The Skylar Family, one of the influential clans that were lived in the Mirrorlight Metropolis. They were from one of the highest class, with generations being born into luxury and wealth. Many of the witches and wizards in the Skylar family were renowned alchemists, creating potions that were sold on a very large scale. This regal clan dates back many centuries, well-known for their tall height, and their lilac, shimmering hair.[break][break]

Catherine Skylar was married into this family clan at the age of seventeen. It was an arranged marriage that was agreed to by both parties, being beneficial to both the families. She agreed to because she wanted to preserve the honor of her own family, and also because she did not have any reason to refuse. Catherine herself was the sole heiress of a large business, and the two families joining forces would make them more powerful and known. Over the course of the next two decades of her life, she eventually gave birth to the two Skylar daughters. [break][break]

The first Skylar daughter was named Elizabeth Skylar. It was clear that she has inherited her father's lilac hair and her mother's slender figure, making her clearly a Skylar. She has also inherited the Skylar clan's strong business tact. As she grew up, her talent in alchemy was very clear. Her future as a heiress was sealed. There was nobody that was going to take her place.[break][break]

Alexandria Skylar was born twelve years later. She arrived in the middle of a hot summer, an unexpected blessing to the family who didn't expect any more children. She brought a lot of joy, including to Elizabeth who had always wanted a younger sister to dote on. [break][break] 

Nobody knows why they eventually started calling her Nettie. It was Elizabeth who have given her that nickname, and it eventually stuck. Eventually, a lot of people forgot that her true name was actually Alexandria. [break][break]

Nettie spent many years of her life wandering through the long hallways and walls of the gigantic family mansion. Due to the large age-gap with her sister who had to study abroad, Nettie was often left alone. There were always several nannies who were waiting on hand and foot for her, attending to her every need. She had everything that she wanted right at her fingertips. [break][break]

But as she grew older, it was soon clear to everybody that Nettie was not anything like her sister. [break][break]

It was firstly her physical appearance. Nettie did not inherit Catherine's height and slender figure, her growth peaking at 5'1 and stopping completely by the time she was twelve. She also didn't inherit the Skylar's prized lilac hair from her father. Her hair shade was more of a darker indigo shade, switching to a bluer or purple shade depending on the lighting, like her mother. The matriarch of the Skylar family was clearly not happy with this, but Nettie's parents did her best to protect her from the comments from the extensive family members.[break][break]

But it didn't stop there.[break][break]

As a toddler, Nettie was bubbly and talkative, happy to interact with anyone who would hold her. As a child, she was simply just uninterested with the art of alchemy, to the horror of the entire Skylar clan. She hated potion-making, and was terrible at being detail oriented. Perhaps clumsy was a better word for it. Nettie's magic affinity was also confusing, because it was clear that she did not have any alchemy skill. But what else could it be? The younger Skylar daughter didn't seem to be showing signs of any magical prowess either. Her parents were confused and heartbroken, trying to decide the future for their child.[break][break]

In addition to that, the family was going through a lot of pressure from the matriarch who did not like this scandal. They did not take out the blame on Catherine, because she has proven herself with Elizabeth's birth, but there were many who was not sure whether Nettie would have a place in the family. Finally, they decided that until she was able to prove her magical prowess, Nettie should stay at home and not show her face into the public.[break][break]

"I want to be an adventurer! I want to travel the world."[break][break]

At the age of 12, Nettie was finding it harder and harder to live in an environment which she found stifling.  The girl was overall just bored and unhappy with her very routine-like life. She couldn't handle all the private lessons that she had to do, and was also showing no signs of improvement with alchemy either. She wanted to break free, and discover new things without someone having to guide her.[break][break]

Catherine and Elizabeth did their very best to make her happy, but Nettie couldn't take it.[break][break]

One day, she decided to run away for the day, to try and find her own little adventure. Her idea was to be back in the Skylar estate by the evening. The Skylar's private estate in which Nettie was being raised was in the outskirts of the Metrapolis, facing the forest. Nettie wanted to try and prove herself to her parents by playing around in the forest.[break][break]

She didn't get very far. The mud in the forest were lose from a heavy rain the other night, and Nettie simply slipped and fell down a deep hole after a wrong footing caused the entire ground to crumble. At that sudden moment of stress, she finally showed her very first magical ability. There was a flash of light, and Nettie found herself safely out of the hole. There was a lot of golden dusk that has fallen all over her hands, and her clothes.[break][break]

She came home to a very, very distraught Catherine who had turned the estate upside down in order to find Nettie. Her anger to her daughter quickly faded when she realized all the golden glitter on the dress.[break][break]

As a young girl, Catherine had heard all kinds of stories from her mother. Before her family started to turn towards alchemy, they were the descendants of star-callers.[break][break]

Perhaps the ability has manifested itself in the younger Skylar, after skipping through several generations.

Nettie did her very best to try and replicate what she had done on that faithful day, but to no avail. It was as if she couldn't do this strange ability if she willed it. However, as the years passed, Nettie would come to realize that at the heat of an emotional burst, strange things do tend to occur. Strange explainable things that were unable to be explained.[break][break] 

She realized that she would have to be able to work harder in order to be able to control her magic. Finally, at the age of seventeen she broached the question to her parents to join the Helios Knights in order to learn more.[break][break]

They were first very reluctant to let her do it, but finally, with the consultation of the entire Skylar clan, it was agreed.[break][break]

Nettie was to become a Helios Knight.[break][break]

And so she left home for the first time, eager to learn, eager to practice and eager to master her magic to the very best of her ability. She was happy. She was excited. And there was nothing right now that can stop her.
