this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
The smell of smoke wifting throughout the air, the bustling streets, the roaring sound of family members calling out to each other - it was all so nostalgic. It reminded Phillip of the days when these deafening sounds and repugnant smells lulled him asleep, creating a blanket of distractions to cloud his mind from the harsh realities of life. While, these sounds still surround his apartment, it isn't the same. The local crazy man's rants aren't as clear as before, and even the gossiping middle-aged women weren't loud enough to catch his attention. Sometimes, when the apartment is completely silent, Phillip rushes to the balcony in hopes he'll catch a glimpse of his past. Today he did.
"Alrighty! So we have to go alllllll the way over there!" He proclaimed, pointing north of their location. The path they seek was blocked by hundreds of bodies jamming their way through the crowd, all hoping to reach a different destination. It was no secret that this mission was going to be a pain. Phillip's eyes skimmed the crowd, hoping to detect some other path to their destination: Lux University. "Found it!" Without explaining, he snatched his brother's hand, dragging him through the crowd. Maneuvering through this sea of strangers proved to be challenging, but that didn't stop him from ducking beneath waving arms, swerving around angry men, and hoping over children. He didn't even care to think about how his brother was doing - all that occupied his mind was his goal.
Phillip eventually broke free of the crowd, ending up in an empty alleyway. Rats scurry across the ground, avoiding all contact with the two witches. Thank god. "If we just follow this path, take a right, then another right, then a left, then a right again, we should get there in time." He explained with a proud grin. Living off the streets had allowed him to have a generally good idea about where everything is. Besides, Lux University was one of his favorite places to visit - it's where his parents used to work at.
Parker never exactly liked being around people. The hustle and bustle of the city wasn’t exactly where he wanted to be. He’d rather be inside reading, on a rooftop relaxing or even in the park. Even though he likes to stay away from them normally, at least they can be quieter than...this. The roaring of the crowd with the whining and screaming children was going to give him a migraine. He pushed his glasses up and sighed, the light reflecting off of them for a moment as he did so. The light combined with the sound? He was sure to have a raging headache by the end of the day.
He followed his younger brother, pushing and shoving his way through the crowd, not bothering to say anything to get them to move. He sighed as he made his way through, muttering to himself, “This is ridiculous...we could be doing so much more important things, like practicing or studying...but no, instead we have to deliver these stupid presents…” Parker kept mumbling as he continued through the crowd.
All of a sudden, Parker felt his hand grabbed and was yanked forward causing him to start running through the crowd. Phillip had no problem avoiding the crowd, but as Parker was pulled, he started bumping into everyone who came into his path until eventually people started going around them. Finally they emerged from the crowd into an empty alleyway, rats scurrying away, probably worried one of the two would crush them. Parker dusted off his black t-shirt and then his jeans before looking up at their destination...Lux University. Parker winced at the sight but then shrugged as Phillip mentioned the directions and that they should probably be on time. He gestured for Phillip to continue and said, “Well then, lead the way. You were the one who dragged me along in the first place after all.”

Phillip responded with a slight nod, already mapping out their destination. If his memory served him correctly, there would only be a few hiccups in their path, and even those wouldn't be considered huge problems. He takes a deep breath. Then, without discussing it further, the teen sprinted down the alleyway, already knowing his brother is fully capable of catching up. Even if he's an old prune. It didn't take long for him to be greeted with the end of the alleyway, along with a tall fenced gate. Also known as: hiccup number one. Phillip came to a screeching stop upon noticing this, took another deep breath, then proceeded to climb the tall fence without even consulting his older brother.
The climb itself wasn't anything too difficult - the only mistake being the brief period of time when his foot caught caught. So, it was no surprise that Phillip managed to reach the other side in the matter of seconds. It even reminded of his love for climbing trees. Back then, he renowned for being the fastest tree climber within the entire city! Kids from all over neighborhood would watch him squash his opponents without even breaking a sweat. If only he could experience a moment like that again. Phillip took his head lightly - there is no time for thoughts like that. There are 3 different people out there awaiting these gifts, and there is no way in hell that he's gonna fail them OR Granny Claus.
