Downtown sundial is bursting with activity since a coalition of new shops have taken it upon themselves to surprise Sundial with a festival. Stalls with vivid flowers and delectable free samples of fancy sweets line the road, while musicians and other performers draw in the crowds. With no single coven in charge of the festivities, the area is a veritable rainbow as the different businesses flaunt their wares, vying for the attention of the gainfully employed.
[break][break]
The day starts off with as intended, with great success as word of the event seems to spread around the city as quickly as a whisper on the wind. As foot traffic of excited customers increases, however, so to does the environment become increasingly attractive to pranksters (or, perhaps, opportunistic vendors). Flowers begin growing out of control, witches begin developing funny physical changes, and other antics begin to occur. It is eventually discovered that some potions, most of which were intended for sale, ended up in a variety of places they shouldn't have been: in sweets, batches of hot chocolate, and even splashed into the nectar of flower bouquets.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, by the time all of this was discovered, the situation had gotten too far out of hand for any single witch to reign it back under control.

Create or join a thread in Downtown Sundial, marked with [S&S] in the title, where your character partakes in the festival or its aftermath. At least one participant in each thread should be afflicted by one or more of the below potion effects. These threads have no completion deadline and no limit as to what characters participate. If your character makes three event posts by the end of March 10 (PST), please reply to this thread with a link for a reward! Extra event posts may earn additional rewards.
[break][break] Also, don't forget to check out The Shop!

[break][break]
Event threads are not required to be completed for basic event rewards -- however, if you complete your event thread (at any time -- after the deadline for basic rewards is fine), you may treat it as a normal non-event, non-mission thread when submitting a quest completion form. The event thread still needs to be related to the quest description, and there must be at least one other thread (of any type) submitted along with it.
[break][break]Alternatively, you may treat this event thread as a mission if you'd instead like to receive normal mission rewards upon thread completion. Please note that this will still take up 1 of your 5 mission slots if you choose this option.

[attr="class","stafftempitem"] (note: this batch causes the consumer's hair to turn bright pink color. may also affect familiars) COSMECEUTICAL APPLICATIONS: HAIR DYE SCROLL Sarah Glatzer runs one of the most popular salons for witches in Sundial. In a rather abnegated attempt at teaching witches of all ages and orientations how to care for their appearances, she published a book full of recipes for different concoctions that are sure to beautify even the ugliest duckling. All the potions in this book are patented and cannot be sold by anyone but her business, but Miss Glatzer encourages all witches to try brewing them at home. While illusionists may choose to change their appearance at will, the less fortunate witches are forced to recur to less practical alternatives. Hair dying potions may be fairly easy to brew, but this scroll offers a base recipe that does not only last longer than most commercial hair dyes. However it also has little impact on the a more sensitive person’s scalp. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] (note: this batch seems to have a delayed reaction, and results in an intense desire to cuddle) THE ALCHEMIST'S TRADE: HEART OF CUPID Once used, the witch that the victim lays eyes upon will become their object of intense obsession, love, desire, etc for a limited time. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"](note: this batch, for whatever reason, seems to attract small fluffy animals instead of monsters) APHRODITE’S DUST A potion that enhances the beauty of the user, making them radiate a magical and gorgeous aura. Unfortunately, it also makes monsters highly attracted to the witch. |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] (note: a potion mimicking the below transfiguration scroll, transforming the consumer's ears to those of a rabbit) BEASTS AND BECOMING, SCROLL #4 This scroll contains detailed lists of various kinds of ears, allowing the seasoned witch to replace ears of monsters, themselves, and other witches alike with more proficient ears - or ones less proficient if so inclined. As a result, it is a scroll with varied uses but quite challenging to cast properly (as with all transfiguration skills). |
[attr="class","stafftempitem"] (note: a potion mimicking the below plantshaping scroll, causing roses to grow all around the consumer) FORCE BLOOM In the wrong hands this technique can lead to an early death for plants, but with the right timing and proper care, it is integral to keeping a plant healthy and happy in trying times. A good plantshaper knows when to force a bloom and prepare the plant in question for a storm or other hardship. |

[break][break]Event Mission Prompts:
FLEDGELING RANK
- herald of love: The new gift shop in town has set up a stall where people can write love letters and have them be delivered by a cupid. That's you! You've been hired to find and deliver these love letters to their intended recipients while dressed as cupid. You're even required to sing some of the messages for those who pay extra.
- pet shop assistant: Some pet stores and animal rescues have set up stalls where some of the animals for sale can interact with the festival-goers. Since animals can be rather unpredictable, they've hired you as a helper to keep everything under control. Considering the chaos going on at the rest of the event, that's a tall order!
- pro designer: A high-end chocolate shop has taken up a large space in this event and hired people to help decorate the area. They need tinsel enchanted with a glittering glow to be hung from nearby buildings, a semi-sentient chocolate construct to be assembled, and, of course, their beautifully decorated store stock to be put out on display.
APPRENTICE RANK
- star of the show: You've been hired to put on a show to help draw in crowds. The nature of the show may be determined entirely by your skillset, as long as it draws the eyes and interest of potential shoppers!
- mall cop: Even without the added chaos of leaked potions, open-air markets always pose some risk for the shopkeepers. You've been hired to patrol the area, and discreetly deal with any dangerous or illegal antics.
- damage control: Once the potion effects begin to be noticed, the merchant alliance sets up a makeshift medical area with purifiers to undo the effects. You've been tasked with calming down the concerned masses and directing anyone who appears to be afflicted by the potions to this area (whether they want to go or not).
NOVICE RANK
- ace detective: You've been hired to find the person(s) behind the potion-induced chaos and bring in the culprit for questioning.
- substance control: To prevent further damage, you've been tasked with finding and confiscating whatever objects have been tainted by the unanticipated potions.
