Results from round 1 are in!
[break][break]Despite the incredible display from both parties, claire fermont(W) defeats líng lù-xī by covering so much area of the arena with ice so that magical contact was simply unavoidable for the young Jester. However, due to a number of open positions from ties and withdraws, Ling was able to win an intermediate redemption round and will thus be participating in round 2.
[break][break]It seems that the cat won this game of cat and mouse, with ninos knight(W) managing more elemental contact against his opponent than kaelin ó'coileáin could properly react to. Ice skating fans need not worry, as all cuts and scrapes on the popular skater have been fully healed by the event's medical team.
[break][break]Despite losing her grip on her wand early in the duel, Zari Malia(W) wins a difficult battle against lucena zamóre by landing a solid Vibrionus spell.
[break][break] In an unexpected turn of events, dark horse Billy Kasparian(W) defeated fan favorite milo tremerie. While many make cries of foul play, the event officials have announced this decision as final.
[break][break]Although Charani Petrov started off strong by making first contact, his opponent managed to stay in the fight with barely a fraction of a second to spare. The helios knight's unanticipated physical collapse gave heath ambroise(W) a window of opportunity for victory. Medical officials have examined Charani after the collapse and confirmed that he'll be alright.
[break][break] Due to arguments between event judges, the duel between Aisling Fei and raven delacroix resulted in a tie. In an intermediate redemption round, where witches were pitted against different opponents, both, unfortunately, lost. Neither will be moving on to round 2.

All participants who made at least one post in TEC round 1 have received the below rewards. Any character who won round 1 (marked with a w in the above results section) received a 100g bonus.

The champions are given a day to rest, with the next round's opponents posted early in the morning.

Round 2 has nearly identical IC rules to round 1, copied here for reference:
[break]"ICly, the dueling format will be that of "the last strike", which you can read about here. it is also advised for members to refamiliarise themselves with the lore of magic and battling. in summary, dueling is not death enabled, all competitors must use wands, familiars must remain materialised (dematerialisation results in an automatic defeat for the witch in question), and the victor is the one who is able to "make magical contact with the opponent given that contact is not returned within ten seconds of being afflicted"."
[break][break]However, instead of a 1v1 battle, there will be three witches involved in each duel, all pitted against each other. As if that didn't make things complicated enough, the floor of the arena has been modified to shift and restructure itself in unexpected ways, thus creating moving wall-like barriers and floating platforms. These environmental hazards are made from a special semi-metallic material which is not sensitive to the elemental influence of earth witches, thus giving everyone equal footing.
[break][break]OOCly, the player of the character marked (s) should create a thread in the Helios Knight's Hall titled "[TEC ROUND 2] character vs character vs character" within 7 days of this event post. Like before, this post must include some kind of magical attack. (If this player does not create a starter post in time, either of the other two players may create the starting post instead).
[break][break]After the first post has been created, the other two characters will have a total of 72 hours to reply. Each of the following 3 rounds of posts, where each player replies once (resulting in 4 posts per character by the end of the thread), will also be 72 hours each. This event will end Friday, April 13 10:00PM EST.

[attr="class","stafftempitem"] DUELING WAND a premium wand of the m.a.g.i. brand. it is lightweight and easy to use, made primarily for duelists. it is especially good at focusing and accelerating targeted spells, but less effective at grander, area of effect types of spells. it does not break very easily. can be used to partake in duels. |
