this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

Percy yawned into the crook of his arm before glancing down into his lap again, prodding the squirming ball of fluff. Cassiopeia was learning to glide, so he'd taken her to the outskirts of town and found a lone tree to climb. It was a small tree but had plenty of foliage so that they were relatively well hidden from people passing by, which was fine by Percy for now. She stood up shakily on his knee and glanced down toward the ground, then hurriedly turned around and squeaked at him in alarm. He laughed and gently stroked a finger down her spine to calm her, which seemed to do the trick.
"Don't worry it's not as far as it seems I promise."
She seemed mostly reassured by this and squeaked again, steeling her nerves agains the slight breeze that blew by. Percy scooped her in his hands and held her out toward the open air and she raised her little arms, opening her arm flaps and preparing herself for flight. She jumped out of his hands and took to the air, gliding slowly down and looking back at her dad with wide eyes. He grinned and gave her a thumbs up, at least until he covered his mouth with a hand as she collided with someone's head.
He flipped himself upside down on the tree branch, supported by his legs, and smiled sheepishly at the stranger.

stars would have to learn to shine brightly against even the day sky before elih accepts any sort of social invite willingly. he ducks out of a family lunch with the excuse of stretching his legs ( mumbles something along the lines of having been sitting down all day poring over scrolls; a lie, really, but they don't know that! ), then defends his absence by taking a walk. it just so happens that his walk takes him to the outskirts of town, moving briskly and hugging the edges of crowds. his pace slows as the outskirts of the town greet him: blissful emptiness, with trees dotting the expanse till they reach the hints of a wall on the horizon. he breathes deeply, relishes the breeze that ghosts by, and allows himself a carefree huff of laughter at the thought of missing a dreary lunch appointment.
hamster -- the coyote familiar, grey-furred and no larger than a house cat -- sprints past, abandoning his previous position by elih's legs to bound into high grasses. a high-spirited laugh rings clear in elih's mind, bell-like in its clarity. at some point, the only visual evidence of the familiar ever materialising is the faint sway of grass in the near distance ( debatable, granted the lazy afternoon breeze ). the delight is infectious; elih follows to the best of his ability, but at a more leisurely pace. he swats away an errant fly, waving his hand dismissively and lamenting the very existence of insects, only to get hit head-on by something much larger. he bites down an unholy screech.
it comes out as an undignified squeak instead, an exclamation partially choked by a moment of panic. he freezes, eyes shut, and hopes very hard that he doesn’t have the misfortune of being the first to discover some mysterious, gargantuan species of insect.
"sorry about that, she's learning to glide."
cautiously, he blinks an eye open, and simultaneously feels very stupid about it all, and incredibly relieved. “i, uh,” and unable to help himself, laughs lightly, embarrassed, “didn’t notice. there was a fly i was trying to shoo away–” and when he realises the offending insect is no longer in sight “– well, i guess, it’s gone now?”
helplessly, he looks about, and after what feels like an eternity to him but is in reality probably no more than a short moment, fixes on the blond man hanging upside down on the tree, and the tiny creature that had crashed into him. “well, she’s very cute,” he finishes lamely.

Okay so, the squeak was pretty funny, mostly because Percy could visibly see the guy holding back the absolute screech he wanted to release. Which was hilarious considering Cassi was the sweetest creature on the face of the planet, if not the most curious. He pressed a hand to his mouth, hiding his smile behind a well placed cough and nods in a very serious manner.
"She is, in fact, the most adorable thing in existence."
He says in quite a serious tone before flipping off the branch and landing on his feet. Cassi squeaks and if sugar gliders could blush she'd be red. As it stands she shifts on the stranger's head instead and settles down more comfortably, a little too nervous too really move. Percy saunters over at a leisurely pace with a comfortable smile on his face, hands outstretched to scoop her up. Cassi's tail twitches and the rings that decorate it clink together gently, gemstones of all kinds glittering in the sunlight.
"She's still just a baby so she doesn't know a lot yet, but we're working on it. First order of business is how to glide, which so far isn't going as bad as I thought it would. We're a little nervous on take off and a little wobbly in the air, but the nervousness is starting to wear off and turn into excitement."
He explained with a patient smile while gently scratching under Cassi's chin. She chittered Percy chuckled under his breath, ignoring her pleas for more and again! once he stopped to properly address the stranger.
"My name is Perseus Fonseca, you can call me Percy."
