Whether it was Sundial's designers or their usual clientele's sensibilities that were at fault, Erin could not tell. If asked, she would say she did not care, either, though that would most likely be a lie. The young witch did care a lit about market research, because any situation could be turned into a business opportunity. She was just too upset currently to consider anything beyond how frustrating it was to be unable to find any garments she liked enough to replace the many others that her familiar had ruined.
You really ought to exercise more self-control, Siri, she tells the vampire bat as her heels take her to yet another boutique that is sure to let her down once more. Erin is almost tempted to give up now and send an errand girl to do all this work for her instead, but she realizes two things first: one, she did not trust anyone to have a fashion sense good enough to be in charge of her wardrobe, assuming she was mentally capable of delegating such a task at all; and two, she was getting a different vibe from this next shop.
It was small. Smaller than the other boutiques in that same street. Definitely smaller than the ones she frequented in Mirrorlight. At a first glance, though, it had nothing to envy any of the other boutiques save from size. If anything, Erin was almost reluctant to let her hopes up when she caught a glimpse of a breathtaking sheer white dress. Her feet are attracted to it as much her eyes, and before she can formulate a comprehensive train of thought regarding the smooth lace being caressed by her fingertips, she's calling, "Excuse me."
Erin doesn't even know if there's any attendants to come to her call. She hasn't noticed anyone, busy as she is appreciating the garment. She doesn't raise her head, even then. If there was indeed someone, as she assumed there would be, they'd answer to her in due time. "Do you have this in black?"
Disappointing. The vast majority
of fashion Sundial had to offer was utterly disappointing, compared to the beautiful dresses she saw on a daily basis back in Mirrorlight. Such were Erin's thoughts as she exited yet another boutique in what she'd been promised was the best boulevard to find the latest trends in all of Sundial. Clearly, Sundial's standards are far below what I had in mind, she muses to herself. Disappointment could even be heard in her mind.Whether it was Sundial's designers or their usual clientele's sensibilities that were at fault, Erin could not tell.
