this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
"Bad idea!" he kept mumbling to himself as panic flooded his body, both from the sound of footsteps and the waves and waves of people bashing against him. He was elbowed in the eye, headbutted in the nose and eventually shoved to the floor. Afraid, he curled himself up into a ball, feet trampling all over him as he yelped and whimpered like an injured deer.
And still no Arveen.
Then a strange light flooded the cavern. And just like that, every single person had been ensnared by what seemed like light. Sybil's wrists had been tied, dragging him to the side of the wall where he was then utterly hopeless.
"Sy- Sybil Chime! A group of witches ventured out here to investigate the red light and encountered a group of women, village folk had gone missing while one woman had been cursed or something, please we mean no harm!”
TLDR; bruised, gets tied up. Says his name and what they've seen so far (very briefly).

THERE WAS NO LIGHT I SWEAR I COULD SEE A REARING FEAR
The darkness of the cave seemed to be consumed by an unknown ethereal light, rocks lying just above them spindling within the air before light colored threads pushed her towards the walls of the caves; binding her movements alongside others that were within the room. Lucena winced at the uneasiness, bruises and the small cuts that decorated her body stinging at the uncomfortable press though it was understandable.
Her red gaze focused on the commanding figure before them, his own clothes tattered and equally in dismay as the others within the same cave, “Lucena Zamóre. He speaks the truth, we’re just a handful of witches out of several that went to go investigate the strange red streak in the sky. Truth be told, unexpected things have happened.” She explained, remaining calm in the presence of Bailey; Lux University was one of the few things she did upon returning to Sundial.
tl;dr: Lucena introduces herself to Bailey and remains calm in his presence, backs up Sybil's story because it is the truth after all. Never spoken, but she did attend Lux University.

that was you.
the sudden light, the appearance of the one and only bailey renico ( he had heard zephyr talk about him before ) -- it is one of the last things he expects. he finds himself unable to move, pinned against the cave wall as the other members explain the situation. breathe. think. as far as he knows, and as far as he can see, this witch is neither their quarry nor enemy.
"maddox," he says, his thoughts immediately elsewhere, his voice sharp with worry. "we split into three -- we were to locate the man that tried to lead their sister away and triggered the curse. but."
"you're not him. one group is at the temple, fighting the monster; he's probably not there either. the group that went towards the village in search of a cure, though, they might--" he knows close to nothing about bailey. but."--if you can, help them."

Sima really didn't like this. Bound in an instant and unable to get free. At least she wasn't on fire, though. Bailey, Bailey, were they telling the truth? Against a witch like this, though, Sima knew they didn't stand a chance. "I'm Sima. I'm a woodworker from Sundial. I'm part of this valunteer group to investigate the red streak outside." She explained as she veiled her eyes. The sudden light ached and it took a few moment for them to painfully adjust, but when they did she lowered her hand. "What are you doing here? In this cave. Who were those people?"
he frowned deeply at the statements of the group. adventurers? could he trust that? he had no idea. but he realized that there were more than a dozen prisoners, and when they spoke of three sisters and a traveler, he knew at once they were speaking the truth. [break][break] the ropes vanished and the dull hologram of a dozen different books appeared around bailey in a circle- his aetheneum interface. "you are wrong, maddox. i did meet with a lass a few days ago. isobelle, her name was. she bandaged my leg. we talked a bit. and then she told me to run at the sight of her sisters. so i came here in search of answers." the light spreads to the passage where bailey came from, and in the other room are shelves upon shelves of books. [break][break] "there is no curse. but i had a feeling they would tell you something like that. this is worse than i thought. unfortunately, everyone is in danger. the ones at the temple the worst of all. those sisters- the women that led you here. they are wielders of extremely dangerous magic. possibly the worst to have ever existed." [break][break] his heart spins in his chest. things are getting out of hand. he doesn't have the time to explain what's going on. "i will help them. i promise you this. but first, i need your help. free the prisoners. unless i'm mistaken, they should be villagers of beaumains. i will create a portal outside that links back to sundial. as soon as you get there, page the knights. if you can get your hands on an acolyte- luna, or even medeia..tell them it's an emergency. and send them to the portal's location."[break][break]
"the rest of you, follow me." [break][break]
bailey leads them outside the cave. there, he casts two spells: a modified version of the classic zippero that enables transport without the need of items as catalysts. the blue thread leads back home- the red thread leads to the temple. they both act like supersonic ziplines- it'll be one hell of a ride. for now, their journey has come to an end.

