this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

The first thing Ashanti came to learn about the Helios Knights was that they did not sit on their hands much, if at all. Right after her performance with the little vault downtown, she had been added to a line up of witches responsible for patrolling the docks. At night.[break][break] Admittedly, she was scared. The night was dark and dangerous and she had little to no experience with this. And weren't the ports supposed to be reeking with criminals and things worse than criminals? Polaris murmured encourage thoughts into her mind, but he didn't let her off without an eye roll comment of: If you're like this now, what will you do against the creatures beyond your safe little walls? [break][break] Well, she'd jump that ledge when she got there thank you very much. Besides, the coven had recognized her inexperience as a fledgling and had placed her on the shortest route for the shortest time until she would be taken over by a senior official. [break][break] Nothing could go wrong, right? Her knights crest glistened softly in the moonlight, almost enough to hide the quick movements of her eyes, looking for something darting across the shadows. Something that wasn't there, she reminded herself. Something that wasn't...
he's grown awfully fond of nighttime - it does, after all, favor the likes of himself: a thief. it's a bad habit that he's had the pleasure of being acquainted with. you'd think after a few years of actually making an income he'd drop the thievery, the deception. but no, money isn't the problem - it hasn't been for a while. the problem is that he likes it. it fills him with an addictive thrill that he just can't get enough of.
it's a good thing the silvertongues are very flexible when it comes to their members. he's seen witches worse than him - compared to them his thievery is child's play. if it's not hurting anyone then why not have a little fun?
he scrunches his nose as he props his foot up against the wall, leaning against the side of the old building by the port. it smells awful. but then again, it's expected from the ports. he hears idle footsteps that never grow louder. no one approaches him. he grows tired of waiting, and he's about to take his leave when lyr stops him, whispering something exciting into his ear. he raises an eyebrow, focusing on the footsteps.
one grows louder. someone approaches him. he's about ready to rob them of their possessions when lyr interrupts, muttering something about a girl. he dismisses robbing her for now. something lyr said sticks with him. he lets it sit in the back of his mind for now as he waits for her to approach.
eventually the footsteps reach their loudest volume - the girl steps right next to him. "it's not safe at this time of night." he pushes himself off the wall. "ports are dangerous - filled with nasty people, you know?" he turns to her and smiles, charmingly.

Why do the walls have to be so compact? It feels like she can hardly breathe with this stuffy smelly air. She wants to retire for the night already, or just summon Snowflake and cuddle against him. But she's grown, she reminds herself. It's just walking alone in the dark. She's done plenty of that...yet she can't deny that something somewhere puts her on edge. It's in the air, she thinks.[break][break] "Ah!" she says, alarmed as her shoulders jolt automatically in the opposite direction. The ringing sound her heartbeat makes leaves whatever words the man uttered practically inaudible, but she thinks she catches the gist of what he's saying. Asha's disarmed quickly by his charming smile, although moments before her fingers had curled at her side, ready to summon Snow at a moment's notice. [break][break] "Haha, yeah, you're right," she mumbles sheepishly as Snow roars into her mind, begging to be let out to protect her better. One of her fringes catches in her eyes (years later and she somewhat misses her old hairstyle, but it's too similar to her sister to take up again) and she pulls the strand away, looking up at the white haired male who looks, in some respect, as though they could be siblings. [break][break] "You wouldn't happen to be one of them, would you?" She asks face lighting into a charming smile of her own design as purple eyes look up into another, almost identical set. She half wants to blabber about whether his hair color is natural or not and hi I'm Ashanti, and you are?, but she remembers the reason she's here. And, somewhere in the back of her mind, the seriousness of that infuriating black-haired boy still rings true. She has a purpose.

her alarmed reaction is as expected, and it provides him with a small amount of amusement in on this otherwise dull night. "that's up to you to decide." a chuckle escapes him along with a shrug. loose strands of hair hang over his forehead - they're long enough to cover parts of his eyes, but not enough to hide the bright purple hue that still glistens in the night.
out from around the corner behind him comes lyr, scampering on all fours. he leaps and latches onto the back of casimir's leg before climbing up onto his shoulder, where he hangs comfortably with his stomach rested. his front two legs hang off the front of casimir's shoulder. lyr shakes his head. "he's definitely one of them! look at this face--" lyr gestures to casimir's face with a paw. "what's a pretty face like this doing down at the port this late at night?" there's a grin on lyr's face.
"shhh." casimir shakes his head, laughing. "you don't get a say in this. besides, won't that make you a nasty familiar?" more laughter follows. lyr shuts his little mouth up which allows casimir to return his attention to the girl in front of him. something about her strikes a spark of curiosity in him. so he pries. "are you one of them? you don't look like it. too cute to be nasty." he steps forward closer to her, the same charming smile still apparent. "but then again, looks can be deceiving."

It takes all she has not to panic, but she knows that if she summons Snow here some cargo is bound to get damaged, and she can't risk that stain on her reputation. Half of her wishes Jester's Den had found her instead, but that's just a fleeting thought now. Asha's already walking backwards, fumbling away from the narrowed passage and into the more open, breezy area of the pier. She may be moving away from her patrol point, but something in her head just strikes as wrong.[break][break] "Up for me to decide?" she asks, a little accusingly and then curses her loud mouth. Just a few more steps now. She's jolted again by something scampering around her legs, and suddenly a sliver of white has raced up the boy's leg and onto his shoulder. She blinks and her eyes soften for a bit. What a cute familiar. [break][break] However, what it says is anything but reassuring, and Ashanti finds herself nervously laughing along to the bickering of the strangers. She's probably managed to squeeze back to where she came from, and she hastily consults with Snow. What should I do? Do what you feel is right. Oh you're a great help. [break][break] She hasn't quite mastered her facial expressions, so an observant person could easily pick up on the fact that she apparently rolled her eyes. And it would be a little too obvious to tell why. She distractedly turns back to the man in question, caught off guard by his query. "Huh?" She's practically never been labeled as nasty in her life so she shakes her head sincerely. "Nothing beyond the ordinary here. But what about you? Why are you here, in the middle of the night?"
She's glad she's had the presence of mind to ask that question before he could. Staying in the open has made her a little confident, but the stronger moonlight makes the agitation in her eyes all the more apparent.
