this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Sundial City, true to its name, has always had the best weather; cloudless skies in a heat haze, the epitome of Summer weather. Cain rarely feels the chill of rainy days, but when it comes, it arrives with a heavy presence, like the Merlin himself had put it there. [break][break] Rain patters outside, loud against the dim chatter of the cafe. It's more sparse than its usual chaos, and Cain would even say that it's finally setted into the hipster coffee shop that it's supposed to be (Not that he dislikes the chaos--no, he loves it). With soft instrumental music playing in the background and hanging lights glowing in the din, Cain officially declares this as a free day for himself--no meetings nor missions, just him and relaxation. A perfect pair made in heaven. [break][break] He's quick to grab a coffee for himself, and with a book in hand, heads off to start his day. It's cozy and warm inside. Each stall that he passes is met with a wave or a greeting--at least, until he passes by a young witch. Stark white hair against a young face--she looks familiar. Probably a fledgling of some sort, hopefully a Jester's Den member; it wouldn't be the first time he'd approach and talk to someone not his own. [break][break] Regardless of who she was, he seeks to lift her mood anyways. A gentle touch of laughter can make anyone's day--and that's what he intends to do. Cain sets his cup down with a soft clatter and snickers. [break][break] "If the coffee's that bad, I'll buy you a new one." [break][break] tagged:ashanti verna notes: n/a

The Metropolis had had its fair share of bad weather. But Sundial ha a smaller share and therefore a larger effect. The rain seemed sudden and poured down angrily- hitting the concrete and the rooftops and the earth and the trees with all that it had- letting out the frustrations of the sky onto the witches that scattered like bugs underneath the weather.[break][break]
Asha sighed.[break][break]
Polaris mumbled under his breath. Why won't you ever be happy? he asked, no doubt referring to Asha's recent promotion to apprentice in the Helios Knights. Polaris was right. She should be happy. And yet she felt no such accomplishment at her own feat. She felt like they had just tossed it her way after having been in the knights for more than a year and a half. After all, she could barely transfigure anything properly. [break][break] When she heard the sound of a cup clattering, she blinked and her head zipped (almost like she was guilty) towards the new person. She relaxed at the sight of the seemingly harmless male. [break][break] "N-no, the coffee's fine. Tastes just like how I'm feeling. Besides, I really couldn't ask that of a stranger!" She laughed nervously, holding her cup upwards in a gesture of peace. Was that what your average coffee eater did? [break][break] She didn't know. [break][break] "Do you like the rain?" she asked suddenly, finding herself desperate for a conversation to get her out of this hell of negative thoughts. Hopefully nothing showed on her face.
She sighs, wistful and hopeless. A familiar sound; one that he's heard time and time again in the cafe ( and from himself, at times ). When his coffee clatters on the table, she jumps slightly, and she quickly turns her head to look at him. Guilty eyes meet his own before she relaxes, seeing that he's ( more or less ) harmless. [break][break] "What was that?" [break][break] She mutters quickly under her breath, and to his chagrin, he hears nothing of it--although judging from her hesitant laugh, it's not very pleasant. She holds out her coffee like an offering, and he can't help but laugh along at such innocence. [break][break] "No worries, I happen to know the owner." He says with a cheeky wink. Cain lifts his mug from it's own place and lightly touches it against hers with a soft clink. "Cheers?" He offers, before taking a sip. [break][break] He slides into the seat across from her, and takes a glance outside. Rain splatters against the windows, waves of thumps and patters that would drench him angrily if he stepped outside. He watches as witches hastily run down the sidewalk --some of them bustling into the doors of the cafe. Their boots track water onto his pristine floor, and he thinks to put a placemat there in the future. [break][break] "It makes everything wet and cold. And people stay inside than go in the rain." He sighs, pointing to the mess that was at the door of his cafe. Cain leans his chin on a palm and laughs slightly. [break][break] "But I guess the world needs rain as much as it does sunshine."

Asha sort of glossed over the fact that the man had remarked that he knew the owner. It didn't quite register that the Sun Cafe wasn't an ordinary cafe, or that knowing the owner would implying knowing the leader of Jester's Den or something similar. Currently, for Ash, the biggest deal was this depressing day and her depressing mood. So the only thing that did register was that this total stranger was laughing at her.[break][break]
The white-haired girl pouted angrily. "Hey, don't laugh---" she's interrupted by the clink of his glass against hers, and she blinks rapidly before sighin in defeat. "Cheers," she says finally. For some reason, she feels an instant bond with this kindred stranger: like she doesn't need to pretend to be at her one-hundred percent. His presence if comfortable, and it's the kind of aura Asha immediately picks up on, primarily because it's the kind of aura she wants to weild some day. [break][break] It's the feeling that reminds her of her sister. [break][break] "Exactly. The rain is dumb." She smiles a little when he points to the mess of muddied footprints and puddles of rainwater. She looks up at him and then out of the window. Asha sighs. "Why'dyou think that? Wouldn't it be nicer to just have sunshine--with a nice breeze every now and then?" She asks, fleetingly. And then her violet eyes sharpen and she hastily adds: "If you give me a dumb analogy fact manual about crops, fruits and flowers..." [break][break] Frankly, she was sick of facts and people pointing out the obvious. She wanted to hear and about dumb things. Like dreams and feelings. Somehow, she felt like the stranger would instinctively understand her. Somehow, she felt like she would actually like the answer he'd give.
