Candamius was born into a renowned family of summoners. For generation upon generation, every Lux born had been born with an elemental affinity to light or fire and all of them had trained to become summoners, like those before them. With Candamius, it was no different. Her parents had every intention of training her to be a summoner and with her pale hair and eyes, it only seemed certain that her affinity was light. It wasn’t until she was playing one day that they discovered their assumption had been completely wrong. Candamius had an affinity with darkness. The Lux family had long believed that Darkness was the opposite of Light and therefore to be without goodness. Candamius was speculated as a Curse upon the Lux family. Some of the family even suggested that her parents dispose of her before she brought Darkness upon the family.

Although her father considered his family’s words, Candamius’s mother was entirely against their suggestions. Not born into the Lux family, the family’s suspicions held no weight with her. The woman had known other witches with affinities to darkness and none of them were without goodness. Darkness was not a Curse. It was simply different—and perhaps it was about time that the Lux family have a member who wasn’t attuned to light or fire. It is easy to say that the woman’s views were not popular amongst the rest of the family and, in fact, some believed that the Curse had already come upon the family.

Candamius lived a life separate from the rest of the Lux clan. Her mother had insisted to that they find a place to live, away from the Lux Family Estate, and so they did. Candamius only saw her extended family a few times before her parents withdrew her completely from the extended family’s company. Although not openly cruel to the young girl, the Lux family whispered about her when her back was turned and the adults discouraged their children from interacting with her, lest they be cursed.

Where most of the clan found friendship and companionship within itself, Candamius found friendship in those outside of it. As much as the Lux clan wished to snub the latest addition to the family, proclaiming her as cursed and whatnot, others outside of it found the youngest Lux member to be more of a curio. Curiosity only rose when she proved to be a natural summoner. It was even said that she was the most gifted of all of the Lux clan. Whether it was the truth or simply just a means to irk her family clan, Candamius could never determine, but she didn’t allow it to distract her from her studies.
[break][break]
At eighteen, she applied to become a Helios Knight, but she wasn’t accepted immediately. It took two years before the Helios Knights would accept her into their coven. Their reasoning behind it was never disclosed to her, and Candamius wasn’t going to ask. Her mother, however, assumed that it was others from the Lux clan working to keep her out of their favored Coven.
