this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

t is a rare block of free time she has carved out here and now, and yet she is spending it again at the ice rink where she already spends the majority of her time. she has her favourite pair of skates on, has kiska curled up in her hair as a crown of ice like usual; the differences, though, are stark. instead of a glittering costume or a set of comfortable workout clothes, she has decided to dress up, just a little, with a blue skirt and a white off-the-shoulder shirt; her hair woven into a single braid down her back instead of up in a tail or bun. the rink is full of people who are not professional skaters - it is a public session, not a private one.
and kaelin is here to teach a friend, not here to be taught.
she has arrived just slightly earlier than the designated meet up time, enough to warm up a bit, do a few laps around the rink. a few people have stared and pointed her way so far, but the majority of skaters seem entirely unaware of who she is, a fact kaelin in rather grateful for. kiska keeps an eye out on the door for any sign of the pink-haired witch they have promised to meet; as soon as the girl walks through, she skates over and greets her with a wave.
"hello jail! over here!" she calls, smiling. "so, are you ready to learn to skate?"
Today was a special day. Not only was she going to meet a friend, she was going to be taught skating lessons. Which wasn't what she had planned at first, but this certain friend, Kaelin O'Coileain, had promised her to teach her how to ice-skate. Hey, Jelly couldn't blame her. The pinkette was interested in learning that said exercise, after all.
It took her quite a few minutes to get to Kaelin, but she managed to do it. The pinkette sighed in relief, glad she wasn't that late after all. She opened the door to the skating rink and was greeted later after by Kaelin, who was wearing a beautiful blue dress and had her hair tied up into a braid. Even her snake familiar was there with her.
Jelly smiled at Kaelin and walked up to her, avoiding the icy part in case she might slip. "Hey, Kaelin. And yes, I'm ready." She told her and smiled, waving at Kiska as well. "What's the first step I have to learn, then?"

he smiles, and gestures over to jail's feet. "having skates on your feet is always helpful," she teases gently, the warmth in her tone dispelling any sting her words may imply. "in all seriousness, there is a skate hire over there, if you don't have your own pair." kaelin points to a small booth over to the left, outside of which a not-insignificant trails as people await their turn. "it's quite affordable, thankfully."
she steps off the ice fully, shaking excess shards off her blades and stepping next to the pink-haired witch. "so, how have you been, jail?" she asks. though it has only been a week, and she doubts anything has really happened, one never knows what the peculiarities of life might throw their way. especially not in a place like sundial, where kaelin is beginning to recognise holds a rather strange definition of normality. "have you completed any interesting missions? learned of any curious spells?"
and there is also the desire to learn more about her pink-haired companion. currently, kaelin knows next to nothing about the other witch, and if she is to teach jail to skate, well. that is a solid path to friendship ( she hopes ), and if there is anything kaelin hopes she can be in life, professional dreams aside, it is to be a good friend.
Kaelin gestures at her feet and tells her that skating shoes are always good, and she nods at this. "Aha, yes, indeed." She then looks at the shoes doubtfully and picks them up. "Although I'm not really sure if I'll be able to stand well on this shoes..." Oh well, she'd be learning anyway, so having these skates around should be good.
Jelly sits down on one of the seats near the entrance of the skating ring, then starts putting one of the skating shoes on. While doing this, Kaelin asks how she is doing, and if she'd completed missions and learned some spells. She smiles and perks her head up, turning to the white-haired girl. "Ah, I think you could tone it out to Jelly now if you want to call me." She states, chuckling softly. "I've finally gotten used to people calling me by my real name after time has gone by; it feels like Jail has already been quite distant to me."
"As for that, I'm fine, really. Very fine than before, actually." She answered with a smile, trying on the other shoe. "Sure, I've gotten myself stuck in one mission involving the Alesso House somewhere in Eclipse Town. I've also learned a new spell just recently; proves to be helpful against annoying enemies." She said, chuckling and shaking her head at the last line.
Finally having both skating shoes on, she walked carefully into the ring, almost slipping as her leg suddenly skids ahead a few inches. "Oh my... gosh..." She exclaims in surprise, then giggles to herself. "Argh, silly me and my clumsiness."
Then she turns to Kaelin with a smile. "How about you, Kaelin? How's life treating you so far?"

he smiles encouragingly at the pink-haired witch. "you'll pick it up quicker than you might think," she assures. and that is not an exaggeration - beginners usually tend to pick up the basic motions after an hour or two, going from wobbling with each step to being able to skate around without falling in a single session. it is both quite moralising and very fun, and yet another reason why she adores her sport.
"ah, alright then. jelly is it," she acquiesce cheerfully.
she listens attentively as the other girl speaks, blinking in surprise at the implied fight. surely, fledglings and apprentices like she and jelly have ( or at least, that is the rank she assumes the other witch holds ) do not see truly dangerous missions? kaelin is not really one to take many missions - quite the opposite, in fact - but even she could not have misjudged the rankings that much, could she? "that sounds quite intense," she comments, with a small note of concern in her voice. "it sounds like your week was quite interesting, to say the least."
they start making their way towards the rink, kaelin keeping a careful eye on her companion as she takes her first steps on the ice. her hand shoots out to steady jelly when the pink-haired witch slips. "careful!" she cautions, and joins jelly with a soft laugh. "try balancing yourself first. bend your knees a bit so your centre of gravity is lower and you have better stability. and don't be afraid to fall. i promise it doesn't hurt nearly as much as you might expect, especially at lower speeds." skating quickly while doing jumps is... another matter altogether.
she smiles back, offering a small, graceful shrug. "nothing quite as interesting as your life, i admit," she says easily, a grin playing at her lips. "skating training everyday, practicing with some ice magic, and i caught a cat. just living life as an average citizen of the world."
Jelly giggles and supports herself through the railings of the skating ring, then nods to herself withe encouragement. "Alright. Here I go..." She mumbles to herself, then closes her eyes. Kaelin's instructions to her should be simple enough. Bending knees... what could go wrong?
While trying to balance herself, she listens to Kaelin as she explains that nothing much has happened to her this past week. Catching a cat... not that intense, but certainly something that would keep your adrenaline pumping up. Chasing cats is a hard thing, after all. And cats are agile creatures. She saw about ten of them chasing each other on the streets one time.
The pinkette smiles at Kaelin with a nod. "Huh, I think that's interesting to say the least." She says, then almost slips again after taking a step. "The previous week was quite stressful, I have to say. But totally worth it." She added, with another smile.
