Recognizing the gesture, Hailey eagerly rushed back into the pocket to calm down, not expecting so many compliments to come her way at such a short period of time. It seemed that Loki had found the same information, for Tony would come to Cain with the same information he had.
The package was then handed over to him, and Cain cocked his eyebrows. What was he thinking of doing now? Anthony then explained his plan of action, and he narrowed his eyes, slightly unimpressed. What was with witches and always wanting to flaunt their magic all the time? Of course, this was Cain from the slums talking. He knew how important magic was to the people in Sundial City. Hell, one's magic could pretty much be compared to their worth as an individual. That was the mindset of the Godfrey family, and it was for that reason that they had been trained from a young age in magical arts.
Too bad Cain never really took interest in the training. He wouldn't be doing these jobs if he had. What he learned from the slums was resourcefulness, and it was exactly what he'd prove here. As Anthony began to climb the tree, Cain bent down and picked up a small stone from the ground, pinning the package between his left arm and his torso. Then, bouncing the pebble in his right hand, he looked up at the window, took aim, and with a simple throw, tossed the rock over at the window. It bounced off with a soft clang, doing the exact same job that Tony had been attempting to do.
"Here," Cain called out, tossing the package up at Tony once he had gotten onto his branch. He could probably reach their client from there.
[newclass=.salvatore]padding-top:10px;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;font-size:11px;color:#2b2b2b;font-family:calibri;text-align:justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.salvatore b]color:#800517;[/newclass] [newclass=.azotar]font-family:'Iceland';font-style:normal;font-size:22px;font-weight:400;color:#F70D1A;text-align:center;-webkit-transition: all .5s linear;-moz-transition: all .5s linear;-ms-transition: all .5s linear;-o-transition: all .5s linear;transition: all .5s linear;[/newclass] [newclass=.azotar:hover]color: #800517;-webkit-transition: all .5s linear;-moz-transition: all .5s linear;-ms-transition: all .5s linear;-o-transition: all .5s linear;transition: all .5s linear;[/newclass]
While scooting closer and closer towards the targeted window, Tony caught sight of a stone hitting the window and clattering as it fell down. He froze and glanced around frantically - half expecting someone else to suddenly pop their heads out to see what was going on. Even if the noise had been miniscule and soft, it sounded like a loud crash in his ears.
With no one else around the area, it was clear who had thrown the stone. Tony narrowed his eyes at Cain, hissing in panic. "Are you crazy?! What if someone else heard that? We might as well have knocked on their door and announced ourselves! Hey - " As soon as he saw the package tossed in his direction, he stopped talking.
Eyes wide in fear, he stretched out both hands and cast his spell to have it fly towards his hands smoothly. His heart was thudding against his chest at a hundred beats per minute as he clasped the package to his chest. "Stars and Stones Godfrey! Give a guy a longer warning than that!"
At that moment, the sound of a sliding window reached his ears. He glanced up just in time to see an older man stick his head out in apprehension. As soon as Tony met his eyes, he sighed and casually gave him a two-finger salute. "We have come to deliver your package sir."
There wasn't even any word of gratitude or acknowledgment. Without warning, the older man held a hand out and the package flew out of Tony's hands. In his surprise, Tony tried to reach for it and ended up sliding to one side. Gritting his teeth, he wrapped his legs tightly around the branch as he fell and hung upside-down for a brief moment. It didn't take him long before he lost grip and fell right onto the bushes beside the tree.
Their client disappeared, the windows closing shut with a soft snap. Afterwards the lights went out and that seemed to be the end of that.
"Well, that went better than expected." This was followed by a groan as Tony continued lying sprawled on top of the shrub. "For a second, I thought I was going to die."

[attr="class","salvatore"]Cain just stared up uncaringly towards Tony as he began his lecture, berating him for his choice of actions. There wasn't going to be anyone else around, and no one was going to see them. Of that, he was sure. Unbeknownst to Tony, he had gotten Hailey to check on the other rooms of the building and he had confirmed that most of the other patrons were either absent or dead asleep. No one would hear the sound of a single small rock hitting a window - which could have been anything, really - from a room that the window wasn't even connected to. Despite that, he had chosen not to tell Tony. For some reason, he wanted to see the man annoyed, as Cain completely disregarded his instructions. Something that Tony had almost done just a few moments earlier. As if to add salt to the wound, Cain reached into his pocket and pulled out another cigarette, before popping it in his mouth. He didn't light it, though. He just wanted Tony to think he did.
"Oh, sorry," Cain muttered back passively as Tony then moved to the topic of his warning before the throw. "Watch out. I'm gonna throw the package up at you. Catch it," he added on, almost lazily as he tilted his head. And almost mockingly, he curled the corner of his lip into a grin. The window would swing open, then, silencing Tony, and Cain as well, as the smirk faded. His golden eyes placed the man in view, and watched carefully and cautiously as Tony offered the package to him. Just like the hooded man, no word spoken, no gesture returned. He simply reached forward, and beckoned the package over to his side using magic.
