- when she was younger, she was to wed to a boy she barely was acquainted with. when she was eight, she met the boy under odd terms of agreement. one, they would not fall in love with each other. two, they would be nothing special to each other. three, if any of the two rules were broken, then they would have to marry -- and at this point, jocelyn thought this was just a simple game. so she went with the rules. unbeknownst to her, her fiance decided it was high time he ditched her to marry a girl around his age. jocelyn didn't mind, she figured at this age she'd have time to find a pretty girl. after all, it was her instructor, michelle li did jocelyn wonder about her sexuality.[break][break]at age thirteen, she tried her best to pursue her instructor saying one day she would marry the woman. the older woman, thinking this was just some phase she was going through patted her head and told her everything was alright and that jocelyn had no reasons to follow or even think about marriage.
- as a teenager she thought she knew everything. how the world would be in the palm of her hands as she goes through her adventures on her large estate. her instructor and her first crush, michelle li was always by her side -- either yelling at her to stop disappearing and doing unlady like things or not to bring in her wooden weapons to the table as the family ate. when her parents discussed about the marriage, jocelyn didn't approve of it, saying how much it was unfair for her other siblings to marry who they loved and she cannot do the same thing. her mother was keen on letting this arrangement fall through, but her father understood her reasoning. if, by the age of eighteen she did not find someone she loved, she would have to marry her fiance.[break][break]to make matters worse, and unknown to the winters family, the fiance was already in love with another person. jocelyn begged for him to call off the arrangement and so he did, but with the price of her giving him at least 25% of her earnings each year. she bitterly agreed, all she wanted was her freedom.
- when news broke out that the heiress to the winters family called off the engagement to another wealthy family, it became a shock. her parents and siblings received questions and gossip behind their backs about how jocelyn might be an illegitimate child of the winters family which is not true. at the age of eighteen and still listening to the gossip, jocelyn spoke out for herself and told the people of where she lived that she would rather find someone she loves than to be wedded off to a man who does not love her. romantics cheered and those who did not agree with her still spread horrible rumours about her. in order to not taint her family name, jocelyn left her home.
- the taste of freedom at the age of twenty. trials and tribulations, she's had her fair share. but she'll climb the mountains and cross the river. when she left her home, she breathed in and welcomed her new life. joining helios knights was always the first priority before she would try to etch her name in the stars. just lasting for a year would help her, and as she grew up bit by bit, jocelyn knew that if she worked a bit harder, she could have her parents know that their little girl isn't so little anymore. the petty gossip is still around, but not everyone has ever seen her in such a long while. as such, jocelyn redid her whole outfit and her looks.
