Her childhood consisted of adventures and other worlds--dreams of imagining what the rest of the world looked like. Maia sat around and listened to her parents stories of back when they were more active members of their coven. She had to know every detail: where they met, did they eat breakfast, were there any clouds in the sky. A lot of the references didn't make a lot of sense, so she tried to draw pictures to help visualize everything that got mentioned. Which required a ton of weird questions. Probably.

As she grew older, the idea of leaving the Gale valley for any significant length of time faded. Practicality set in. How would she even fund such a long vacation? The life of an intercontinental mercenary sounded cool and all, but that required a set of skills Maia didn't really possess. Her parents were talented mages that even mentored other witches for a living. Imagining either of them being useful didn't take much effort. But Maia--

Apparently, talent did not get passed down through this family tree. After spending plenty of time feeling miserable about herself, Maia went ahead and continued training her body. She already committed to this whole witch thing, and didn't really feel comfortable figuring out how to leave. Honestly, she never planned on doing anything extremely dangerous to begin with, so it didn't matter if she had to brute force her way through her problems.

As long as she continued working, eventually she could afford to go camping in the wilderness alone, without worrying about monsters lurking around.