"C'mon, Parker, we gotta go fast!" He said over his shoulder, already in a full sprint towards their destination. Luckily, the particular street they were in was fairly empty. There was the occasional mother and daughter here and there, but those duos were always easy to avoid compared to the horrors they just previously experienced. "Okay, we should be heading towards a right so-"
As Phillip stood there, mapping out their path, Parker leaned against a wall and crossed his arms. He thought about their destination as he waited for his brother to begin again. He thought of back when his parents would take him to the university and show him around and he would run around with Phillip while they worked. Those were simpler times...and arguably better times. Parker sighed and shook the thoughts from his head, walking towards Phillip. He was about to ask if they would continue, but then he took off, sprinting down the alley. Parker let a small smile slip, the corners of his mouth curving upward as he shook his head. He muttered, “You never change, do you…” and took off after him.
He got to the gate only a couple of seconds after his brother and looked up at it. Phillip almost immediately started to climb it and Parker shrugged his shoulders, following after him. Phillip was always a good climber, so Parker wasn’t really worried about him hurting himself. As for the potential trespassing...eh. They would figure it out if they got caught. Parker landed on the other side and sprinted after his brother again. Phillip looked at him and yelled something about going fast to which Parker rolled his eyes and replied, “Don’t see why we can’t just walk at a brisk pace...but alright.”
As they continued running, they saw some people walking who they easily avoided. Despite there being children with their parents, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the main road. That place was hell compared to this. Parker wasn’t focusing much on what was happening, so when he saw a little girl come skipping from around a corner, he didn’t have time to warn Phillip. He reached out to grab his little brother, but it was too late and he ran straight into the little girl. Parker skidded to a halt and looked at the two on the ground, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Maybe walking was a better idea…”

A small moan escaped his lips. It took a moment, but the reality of the situation eventually flooded back to him, leaving him in this state of daze. Should he apologize or just run? There's a good chance he'll never see this girl again, or even remember this occasion in general. She would probably forget of him too. Philip sighed. As good as that sounded, he knew that running away would be cowardly and lame as hell. He's a good guy, after all! Not a stinky ol villain. "Sorry 'bout that..." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his head gingerly, "I didn't see really see ya there. Are ya okay?" Phillip slowly rose to his feet, offering a hand towards her, hoping the kind gesture would amount to something."I-It's okay..." The girl said, her voice barely audible. She sounded like a small mouse attempting to be quiet, even though they're already are. "Um...I ha-have to go now..."
While part of him wanted to stop her from retreating, another part reminded him that she's a complete stranger. Why should be worried about her? If anything, he already asked if she was alright, so anything after that is optional. Yet.... "Hey, you don't have to go! My big bro and I are heading to Lux University if ya wanna join! It's like this super cool mission some Granny gave us. Sweet right?" As bright as his words were, his radiant smile wasn't enough to convey his feelings to her. So she continued to walk away. Phillip's eyes drifted onto Parker, almost begging him to explain what he did wrong. Sure rammed into her with the force of a thousand nuns, but he apologized! He even offered to take her along for the ride! Was he missing something?
Parker watched in silence as his brother and the girl got up. Parker looked expectantly at Phillip, hoping he would go up to girl but thinking he would run away like a scared rabbit. He didn't exactly have grace under pressure growing up. But to Parker's surprise, his younger brother walked over to the girl and apologized. He even held his hand out for her to take and to help her up. He smiled softly at the display, watching Phillip help the poor girl get back on her feet.
The girl had begun to walk off and Parker turned, ready to head out but then his little brother called out to the girl, inviting her on their mission. He turned around and chuckled, watching as Phillip attempted in vain to get the girl to come with them. She continued on her way, obviously not wanting to follow two strangers and he didn't really blame her. In fact, Parker though she was pretty smart to just walk away. However, Phillip didn't seem to feel the same way, looking to him with a confused expression. Parker kept the smile on his face and ruffled his brother's hair saying, "Don't worry about it bud. She's probably just being cautious is all. Now come on, we still have a deadline to make, yeah?" He took his hand off of Phillip's head, motioning for him to follow as he began walking off towards their destination. Parker could probably close his eyes and put two hands behind his back, and would still be able to navigate these alleyways better than most people could. Even his brother. After all, most of the work he's done involved extensive use of alleyways.
