this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Raven steps on the arena with the same confidence she wears during her shows. The crowd cheers, and Raven urges them on with a flick of her wrist and a flip of her hair. Her dolled up face glows faintly under the sun. Today she does her make-up, making it look fairly unnoticeable from the distance.
Her high-waist skirt is short, her tank top sports the letters S T A R S. She holds her wand in her right hand, and points it towards her opponent. The crowd goes wild, then, at the blatant show. Oh, she knows this girl. Wannabe heiress, blind knight. Raven scoffs when she realizes that. A blind starcaller, what even is this petty girl?
"Doe-eye," Raven calls. "You're going down."
The white-haired performer, then, strikes a graceful pose, and holds her wand up high with the tip pointing to the sky. Golden energy starts collecting on the tip of Raven's wand, and when it's the size of a baseball it diffuses to a laser pointer, effectively illuminating the constellation of the big bear high up in the sky.
Light shines down on Raven, far brighter than that of sun's rays. Raven receives the blessing of Ursa Major.
Raven then cracks her knuckles, feeling refreshed. Strength surges on her muscles, and she aches to punch that girl and knock her lights out. "Bring it," she says, and begins her catwalk to Aisling. She's blind, this should be easy.
"Don't you forget what's at stake," Dai reminds her, stalking forward as well.

She stands calmly in the middle of the arena, poised and collected in the midst of the cacophony of noise as she faces her opponent. Night and day, she knows they look like: Aisling has ink-dark hair to Raven's white, pale lavender eyes to Raven's red, serenity to Raven's blatant confidence; and yet, they mirror each other in fundamental ways. Lyze perched on her shoulder all but radiating dignity, wand held loosely in hand, she knows she looks the part of the perfect unperturbed heiress her family expects of her.[break][break]
Internally, however, is another matter altogether. [break][break]
She is not prepared for this. She is not ready for this. Aisling is not one to participate in duels no matter what her family has forced her to practice, no matter what her family traditions are, no matter what her obligations as Fei heiress are. She does not like fighting. She cannot see, no matter what forms of compensative magic she has learnt, no matter how much she has practice in orientating herself through Lyze; Aisling in no way desires to duel Raven in this exhibition match. [break][break]
But, her wants are secondary to that of her responsibilities. She will duel today, and she will try her best to finish victorious, no matter how unlikely she personally thinks it is. [break][break]
A comforting weight on her shoulder, there's a soft rustling next to her ear as Lyze shifts, talons tightening their grip. "How uncivilised," he remarks at their opponent's words, distain evident his tone and pitched just loud enough to be heard. 'She's making a move,' he tells her, eyes narrowed.[break][break]
Quietly, Aisling borrows her familiar's eyes ( SCROLL OF THE SENSES ) to observe Raven Delacroix, carefully taking note of both their positions and their distance to each other. The other starcaller seems to be in no hurry to reach her; probably due to her blindness, Aisling thinks with mild annoyance. None of it shows on her face. 'Probably a strength based blessing,' she muses to her familiar, and receives a general feeling of agreement. 'Shall we...?'[break][break]
Another agreement, this time tinged with vindication. She lets her hold over Lyze's vision fade into her customary darkness while she breathes evenly in preparation; then, on a mental count of three, she and Lyze launch a simultaneous blast of wind ( FIERCE GALE ) as strong as they can manage.
Deep inside, Raven's a wreck. All those years at Lux University, and this is all? Why couldn't there be more? Raven freezes there, with no way to defend herself. She attempts to shield her face with her arms, all to no avail. The blessing of Big Bear does her little facing the gust of wind. She's blown back, though she manages to keep her balance and her dignity by standing her ground. What's more, her perfect hair is ruined.
But most importantly, as she and Dai notes, she's been hit. Right at the first minute. Raven grits her teeth as the crowd ooh'd at the scene.
"Dai!" she calls.
The deer makes his move and gallops towards Aisling's direction. He moves forward but Both the witch and the familiar channels the heat of fire. Raven points her wand at Aisling. The tip begins to smoke, and soon enough a small ball of fire materializes. With a strengthened arm Raven lobs the ball at her opponent (CREATION).
From Dai's antlers materializes a ball of fire (CREATION), too, and with a quick jerk of his head, aims it towards Aisling.
Even now Raven feels the strain of using magic. It's bad enough that she has used both a technique and a scroll, but Dai's been using magic as well. Raven stands her ground, breathing deep. She realizes that the Ursa Major would probably be useless on her considering she's not the one closing in... so she would have to give it to Dai somehow.
'You should have thought of that before you became cocky,' Dai says, a reprimanding voice in the back of her head. Raven only hmphs.

She does not actually expect their fierce gale to hit, but she is pleasantly surprised when it does. Aisling does not see the impact, of course, but the flare of smug triumph from Lyze and the roar from the crowd tells her all she needs to know. Wordlessly, she reaches for her familiar's eyes (SCROLL OF THE SENSES) again - there will almost certainly be retribution incoming soon.[break][break]
And she is right. Raven's deer familiar is galloping straight towards her, but more concerning is the duel balls of fire rapidly incoming. She ducks out of the way, then rapidly attempts to reorient herself. 'Lyze-!' she calls, alarmed, though none of it shows on her face. Her control over her sense scroll slips, and Aisling's world retreats back into unrelenting darkness. [break][break]
She evidently, evidently, needs to intensify her training in regards to magic. Aisling briefly hopes she is not entirely disappointing her family ( though she knows the truth of this impossible hope ).[break][break]
Her beautiful, beautiful familiar, thankfully, launches his own offense while she is still attempting to find her footing; Lyze launches another FIERCE GALE at Raven before advising her urgently, 'explode some stardust! now!' with a mental impression of direction. Aisling does as she is told (OFFENSIVE CAPACITIES OF STARDUST), trusting her familiar in their long-familiar routine; she hears the explosion take place, and not knowing if it had caught the deer familiar or not, follows Lyze's next urging to create a BLADE OF WIND.[break][break]
It flickers in her grasp, fading in and out of existence within her very fingers, but she hopes the threat of potential serious lacerations will at least make their opponents warier.
Now irritated--apparently Raven is more concerned with her hair than with the fact she has been hit--Raven runs straight towards Aisling. She wants to punch the blind girl in the face with several folds of strength from the blessing of the big bear.
"Raven, look out!" Dai yells. Raven is more aware now, and so this time she actually manages to evade the fierce gale by going into a wide arc. She feels her hair being blow back by the wind, but she does not falter in stalking Aisling. She notes the stance of the witch, and she squints, halting abruptly. She has not been caught by the explosion, and neither does Dai. The deer is quick enough to halt as well. He uses the explosion's after smoke and dashes forward again, this time not to Aisling, but to her familiar. His antlers catch fire again, and lobs three more fire balls to Lyze (CREATION). He notes the stance of the enemy, and jumps nimbly to evade the Blade of Wind.
He figures out that Aisling is at the same level as Raven for now. He could make out the blade even though it's supposed to be invisible, evidence of the witch's inexperience.
Raven, on the other hand, continues towards Aisling after the explosion. She might as well push herself to the limits, considering that Aisling is likelier to win now. A ring of fire surrounds Raven, then, a burning circle (RING OF FIRE) that would burn anyone that touches it. Then, Raven holds her hand forward, and in a swift minute, creates multiple starettes (THE STARMAKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY #2) between her and Aisling, hoping to magnet the girl into her--and her flame circle.