ooc notes
Congratulations, the group is no longer in danger. [break]break] bailey attempts to explain the situation but then urges that they rescue the villagers and act quickly. your character can join any group of their preference-- they will all have the ability to participate in an (optional) bonus round (thread E) regardless of their choice. for now, they have successfully completed their part of the event suixitium. using liquid time, it can be assumed that this thread chronologically ends around the same time as the others. post once more at your own pace to be eligible for rewards. [break][break]
[attr="class","intext"]Ah, so they'd been tricked? Sima wasn't sure exactly who was right: The two women or their sister. She didn't know enough about either to really be able to make a decision, but surely Bailey did, considering his position as the headmaster of the university. Sima would trust his opinion, because it was undoubtedly much more educated than her own. At least he was going to help them. Maybe because it was convenient to him, maybe because he cared, Sima didn't know, but the help was welcome and appreciated. This seemed much bigger than them already and she didn't want anyone coming back to Sundial a corpse.
"I'll go back to Sundial." She looked at Maddox as she spoke, eyes hard with determination. "Someone needs to help these people. I need to make sure they're taken care of. I suppose I'll see the rest of you in a bit, though." She flashed a smile, tired and forced under the stress of it all. At least the monster from before was gone. Was Bailey strong enough to kill it, she wondered. She would've liked to see that fight from a safe distance and with proper medical personnel on standby. She had no intention of delaying things, though, and so after a brief wave, she stepped to the blue thread and zipped back to Sundial.

that was you.
at the explanation, moosely lets out a string of expletives and threats, each growing more anatomically impossible as he continues, and maddox wisely chooses not to relay this mental conversation. but he falls silent, attentive, as bailey explains what he can, and there are more questions spinning around in his mind, but the danger dictates they move immediately.
he nods tersely in agreement, stands cautiously ( mentally berates himself for the stupidity of trusting those women -- who on earth trusts a bunch of suspicious cursed individuals in the middle of a forest? ) and begins to free what villagers he can. bindings untied, blindfolds deftly removed, and he steps away to give them a little more space.
sima informs them of her decision to head back to sundial, and he cannot do much more than say simply, "see you in a bit." a reassuring smile matches her own. then, he too is off, following bailey and stepping onto the red thread, ignoring the twinge of pain in his ankle. to the temple!

THERE WAS NO LIGHT I SWEAR I COULD SEE A REARING FEAR
Lucena breathed out when the ethereal strands that bound her to the cavern disappeared in a matter of moments and she moved to step away from the wall that she was tied to, her hand reaching to rub the discomfort in her arm away though her gaze remained fixated on Bailey. Her brows furrowed when he claimed that Maddox was wrong, the confusion slowly slipping away when he continued his explanation about the sisters; how the sisters warped the truth about the curse– the lies they blatantly told their group when they arrived.
Her thoughts soon turn to her sibling and within the same strand she thought about Claire, her face paling at the disasters that either of them could have faced while she stuck fumbling in a once darkened cave. Instinctively, she places her hand on the necklace that Claire had given her prior to this mess and she allows herself to relax; the tenseness she felt in her muscles slowly fading away.
“Of course, it would only be right to help out.” She mumbles under her breath, slowly pushing herself away from the wall to remove the blindfolds from the prisoners; mind focused and hands moving swiftly to remove the binds she could. There truly were some perks for living in a forest for quite some time, she understood their fear, she understood their desire for survival.
She soon steps away from the last prisoner she freed from their restraints and she turns to Bailey when he requests that their group follow him out of the cave. Lucena pressed her hand against the wall of the cave instinctively as she followed the head towards the exit of the cavern, eyes narrowing when the light outside grew stronger. However, she was quick to adjust to the new circumstance and she glanced between the two different colored threads; her mind pushing out any conversation the rest of her team were having. She didn’t particularly care for it.
Lucena moves past the blue thread and towards the red without hesitation, vaguely recalling someone had planned to return to Sundial anyways. She stepped onto the red thread after Maddox (she believed), more than ready to face whatever was at the temple.
tl;dr: Basically really salty about being lied to by those sisters and now worried about Astartia + Claire. She helps whatever prisoners she can before following Bailey outside. She chooses the red thread because she is more than ready to rumble.
note: Hope there was no word count for this because this post is a little extra.
