this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
To say that Nana was bored would be an understatement of the century. Her whole day had been spent listening to her familiar's wishes, which normally wouldn't be so bad, but today was Cadbeary's birthday, and that meant extra obedience from nana. Papa bear wasn't all too forgiving on his birthday, especially when it cut into his "me" time.
Of course, his "me time" isn't complete without Nana, so here she was, sitting on a park bench while her loving papa bear rolled around in the grass. Occasionally he would find a rogue bee and try to eat it, which he was almost always successful at. Cadbeary seemed to be having the time of his life all covered in grass and dirt.
Sometimes, Nana forgets that even if he is as smart as a human, he's also a bear. A bear that apparently likes rolling in the gras- and mud. There he goes. In a mud puddle- Oh wait he's sputtering. Perhaps he didn't intentionally flop into the mud? Oh well. It certainly made Nana's day.
"Cadbeaaaaaaaaary, are you done playing yet? You're making a mess of yourself." And Nana can't find any hot looking men to oogle. Seriously, what was she supposed to be doing?
The bear looked up from wiping mud off of himself a good ten feet away. "Absolutely not, my dear. You promised that I could do whatever I want on my birthday. This is what I want to do."
If Nana had been anyone else, she would have accepted the response, albeit begrudgingly, but Nana had been friends with Cadbeary for a long time, and she knew bullshit when she heard it. "I did say that you could do anything for your birthday, but... You're simply doing this to annoy me, aren't you?"
Who knew bears could look that smug? Regardless of the look he gave her, the sun bear simply laid on the ground, basking in the sun. It was clear that they were going to be staying in the park for longer than Nana thought...

Come on, now, you can't honestly fall asleep here?[break][break]
The scolding womanly voice in the witch's head roused Damiano from the light doze he was comfortably drifting into. Lay there on the grass, a cushioning blanket of green, and under the warming rays of the afternoon sun, the pyromancer couldn't be blamed for letting drowsiness take a hold although, apparently, only one of the two saw taking a small catnap as a good idea. The other felt as though it wasn't appropriate to fall asleep in somewhere as public as a park.[break][break]
"If someone tries to swipe my bag, you can stop them, can't you?" The shaggy-haired male grumbled under his breath, refusing to open his eyes. He was answered with a wave of displeasure through their ethereal link which only irritated him further. He sucked his tongue against his teeth and, stubbornly, insisted on basking in the pleasant warmth of sunshine. His hands pillowing the back of his head and his jacket discarded, strewn haphazardly to the side of him, the only hint of his slight annoyance was how the corners of his lips pulled downwards in an almost ever present frown.[break][break]
If you want to sleep, we should go home.
"Don't wanna."
Really, Damiano, don't be so petulant.
The sounds of heavy steps, muffled by the grass, began to grow closer. Damiano already knew who they belonged to - his familiar, a motherly bear called Allegra - before she reached him but, still, he refused to open his eyes even the smallest sliver. Not even when she brought up an equally heavy paw and began to tap the witch's chest.[break][break]
Damiano.[break][break]
Tap, tap, tap; each touch accidentally heavy enough to squeeze a little air from his lungs unintentionally. Each time, his eyebrows knitted more and more. [break][break]
Damiano, let's just--[break][break]
His frown had now advanced to a scowl, a warning expression, although Allegra could no doubt feel the darkening mood of his partner already, but it hadn't deterred her in the slightest. It was, though, something else that made her stop. Suddenly. The she-bear hadn't even finished her nagging, she just... froze. Damiano could feel how her attention had been deviated in another direction with an abruptness that had him mildly surprised. Allegra, sat on her hind legs, her thick chestnut pelt shimmering in the suffocating sunshine, was transfixed on... another bear. When had she last seen a familiar similar to herself? If bears could express surprise visually, that would be Allegra right now. Instead though, she gaped, her focus entirely gone from her partner's ill choice of where to catch forty winks. [break][break]
Open those eyes of yours. You gotta look at this, Day.[break][break]
Damiano was... perhaps... a tiny bit curious on hearing the almost girlish giddiness in his familiar's inner voice so he maybe opened a single eye the tiniest little bit...
If her damned familiar didn't get his ass off of the ground, Nana was probably going to... going to... A groan came from her as she laid across the bench. Of course she couldn't hurt her bear friend. He's been with her for almost 10 years now, and she'll be damned if someone took him away from her.
Speaking of said bear friend... Her eyes, which had closed at some point, slid open to stare at the paw of Cadbeary. It was currently resting on her mouth, smooshing it. "Nana..." He whispered down at her while his eyes were stuck somewhere else. All she could do was raise an eyebrow at him. "Nana there's a hot girl at 2 o'clock..." His voice was a bit breathless- err... as breathless as bear voices can be, so the girl got the impression that this "hot girl" was a little more than that.
It wasn't like Cadbeary to be attracted to random girls, and seriously, why was he commenting on- oh... Her eyes widened as she pushed the paw off of her face and let a long, drawn out sigh. "Cadbeary, if you want to go talk to the lady bear, go ahead. It's your birthday. You do you." His look could not have been more surprised. If she knew any less about him, she would have thought he squealed too.
"I can't just go talk to her. She's so- so... Gorgeous..." He let out a lovestruck sigh at the last word, and his eyes drifted back over to him. One could say Nana was fed up with his shit, but she was nicer than that. She was only slightly agitated, and that's what prompted her to rise from her bench and make her way over to the other bear. Cadbeary, freaking out, followed her. The bear knew her well enough to know that a) she was going to talk to the female bear and b) he couldn't do anything to stop her.
