this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
[attr="class","textieno"]Xuan finds himself before a solid door without much thought to where exactly he was going after a 'meeting' with a client of his at hireling's keep.[break][break]
He needed to process the information, organise his plans and somehow he ended up before Saksia Burovski's door while strolling along the Silvertongue's building. Perhaps it was because of the numerous times he had traced his steps to this very door he had opened to present to her a new place to live as well as a new life.[break][break]
Dear, dear Saskia Burovski. He really didn't have the heart to tell her about her brother's betrayal of Ju but then again did he even have a heart? The beautifully fragile child reminded him of a dove he once held in his hand, it's small heartbeat drumming against his palm as it looked at him. With a twist of his fingers, he could crush its neck but he hesitated and watched the bird hop off and fly along its merry way. Till this day he wasn't completely sure what he felt at that time.[break][break]
He stares at the door again, shaking off residue feeling and gentle raps a pattern on the wood, a secret pattern they shared when they were younger and invented before Kasimir had done what he had.

there is rarely an idle moment in saskia's life. certainly, she lags behind in the activity of other witches ( and she considers the witches of silvertongue, ever bustling in and out of the keep, ever busy ), but her time is otherwise preoccupied with the perusal of old books.
today is one of such days: she is sprawled across the covers, luci partially draped over her like a blanket. she can feel the bear's steady heartbeat against her back, a sound oddly reassuring, and the only other one apart from the gentle scratch of paper against paper as she turns yellowed pages. a cup of tea sits abandoned on the dresser, forgotten as she sinks deeper into the story; if she closes her eyes, and imagines, the room melts away to open grasslands paved only with infinite possibilities--
there is a gentle series of knocks on the door, familiar and welcome. saskia is all too eager to scramble to the door -- "coming!" -- and upon opening it, beams a sunny smile. "xuan!"
[attr="class","textieno"]He was greeted by a blinding smile and for a moment he just stared back. A rush of warmth beguiled his mind momentarily before he was able to return a smile of his own. Something about her ability to remain that fragile bird while also putting on a brave front always made Xuan pause, even if it was for a heartbeat.[break][break]
"Saskia." He voice was soft, as if he was almost afraid to shatter whatever peace there was before he had arrived. "It's been a while. How are you doing?" His question was posed equally as soft as before. For some reason, he felt slightly weakened in her presence. She was something that was seemingly unreachable even though her life was in his grasp and he could snuff it at any time. The trust she had in her eyes terrified him whenever he looked at her but he forces himself to look anyway, if only for the sake of serving as a powerful warning to her brother.[break][break]
Xuan glanced at the space behind her, wondering if the stoic brother of hers was also around. Seeing no sign of the other red-head glaring back, his shoulders relax just a tad and his breathing slowed down. He allowed his gaze to meet hers again and for a brief second, he felt almost normal as if he was actually among family. He laughed that thought away but his gaze still unknowingly remained softer than what is usual.[break][break]
Then he is suddenly reminded he was still awkwardly standing in front of her door from the whispers behind him and he cleared his thoughts. "I'm trying to make candied apples. Would you like to try some?" He produced a paper page of the treat, silently thanking Xue Mei's sweet tooth that had him constantly carrying all sort of treats and candies around.

there is a pause before she sees an answering smile -- she does not think much of it, except that perhaps he must be tired, he's always working so hard! her grin is soft, radiant, respect and admiration alike palpable in her eyes. "i've been well," she responds, and truly, it seems as though xuan as caught her on one of her better days, where breathing is easy and not a conscious effort of will.
"i'm trying to make candied apples. would you like to try some?"
there is hardly any hesitation. "of course i would!" she exclaims, delighted, and receives the treats happily. for a moment, it seems as though she is about to eat it right there and then, just standing there in the doorway, but her familiar gives a small grunt of a reminder from behind her. saskia catches herself, blinks, and looks back up at xuan, the treats cradled in her palm as though they were some precious gems. "thank you so much!"
she steps aside, and with a sheepish smile, waves a hand vaguely towards the inside of her room. "uh, do you want to come in?"
[attr="class","textieno"]An amused smile streched across his face, even lighting the pale blue eyes to an extent. Xuan went to pet the tiny girl on the head as he walked pass. [break][break]
"Hello Luci." He greeted the bear familiar before settling himself comfortably on his usual spot on the couch, scanning the room for any new changes. "So, what mischiefs has the younger Burovoski and her lovely companion been up to recently?" He asked, looking fondly at the girl by the doorway holding the bag of candied apples.[break][break]
"THOSE ARE MINE!" He heard Xue Mei roar and chuckled. "I promise I'll make more for you the second we get back. I'm just worried that you'll start growing cavities with the amount you're eating every day." [break][break]
With a growl she appeared on his lap giving his arms a good scratch with her claws accompanied with a nip on the cheek before disappearing off again. "Well it looks like someone's mad at me." He laughed, examining the cuts and scratches.