In his shock, Tony almost fell off the branch, hanging upside down now. Not even giving a care or an apology, the old man shut his window, as if now disregarding both of their existence now that they had exceeded their usefulness. Cain frowned. Shady old men and their secrets. It always bugged Cain. However, he knew that his attention was needed elsewhere, as Tony struggled to stay hanging onto the branch. It didn't take him long to fail, and he fell back down to the ground, landing in a bush. Cain blinked, scoffing in amusement. Giving one last glance towards the window - and noticing that the lights had been switched off now - he turned his attention over to the blonde in the bushes.
"Really, Tony? It wasn't even two floors high, you drama queen," Cain teased as he stretched a hand out towards him, offering to help him up on his feet.
[newclass=.salvatore]padding-top:10px;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;font-size:11px;color:#2b2b2b;font-family:calibri;text-align:justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.salvatore b]color:#800517;[/newclass] [newclass=.azotar]font-family:'Iceland';font-style:normal;font-size:22px;font-weight:400;color:#F70D1A;text-align:center;-webkit-transition: all .5s linear;-moz-transition: all .5s linear;-ms-transition: all .5s linear;-o-transition: all .5s linear;transition: all .5s linear;[/newclass] [newclass=.azotar:hover]color: #800517;-webkit-transition: all .5s linear;-moz-transition: all .5s linear;-ms-transition: all .5s linear;-o-transition: all .5s linear;transition: all .5s linear;[/newclass]
The sound of approaching footsteps made Tony tilt his head at an awkward angle to get a good look at Cain as he moved closer. He pouted, pointing up at the tree for emphasis. "Why don't you fall off a tree and see if you wouldn't feel the same! I saw my entire life flashing before my eyes in that brief moment. I regretted not accomplishing so many things in my life yet." If it wasn't for Cain's hand appearing in his view he would've droned on and on.
With a pause, he grabbed for the hand and flailed his arm and legs as he struggled to get back to his feet in an ungainly manner. A few leaves got stuck in his head, and his clothes had a few scratches and cuts on them from the tiny branches. Once he was up Tony inspected himself, twisting his body this way and that to check, and groaned at what he saw.
"Man, mom's gonna kill me if I asked her to stitch this up again." It didn't look that bad, so he was going to leave it that way for now. The challenge was in hiding the state of his clothes from both parents and siblings.
Finally free, and with their mission a success, he looked back at Cain and grinned. "Well, that went better than I thought. Job well done to the both of us!" Throwing an arm around Cain, he'd try to lead him away from the residential area and back to their coven, where they could cash in on their mission.
"For a first-timer, you did pretty well. If you find any other shady jobs like that, feel free to look for me at the keep." He wasn't one to find faults in others and hang onto them. Since nothing bad happened when Cain threw those stones at the window, he took it in stride and accepted it as it was. And strictness aside, Cain was a reliable and efficient partner to have.
[attr="class","azotar"][googlefont="Iceland:400"]i am not your rolling wheels, i am the highway
[attr="class","salvatore"]"Been there done that," Cain replied simply, sighing in disbelief as he stared down at his partner. He was making such a big deal out of falling off a tree, but at this point, Cain wasn't entirely surprised he was doing just that. It seemed just like Anthony to make a big deal out of everything, from his curiosity on the package's contents, to throwing a rock at the window, which had done the desired job with almost no hassle at all. Helping the man up onto his feet, Cain would take a step back, giving him space to do whatever clean-up he desired to do, not wanting any of the leaves or dirt to be flicked over at his direction. He eyed the man down from head to toe, scoffing. Just how fragile was his clothing to be so torn apart from falling into bushes like that?
He felt somewhat fortunate now for his rather sturdy leather jacket, a gift he had received from his sister during one of the last birthdays he celebrated in that household. Cain then tilted his head, waiting for Tony to be done. His mother? Well, wasn't he just lucky he had someone to clean up after him. He had been forced to pick up life skills on his own, with nothing but memories of watching the servants doing them to go by. Trial and error had been his way of life for the past years, but it had served him well, and Cain was now independent enough to live on his own, even in a place as hostile as the slums.
Cain then cocked an eyebrow. "What? Did you think that we were going to fuck up somehow? Well, you almost di--" he was cut off then as Tony placed his arms around his shoulder, causing the red-head to slump over slightly from the unexpected weight. He blinked, looking over at him, before frowning lightly. "What are you doing?" The man never answered, simply pulling Cain out of the area and back towards the direction of their coven headquarters.
"For a first-timer, you did pretty well. If you find any other shady jobs like that, feel free to look for me at the keep."
Cain blinked, before sighing. A right hand came up, pressing against his temple as he scratched his scalp. Running his fingers back through his hair, then, he gave a defeated sigh. "Fine, as long as you don't pull any shit like betraying the client again," he snapped back.
