this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
@lily • summoner • 20 • light • they/she • helios knight Commonly painted as cold, apathetic, unfeeling. Is actually pretty damn easy going, you just need to get them to defrost and not piss off their familiar, Cookie. Cookie will cut you. Lily will give you a blank look and shrug as this magical opossum cusses you out.
Friends? Sure, just ask for a hand with something and push her until she does something. Bribe her with fresh baked bread. Make her jealous of how much fun you're having. Appeal to her selfish, but soft heart - make her want to keep your friendship, make it valuable to her in even a minor way and it will only grow.
Anyone in Helios Knights should be easy pickings on making friends or "friends" with Lily - their magic so far is defensive or utility light spells. Kira kira sparkle, possum magical girl. Many can get a surprise at the unmotivated summoner easily saying yes and going along with plans, even if she doesn't give much input. Enemies? Yeah whatever, she has fox ears because of fights. Not too hard to hate her for having an affinity for summoning yet having no skill, nothing big to show for having it except being an unmotivated, softskinned brat. Yell all you want, show off all you want, she's beyond caring any more - not like she's going to change herself in a way that matters.
The identity and actual event that resulted in Lily's ears is not set in stone. The rest of her family has also not been set, and is open for creation. While Lily isn't completely disowned, she isn't very welcomed by them, and she's happy to keep to herself.
Lovers? Good luck getting a word out of Lily when it comes to romance. They don't see themselves as being worth of love yet, as their upbringing has been focused on showing your worth in how well you handle summoning magic. They most certainly have not had crushes, like watching the barmaid who can throw out the most rowdy customer without a sweat for a little longer than necessary, or hiding her totally not blushing face when that dancer-illusionist was in town.
@laslo • spellsinger • 22 • fire • they/them • silvertongue Laslo loves fireworks, crowds, bright colours. They have an affinity for spellsinging, though even if they didn't, Laslo would still have a love for music. Sure, they may be a bit reckless, and a Silvertongue, but you gotta break a few eggs and fulfill a kill contract to make a kicking rad cake right? Nothing wrong with at!
Friends? Laslo loves people. Well. Attention, they thrive on attention. They take to crowds like a fish to water. Befriend them, ask for a song, let them preen and show off for you. Need a hand on a mission? Sure, whatever that's cool too. Just make sure you're able to set boundaries and stick to them.
Enemies? Golly gee I wonder how they could ever make an enemy or two. Start with some good old Silvertongue morally grey mission taking and maybe some murder or two. Serve over a bed of skepticism and outright loathing that a spellsinger can garner. Pair with a hearty brew of LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS.
So Laslo has burned quite a few bridges and uh. Stabbed? Stabbed a few bridges. That is very much a thing you can do. They've done some dumb to outright malicious things to others all round Salem.
Lover? Love is lovely. Laslo loves love. Songs about love are fantastic for playing the crowd, getting some extra coin, changing the mood depending what love you sing about. Oh, has Laslo been in love? They love music. They love that people pay attention to them. They also are keeping a nice, big distance between committing to a relationship because that's some scary stuff dude, ain't having none of that hot diggity.
Look, the dumbarse basically self immolates once they realise someone is interested romantically - seriously romantically - in them. Don't let the reckless, zero shame throw you off, Laslo is a flustered idiot when it comes to personally navigating ~love~
@lily && @morgana Human-shaped slug meet wannabe smart pillow. Both summoners and both Helios- what could possibly go wrong?! Well let's see if busybody Morgana can drag encourage fox-girl into doing anything. Is pulling allowed? It could turn out quite humorous, naggy-nag grape-head here constantly hunting down foxy for this or that (pretty sure Morgana is gonna voluntold Lily into missions or something ridiculously responsible like that do you even work fluffybutt). Too bad Morgana can't cook worth shiz so all her bread offerings would be like... squishy charcoal. Maybe something will ooze, who knows. Also Morgana will be like a snorlax when it comes to Cookie-powered cursing, just bounces or absorbs it. And to think she was supposed to be an introvert.
