this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

-----basics---- name: Mirragen description: Mirrors have long been thought of as windows into another world. This form of of magic allows the users to manipulate their mana and hardening it in order to create/manipulate glass like structures. Infusing their mana like this allows for strange effects. rarity (per 100 witches): Natural Born witches is 10 per 100. This affinity however can be mostly replicated by another affinity like transfiguration which has a broader skill set. Like a red mage versus a white mage in final fantasy however the higher forms are difficult or impossible to replicate.
---details--- applications: The most common use is in creation. Hand mirrors and compacts are a common product of these kinds of witches as they are more durable than actual glass and work just as well. A strong Mirrist can even create a walky talky function between mirrors they've created sort of like skype calling with mirrors. In a sense of power however this affinity lacks sufficient firepower compared to some of the others.
background/history: Strongly associated with divination this skill set grew from a time of magic mirrors and crystal balls. It was forged during a time when society was scattered and a way to communicate was no easily available. So rudimentary as it was mirror calling was something that started. First it was using water as a medium to infuse mana. Then slowly over time such mediums became unnecessary.
---skill set---- Mirror's Edge Vol. 1 A rudimentary spell book that contains the knowledge of how to combine mana with various mediums to create Mirragen. This tome talks about using Water and Stones as mediums.
Mirror's Edge Vol. 2 A spell book that contains the knowledge of combining mana with various mediums to create mirragen. This tome talks about using air and sand as mediums.
Manipulating Mana: Crystal Ball Edition A scroll that explains a method of manipulating mirragen structures using mana. This scroll focuses on manipulating small orb like structures near the user.
Mirragen Scroll: Communication A scroll that teaches the witch how to combine mirrogen and mana to create a a handheld communication device. Distance is determine by the strength of the witch that created it.
Mirragen Scroll: Wall Teaches a witch how to use earth/rocks as a medium to create a crystalline wall in front of them. The strength and size of the wall are dependent on the witch.
----extra--- additional info: Mirrogen make a great conductor for mana hence their use in divination. usage: pls use as much as you want or change shiz. love me
name: Corruption description: Have you ever felt like nothing is going your way? That all your spells ends up backfiring in horrible or amusing ways? Murphy's law dictates that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. If you answered yes to any of the above it may not be your imagination, it may be because of a witch experienced in corruption is nearby. Witches with affinity for corruption are masters in disrupting the natural flow of mana taking advantage of other witches magic. rarity (per 100 witches): 5 (natural selection has not been favorable to the natural born)
---details---
applications: A summoner who have caught the wratch of corrupter will find a skunk in their summoning circle rather than the cute bunny intended. Skilled corrupters can easily engage in their own twisted version of enchantment; An armor magically enchanted to be immune to electricity will suddenly be a lightning rod, healing magic makes the vounded turn blue but does nothing to ease the pain. Witches with water as their familiar keep getting the wrong state of matter (ice instead of liquid is a common application). Sadly this affinity has little to no application outside of magical situations. background/history: Prior to its discovery Corrupters were assumed to not have an affinity for magic whatsoever and was thus left behind. Over time the neglected corrupters developed a disdain for witches which in turn caused other witches spells to go haywire. When the connection was finally drawn these witches was the target of yet another misconception. For a long time this affinity has wrongly be referred to as "Causing bad luck" after complaints about magic backfiring around them this stereotype is still relatively persistent. Today outspoken corrupters have times and times proven themselves capable of selectively disrupt spells leaving no doubt that this is indeed an affinity worthy of recognition.
---skill set----
skill example #1Corrupted {Affinity/element} - A series of scrolls each named after affinities and elements each specialized in ways to corrupt other spells from the corresponding spectrum. Corrupted summoning: After participating, passively or otherwise, the witch can alter what is getting summoned to something within his/her power. How much different from the intention depends on rank. For this reason an apprentice should stick to minor changes (eg: Change a poodle into a chiwawa or a hamster to a guinea pig is an obvious beginner spell). skill example #2Modification of the enchanted - A scroll that teaches the art changing what has already been enchanted. For the most part it's an all or nothing deal forcing the corrupter to choose between making the enchantment slightly less effective or its polar opposite. Only a master has the right to be picky. skill example #3 100 ways to stop a purification - The logical conclusion of the magical arms race between corrupting things and purifying them. Newbies are taught to prevent a fireball from being extinguished through magic.
----extra---
additional info: Corruption is an affinity that suffers greatly from arms race, as soon as a corrupter finds a way to "crack" a spell, an even higher ranking witch somewhere in the world is currently inventing a corruption-proof spell for distribution. This arms race reflects in the scope of corruption spells. usage: Yes
Charani Petrov, @alexis, there's some things that need to be worked out about these affinity concepts, so I've PMed you both (Vodka on discord & Katsura on the site) to talk about it!
[break][break]In addition to the above, we're putting a hold on new affinity concepts for an indefinite period, so we will not be accepting new affinity ideas for now. We'll provide more details soon <3
