The Akamatsu clan had seemingly wiped themselves off of the face of Salem; always shrouded in a cloud of enigmatic air and undeniable power, they have far more influence than thought possible. Trained from childhood in espionage, trickery, and the art of the Akamatsu blade very few could master, they were a people of ruthless tactics and bred as excellent statisticians. Possessing a natural eye for turning tides in their favor has granted them great power and riches, though despite their successes, they remain a distant memory — forgotten, though never disbanded.
[break][break]
Operating under various names, they could never be tracked down — nor could they be cornered. It comes as no surprise that, upon the birth of Kasumi Akamatsu, hailing from the bloodline of the feared Okazaki Akamatsu — or, as they called him, the White Dragon — she was treated with the expectation of becoming one of the greats of the clan. She was drilled in hand-to-hand combat, not with brute strength, but with opportunistic and agile blows, taking advantage of a misstep or excessive force to knock an opponent off kilter or twist around and leave the space before them empty. Her training furthered into stealth, strategy, and honed her instinct of self-preservation — thus nurturing a skill for identification of an unfavorable situation and calculation of a suitable escape plan.
[break][break]
It wasn’t long before the blades came into her hands; having shown unparalleled proficiency and prodigal ability by the young age of thirteen, it was only natural she be shown the art the Akamatsu were known for, and an art that only few members had the power to use to it’s maximum potential. There were rumors of magical influence casted upon the weapons, preventing the use of the blades to reach their true lethality, as though some force was found in them which remained inaccessible — or so it seemed.
[break][break]
Regardless, Kasumi took the blades in stride — they were unlike a mere sword, more akin to shurikens; made of high-quality carbon steel, easily hidden on one’s person, and readily accessible to turn the tides of battle rendered them a fearsome weapon; one peculiar thing to note is that, once mastered by an individual, they receive an individual, unique set of blades which have the tendency to return to their owners when “called.” This is due to a magical enchantment practiced in the clan for many years to ensure that the blades never go into the hands of others, and that their owners always have something to fight with. They are to be used with utmost precision, and, though it took her three years to master their use, Kasumi earned her title of the White Widow — a woman to be feared, respected, and to remain inscrutable — at the age of seventeen, the youngest of the clan to do so. It is unknown what exactly she does, why she does it, or how she operates; the only recognizable part of her is her mark, her call sign, and her skill.
[break][break]
It is for this reason that Kasumi does not reveal her face — or any defining features, at that — when operating, nor does she ever speak her last name; she either glosses over such a thing entirely, or gives a multitude of surnames at her disposal.

No one knows her.
