"hey, mr blythe," kaelin says one day, completely out of the blue. on the road together, walking towards the train station to travel out of town for a skating exhibition, quiet is a comfortable, familiar companion to the rhythm of their steps. but this thought, she has been ruminating on for a not-insignificant time, a lone peculiarity finally finding a kindred spirit. "your familiar is pretty big, right? like, unconventionally big, even for familiars needing limiters?"

like forty, fifty feet long, big enough to destroy a small town, probably, big enough to be a logistical nightmare in reality. big enough to need restrictors even when travelling out of city limits. big enough for a little girl to be completely bewildered by the true form her familiar has taken. not that kaelin would swap kiska for anything in the world. there are simply certain.... troubles associated with having a fifty foot giant snake suddenly popping up if they ever leave limiter territory.

her favourite sometimes-bodyguard has not seen kiska's true form yet, she does not think - not many people have, not many people even know, given how much they try and avoid that reveal. and the screams. it tends to come with too many screams. and possibly getting attacked. looking at the tiny snake coiled in her hair like some sort of pretty barrette, it seems ridiculous to think that she could morph from this, into something huge and monstrous. but of all the people in the world, kaelin thinks evander might understand.
