this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
The stars, they're all so bright at night. The millions of them littering the skies as the night settled in. What time could it be no one knows. For all to care -- to look at the stars, there is only one place to be and that place is where Allison's heart sang. This was the observatory. Although the night was well settled, she took her time to look around the observatory, inspecting the mechanics that were there. The large telescope pointing to the sky was ancient, but even this observatory has certain fundings to make this place flourish and thrive.
She was homesick, at this time of night. When she could never sleep and her mind was elsewhere in this world, Allison would take her time to go to the observatory. Unlike the famous Jester's Den, parties in Helios Knights are uncommon. And even Allison felt like she could not bring herself to party like she did back at home.
Her fingers stopped, and her movements still as she looked up. She wanted to escape, she wanted to see more of this world. Was Helios Knights perfect? Or will wishing upon a star help for her on choosing her path...

Why was she here? Dancing under the starlight, having quietly escaped the dumb tour group that tried to tell her what she could and couldn't touch. Only one real answer surfaced: Cain Delacour. Their meeting had been born out of fairytale magic (or so she had been convinced). The delicious smell of coffee in the air (which she hadn't eaten because it was too bitter); his distinctive features and charming smile (which she had not really cared for until after he'd left the shop); the melody of the rain outside (which she had been complaining about throughout the whole conversation).[break][break] [break][break] But they had talked about stars.[break][break]
And honestly, that was good enough. [break][break]
Was she developing a crush on the leader of Jester's Den? Asha didn't really know. But there had been a sudden flutter, strange brown haired goof or all-knowing High Priest aside, when he had spoken about the stars.[break][break] [break][break] And dumb people like Ashanti Verna chased flutters like looking for gold.
She thought, you see, that she was alone. And so she did what (presumably, how would she know?) most witches do when they are alone: speak aloud to their familiars. Of course, Asha's case was that she had spoken to her familiar to keep herself from not wetting her pants every second of the journey to Sundial, but people tend to froget the darkness in the light; people tend to forget the thousands of kilometers separating stars when looking at them like this. [break][break] "Oh come on, it's a huge space. You can come out. I'm positive you won't break anything." [break][break] A pause.[break][break] "98% positive."[break][break]
Another pause, longer this time and punctuated with a smile.[break][break]
"I know."[break][break]
And then appeared a polar bear, and silence reigned again. The stars twinkled. Even Polaris was smiling.

So starstruck, the word to perfectly describe this situation. Her caramels up to the sky as her familiar lay underneath her. A smile from the memory, dancing underneath the moonlight near a bonfire. Distinct voices from afar grew close and as she felt a rush of wind, the girl turns her head toward the direction of the voice.
"It's beautiful is it?" she spoke up, looking at the girl. The wash of light as it illuminates the observatory. Allison felt the bubble in her chest grow from the excitement of the stars. Her own familiar standing up as she does.
Seeing the polar bear, all she could think of is the great Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. The two dancing in the sky as they whisk whatever worries behind for Orion watch over them from hunters.
Sirius barks, rubbing himself against Allison's leg, wanting attention himself. "Sorry, erh, did I disturb you?" a slight blush, the rookie Helios Knight places her hand behind her head smiling. "I mean, would you like to join Sirius and I?"
She was a bit awkward. Just a tiny bit! Don't be weird Allie, don't be weird.

"HEH?" was what stumbled out of her mouth (with a sort of breathless vigor). Ash looked at the stranger and it was those rare moments where you'd lose control of all the muscles on your face and you'd wind up making the expression of whatever your heart said. And Asha's heart said: there's someone else here?![break][break] "No not at all!" Asha attempts to mask her cringe with a smile. That was so obviously a lie she felt bad for saying it outloud. "I mean you did startle us but--" Polaris, who had been alerted to a strikingly combat-ready posture then let out a gruff and slouched back, his forelegs crashing onto the floor as his icey breath filled the darkness. [break][break] "--but I'm glad there's someone else to share the view with!" The stranger's familiar seemed to yip in agreement (or so Asha told herself), and she smiled down at the canine. Asha caught the girl being awkward and her smiled tugged on into a smirk. Her violet eyes looked nearly black, but they shone nevertheless. "I mean we're already here together, aren't we?" She teased the girl's statement, but her expression mellowed as the silence settled in again.[break][break]
Was she this bad at conversation? No. The pause was intentional. SHe looked up at the sky, and in the momentary lapsed she took in all the views that she could see. Her knights' crest twinkled in the light of the stars, and Asha felt like what she had felt just before she had left home: like she was about to start a journey, but she did not know where. [break][break]
She was just The Fool, after all.[break][break] [break][break]

