A hum of laughter vibrated throughout the air, adding a small ting of sweetness to the already busy park. A small group of children pranced across the field, singing the newest song their parents had taught them. Phillip, being the shining star of the group, led this band of smiling kids with the widest grin conceivable. This was often the scene that would greet any pedestrian who dared to walk anywhere remotely close to this daily spectacle. Many would lust their pure innocence, but in reality, moments like these were the only time the boy would feel even a smudge of importance. This wanted feeling allowed his heart to swell up with joy - especially whenever his brother stood witness to his leadership.

His parents, Patrick and Paige Park, were both locally known magic researchers. Their field of study generally revolved around analyzing magic throughout Salem and the effects it may have to the environment. Usually the job they were granted would've be swooshed off to a more renowned duo of researchers, but for whatever reason, it ended up in their hands. Probably for the worst. "We'll be back before the first leaf falls" His mother whispered into his hair, reassuring the disquiet eight year old.

It was all rubbish.
Throughout the next year the brothers spent their lives living off the grit of their teeth. Food scraps were all they could afford, and the best shelter they could scout out was a thrown out cardboard box - things were tough. However, for reasons unknown to Phillip, his brother somehow conjured up enough money to purchase a low class apartment. It wasn't anything fancy - rats littered the floor and almost every piece of furniture had nearly collapsed into pile of old fragments - but it was certainly better than the cardboard box. So they were content.
[break][break]
One day, while walking back to the apartment, Phillip noticed a small plant growing through the cracks of the sidewalk. It's stem had slithered out from the ground, barely reaching to the surface, like a stretched out hand pleading for help. While the plant displayed no qualities outside of ordinary, for whatever reason, Phillip found himself drawn to it. He had discern a particular difference between it and the previous plants he has met before: he could communicate with it. All the emotions it felt - he could sense it. Like a light tingle curling up within his entire body.
[break][break]
At that point it was decided: "I AM THE LORAX: SPEAKER OF THE PLANTS!"

With a elegantly crafted theme song at hand, the child continued to skip back to his brother, ready to reveal the magnificent experienced he had just went through. Parker wasn't as amused. He never was. (probably too upset over his name still) Phillip then decided to continue learning about this peculiar phenomenon - later known as plantshaping. Of course he didn't master anything extravagant, but he grew to adore all forms of life itself. Soon enough, the pipsqueak brewed an excellent idea in his mind: to start a garden. The garden was said to be small, due to the limited balcony space they had at this point, but still large enough to house the most ravishing flowers imaginable.
[break][break]
And the garden turned out great! (Minus the time he spilled soil all over the living room) "Hey there planties, I'm the Lorax! I'm basically the mayor of this lil flower town here!" Was the greeting he'll give to every sprouting bulb that would appear above the mount of soil. Phillip always wanted them to feel welcomed, after all.
[break][break]
Eventually, Phillip was able to meet a variety of different plants once his brother became entangled with the Coven Joker's Den. He joined too, but that was only because the thought of being even remotely like his brother was beyond cool to him. And thus, the legend of the Lorax was born.

And Thus Plant-kind Was Saved
