this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
It'd been some time since Valencia walked the halls of Lux University. However, the allure that came with the amount of knowledge hidden within its walls would never fail to astound her. She remembered being a wide-eyed child and clinging to her mother's hand as she explored the corridors searching for the library. The library was considered to be a wealth of knowledge and a place where anyone could become a scholar. Her mother made sure to engrave every bit of it into her mind and Valencia found it to be a safe haven from the storm which was her home life.
However, she came to the university for a different reason today. She wanted to sit in on a few lessons which all centered around the progression of a certain recruit named Vera Lindt. She'd heard about the young woman from word of mouth and wanted to see what she was like for herself. It was a bit of a courtesy call but Valencia grew interested in the thoughts and beliefs of her fellow Helios Knights. Recently, she'd been hearing words and rumors passed around the Hovel about some actions of deplorable knights. If one of the recruits were part of this bunch, she wasn't quite sure on how she'd handle the issue.
With that being said, she roamed the hallways and made sure to keep her destination in mind so memory lane wouldn't cause her to veer away. Once she came to the classroom in question, she slid open the door and was greeted with the sight of learning and knowledge. A few of the students began to whisper among themselves as they took in her attire. Their professor quieted them and came to assess what she wanted.
"Pardon me," she said. "If you don't mind, I'd like to sit in on your lesson for today."
The man was flabbergasted and slowly pulled himself together and nodded, returning to his podium. While he busied himself with telling the class that they had an observer, she scanned the rows of faces for Vera Lindt.
It was anything but conventional for a witch to suddenly sweep in and request to attend class with Lux University's undergraduates. It was really odd, actually, that someone would actually want to be in a class of History of Magic. Vera had nothing against the subject, really, but she much preferred the more practical classes she was taking. Like Alchemical Reactions, which came up right after this class. The expectancy was the only thing that took her through these lessons.
Classmates begin to whisper amongst themselves, curious. Vera supposes she, too, is mildly curious about the arrival. The woman was pretty. Very pretty. Hair as red and bright as an apple's skin, outfit elegant and sober. The alchemist in training wonders again, even more confused, what a witch like her was doing in a classroom like Vera's. She barely registers the professor's inquiry on empty seats, but manages to raise her hand just in time.
"Sir, Cyril mentioned being sick today. His seat's unoccupied," she offers, pointing at the space next to her on the third row. As soon as she's finished, she slides farther along the joined table, to give the newcomer a place to sit, if she chooses to take it.
Their lecture falls back into full swing before she can do little more than say "Hi!" and wave, leaving a startled Vera to struggle to keep up with the many ways in which Dutchess Ferrina broke with tradition, and presented Enchantment as an affinity both versatile and powerful beyond that time's assumptions. Most of these she knows because of her father, who used to tell her tales of great enchanters as she grew up, expecting her to become one. Follow his greatness and those of enchanters before them.
It is those anecdotal events that she doesn't know that make her look up and watch her professor for a few seconds, marveling at his words, before realizing the man of graying hair had warned them this lesson would surely be covered in their next test. Soon enough, she's barely aware of the redhead's presence, and only once he dismisses the class does she remember that the comforting company of the blue-eyed boy has been replaced by a redheaded woman today.
"Quite the interesting lecture, wasn't it?" It's offered conversationally rather than as a strong impression that she really wants to discuss, but she figures it will do the trick and break the ice. It tends to, with her classmates, at least. "I'm Vera Lindt," she adds, smiling at the woman as she offers her a hand to shake. Normally she would have curtsied, but there was little room for that where they stood. Her fountain pens and scroll papers levitate into her bag while her hand is held up, losing no time because her next class is minutes away.
"Do you like History of Magic a lot? Is that why you're here? If so, you should probably seek Professor Irving. He's the university's leading researcher in the field. Or, rather, the leading researcher still in the field. Some think he should retire and enjoy what little he has left to live, but personally I thinn he enjoys it, and what better activity to enjoy one's life than the profession they love?"

Took a couple liberties writing this, let me know if any doesn't work!
Valencia felt as if she'd been transported back in time to where she was a student at Lux University. Her parents didn't spare any expense with her schooling and she was expected to bring back results to make them proud. If she was going to be honest, she'd moved many of her instructors to madness with her endless amounts of questions and essays. Learning was always something that she enjoyed and she couldn't say that she'd stopped even as she entered adulthood. Yet, to her amazement, there were some things that she would never grow tired of hearing.
One of those things would be the story of Dutchess Ferrina. A proud and dutiful woman who broke free of the confines placed on her gender. She was one of the women that Valencia's father sung praises for and an inspiration for her when she became an adult herself. She'd almost missed the quick wave and greeting that the young girl to her left had given. Nodding her head in acknowledgement, she was immersed in their instructor's lesson and almost had forgotten her true purpose for entering the university on that day.
Needless to say, fate had a way of bringing the point back to the forefront.
The young woman next to her revealed herself to be the target of Valencia's visit. And Valencia was happy enough to give her hand a firm shake before being subjected to an onslaught of words. She'd dealt with individuals this talkative before but at least this conversation was pleasant.
"You are going to swallow your tongue from speaking so quickly," Valencia teased. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Vera. I am Valencia Godfrey."
She stood from her seat as the rest of the classroom began to empty out.
"Perhaps we should walk and talk. Your day is still going on despite my interjection, no?"