A blush on her cheeks, maybe it would have been better to just ignore the girl. The young knight averts her gaze elsewhere in the room, preferably the ground. It just looked nicer (not that she wasn't saying the girl in front of her wasn't nice to look at). Wait, what... Inner turmoil in her head, Allison felt a cringe shivering up her spine. I swear I'm not gay, but, oh shut it already.
Maybe it was Allison playing The Fool's game. Successfully, she was failing it as the game implies. Her face turned into a scowl before returning back to the normal embarrassing smile. Oh shit, I may look weird, don't be weird.
Nodding, all she could ever do now, Allison looked at the girl -- smiling awkwardly (but trying her best to not look awkward), "Erhm, y-yeah! Uhm, okay, wait, before I get into my awkwardness..."
Oh shit, I said that out loud. Allison covered her mouth, she felt panic rising in her chest. She screwed up her first introduction. "I'm Allison, oh god, I'm too embarrassed right now to think."
An exasperated sigh as she once more looked away, her face bright red. I want to die.
The sight of the stars was all the more compelling after the things she had heard the man say: Cain Delacour, the leader of Jester's Den. High Priest and one of the greatest starcallers of this era. Before that meeting in Sun Cafe, the term coven leader had been wholly foreign to her. Those people existed on a different pane of existence. Her sister's pane of existence. And just like before, she felt her foot pressed against the threshold of an adventure she could not begin to comprehend.
"Nice to meet you, Allison. I'm Ashanti...or Asha, honestly."
The words are spoken with an absent-minded charm- the sky is the focus of her eyes. She turned for a brief second and found the girl a blushing mess. "Don't worry about it. Just relax." She didn't know if she was talking to the girl to her own heart rate. Her helios knights crest seemed to glow.
"You know, on cloudless nights like these the power of the stars is said to be the greatest..." Now she was just repeating what Cain had told her. Perhaps this girl wasn't a starcaller at all. She surely wasn't. But Asha felt compelled to comment on the beauty of the outstretching galaxy.
"Wait...have I seen you around before?" Was this girl...from the knights? She did not know. These days, it felt like everyone was from the knights.
Ashanti? That's really pretty... Allison's eyes wandered to the side just a tiny bit. She wasn't going to die of embarrassment today right? Hopefully not. Did I come out too strong? Oh shit, am I coming off as too strong right now? Panic. Anxiety. Next thing I know, I might have a heart attack because of how people smile at me.
There was something about the stars, the cloudless night. "You have a knack for the stars I see," she smiled, finger lightly scratching her cheek as she looked at Ashanti. A flare, a burning fire in those eyes.
She could get lost in them forever, then again, she would get lost in anyone's eyes. 'The eyes are a gateway to who a person truly is', is what the old woman in the village would say to her over and over.
Knights? Something about a coven? Admittedly she was lost, though she wouldn't say that out loud to Ashanti. She just met the girl and truthfully, who would admit such an embarrassing thing?
"Oh! Yes, I'm from the knights, though, I'm kind of new to this."
Sirius let out a bark, nudging Allison to take a seat. "Oh, uhm, let's sit! If you really love the stars, I can show you a couple of tricks. I-if you don't really mind at all."

"I do?" Ashanti asks, tone dully surprised. She wonders if it's true, if transfiguration isn't her real affinity after all. It would make a lot of sense considering the fact that she's never had much success with it. It's too much thinking. Surely it couldn't be her birth affinity, soemthing she's suppose to have an actual affinity for.
"Really?" Asha seems incredulous. The days where she might have said "I'm new to this" feel like they belong in a whole era before this one. A whole different chapter in her life's book. Polaris rumbled lowly, before whining and deciding to lay down on the ground. He snorted, and Asha smiled and bent down to pet him behind the ears.
She jumped a little at the bark, and Polaris glared with one eye open at the strange dog. She alughed nervously. "Sorry, he's a little grumpy tonight. Of course I'll sit dow--"
It vaugely hits her. "Wait!--" she's seated already but her muscles tense for a split second before she relaxes. "You're a starcaller?" Her eyes light up like she's seeing the girl for the first time. "That's so cool." She looks at the brunette in starry-eyed expectation.
From his position asleep, Polaris's eyes flicker open as well.