Not sure if they would be friends or if they would that pair of: 'Let me help you!'- 'Let me sleep...' but I can make Morgana more annoying if that'll help. What do you think? Help a bruh out here.
PS. Morgana will face a biting oppossum to touch those ears. PSS. Cookie and Noi are probably going to despise one and other with a passion.
@laslo && @morgana Can Morgana just, like; stalk 'em? They do the music thing and its new and its flashy and she wants to know everything about mahou shoujo songyness. Never mind 'em probably being a murderer or whatnot, she's just gonna wanna follow 'em from behind those corners like those classical shy girls who turn out to be yanderes. Only it'll probably backfire on her. No- scratch that, it would be more surprising if said tactics didn't come back to bite her. I mean, she can't really socialize so pop-out human firework will probably scare the shiz out of her whenever they try to talk to her.
That being said, is this making sense? Cat and mouse, chase and be chased? Something different? Idek, it sounded and looked much more hilarious and ridiculous in my head.
May I just say that both your characters are lovely? I'd love to plot with both at some point, but for now I come with a couple ideas for Laslo and my girl. [break][break]
Vera would find Laslo and their past exploits to be outrageous. She'd also find them infinitely interesting—because of their affinity, because of their gender, because of the way they handle themself in public. She'd try to stay away by default simply because of their affiliation, but would find herself circling back to them; she's just so intrigued. [break][break]
I think she could learn a lot from them, and in turn Laslo could get all of the attention and praise they need, along with some tasty treats. I plan to give Vera a development arc in which she gets to really explore her gender and sexuality, novel concepts that her family traditionally shuns. It's so bad they don't even entertain the possibility. Laslo's insight on gender would be lit, if you're okay with them influencing her. [break][break]
And that's all I got for the time being. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, if you want to add or subtract to the idea, or anything at all, I'm all ears. ♥︎
just to make my cBox natterings a little official @morgana & @lily summoner buddies making fox/owl cafe is go
@morgana & @laslo laslo keeps wondering how these random pyrotechnics are coming from cause they didn't plan that, and have to not flinch and incorporate the SUDDEN LOUD NOISE AND COLOURS into their performance
Vera Lindt & @laslo yes good gender nonconforming magic buddies with conflicting covens but FRIENDSHIP ANYWAY, bonding over fireworks and arguing over things like the moralities of what Silvertongue mercs do
meeting? Kind of like... Laslo notices her at a few of their corner performances or at a tavern or two, and tries to rope her into a song? Or they bond over fireworks at a festival or something! Bumping into each other while buying hair care.
@laslo && @morgana Purely hypothetical... unless they are truly setting things on fire. Then I would suggest a mission involving matches, gunpowder, and probably a very bad store owner. There are too many buildings in Sundial anyway, plus its free deconstruction. What a deal! *happy-man-thumbs-up* Otherwise the brain only imagined 'explosive', aka normal; conversing involving a fleeing-stalking Morgana and all her awkward glory.
I need that hair dye incident we joked about in the cbox to happen. I need it in my life. I think it'd be even more hilarious if this happened after they already know each other, after they've already learned about each other's affinities and affiliations. They're just chilling one day, talking about everything and nothing, the topic of hair care springs up, and Laslo says just as an afterthought, "Hey, weren't you an alchemist?" And then it all comes spiraling down into chaos. [break][break]
Since both are fire element witches, I think it'd be adorable if they met while trying to make fireworks. Guns don't exist in this world, but black powder is needed for fireworks so. Maybe one of them is playing around with fire and powder and making pretty sparkles somewhere very public. A park, perhaps. Somewhere legal, ideally. The other's attention is piqued and when they get closer they go WHOA, and they bond over fireworks and useless but pretty applications of their fire affinity?
