this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

He’s quick, staying Parker’s heels as she and Nyla move them through shady streets towards the dog they’d just heard. He arms himself with treats all the same as Parker slowed down only to look up as he hears for the first time today trepidation in her voice. “What’s up?” he asked quickly, stepping to the side to observe too rather large, dirty looking sheep dogs play fighting with each other. He watches one of them sprint towards them, but he can recognize the dog somewhat. As it leaps forward Corvus is just about to tell Parker to relax before the woman drops onto the floor with a loud thud. “Parker?!” he yelps worriedly hoping she didn’t hit her head (or wrist…again).
[break][break]
But as the giant dog began licking his partner’s face, he lights up. “Wait- Is that my baby?? My big boy- is that Jojo??” he asked leaning forward, hands on his knees as he spoke to the large animal now currently in the middle of trying to make friends with the redhead. The dog seemed to respond to the name ‘Jojo’ and perked up excitedly, tail slapping around wildly as it barked loudly once more. The other dog, who’s a smaller version of Jojo, bounds up towards Corvus and calmly sits himself down before him. “Awww you’re so cute!!” he gushes giving the younger sheep dog a scratch behind the ears. “Look Parker!! I think Jojo made a new friend. This one’s so chill.” He said, far more amused by the situation than she was, probably.
[break][break]
After a few scratches he squatted down to begin putting collars on the dog, dropping a few treats at its feet to distract it. Jojo continued sitting on Parker, demanding scratches…and also treats like its younger brethren.

[attr="class","pwfbody"] what a horrible day. what a horrible day filled with too many dogs and too much unnecessary pain. fuck, after this, if she still can't get that promotion, she might just give up on climbing up through silvertongue in the first place. if they're going to waste her talents on this, then does she really need it? [break][break]
she struggles underneath the dog, breath stretched taut as she tries her best to wriggle out from under the beast. but then she relaxes with an aggravated sigh and turns her cheek away from the dog's tongue. her nose wrinkles. "corvus, how do you like these things? ugh." the smell is awful, the weight on her is awful, hells, her partner is awful. and she'll be damned before she actually asks him to help get her up.[break][break]
to make matters worse, nyla has taken to laughing above them.[break][break]
she manages to wriggle one of her hands free and shove a treat in jojo's face. the dog nibbles at it excitedly and parker groans when crumbs follow after some of the crunches. one of them lands in her eye and she blinks rapidly, presses her hand even harder into the dog's snout. it confuses this with pets and flops down, forcing the air out of parker's lungs again, but the weight gets removed when it then rolls off of her and barks.[break][break]
she throws another treat towards corvus. then she gathers herself to her feet with as much dignity as she can and says, "okay. got the dogs. now let's take them back and get this godsdamned mission over with."

Corvus let out a laugh as the dog he’d been petting let out a small sneeze before continuing to crunch on his treats. He merely glances over at Parker, still playing with Jojo. “They’re cute. Or well…Jojo is usually cleaner, and he doesn’t get into trouble.” The witch explains as he snapped a leash on the younger dog before opening his arms to hug Jojo after the dog bounded over to him to get at the dog treats. The dog allowed this before he quickly snapped on a collar and attached a leash to him. Phillipe, eager to see what Nyla is laughing at, had flown down as well. He’s quick to interrupt the conversation, chiming in with, “Not to mention Jojo is one of his old charges. He’s more than relieved to have tracked him down again after losing him.” The bird stated.
[break][break
Corvus shoots a glare at his familiar, annoyed that he brought that up. “Jojo’s never been trouble. I assumed another pet shelter had found him and he’d eventually make his way back. Didn’t realize he was keeping a new friend company.” He protested patting both large dogs who, after treats, and petting seemed rather content to sit at Corvus feet, all the while sniffing his legs idly and panting. “Wait, Parker! Don’t you want to name the new one? You found them after all.” He asked, as he held the leashes normally. The dogs weren’t quite as rowdy as the other dogs. It wouldn’t be an issue transporting them back. As she moved past him the dogs spun around him and stood up ready for walkies. And a bath. He let Parker get a foot or two in front of them before ushering the two sheep dog forward. They began following happily.

[attr="class","pwfbody"] tracked him down after losing him. she stiffens, eyes hardening. her mind races as she puts all of this together. the flyer had mentioned that a lot of the dogs had escaped, but she'd glossed over the details. and she realizes just how much more ridiculous this mission had been, how much of a waste of time it was for her. because she'd volunteered to clean up the mess of someone from her very coven. to cover his misfortunes so the silvertongue face wouldn't look as bad as it already does.[break][break]
she's rendered speechless at this point and just shakes her head when corvus asks if she'd like to name the dog. a dozen thoughts come to mind, most of them foul, none of them having to do with naming the smelly creature beside her. she knows if she opens her mouth, it won't be pretty, and she's so close to finishing the mission. [break][break]
nyla thinks to her, cheer up. we're almost done here. she doesn't expect it, the gentleness to her familiar's voice, but she appreciates it. [break][break]
when they near the dog shelter again, she sighs in relief. "hopefully the next time we meet, we can do something more...useful." she sounds more wistful than she'd like, and looks away before corvus can see the disappointment that rests on her face.

Corvus chooses to gloss over is familiar’s words, murmuring words to his new and old friends as they pad after Parker. At a sudden scuttling to noise they simply look in that way and sniff the air or bark calmly a couple of times before moving along. He’s so proud of these dogs. They’re doing so well, Jojo taught the new dog right. He frowns as Parker decides she doesn’t want to name their new friend and pats the smaller sheep dog gently trying to come up with a name. “Alright then….I’ll name you Lory. That’s cute right?” he said, the dog eyeing him for a moment before barking up a response.
[break][break]
The rest of the walk is silent, as Parker leads the way back to the shelter. She seems, upset. He doesn’t blame her, but it’s a shame after how well they started off the mission. Or maybe…that was just Corvus’ impression. Either way, they were done at least. Parker doesn’t stop until they arrive and the little bell at the door tingles again. Someone greets them and he’s quick to return it before handing off the dogs. He looks back at Parker, staring at her for a moment before his eyebrows furrow together and he opens his mouth to speak before Philippe lands on his shoulder and begins preening. They share the briefest of looks before Corvus smiles at the redhead. “Of course! I’ve heard that the coven gets way busier during winter time, because of all the business transactions going on. We're sure to end up on the same mission again.” He holds out his hand, grinning at the redhead. “Thanks for your help. Let’s get skewers sometime since we couldn’t today.” He said, not pushing for the ginger to go now. She seemed…tired. “My treat.” He added with a small laugh.

[attr="class","pwfbody"] there's just something about all of this that stings. she knows that she gets like this, that one tinny thought in the back of her head can send her spiraling, can make her see red. and for the most part, she's kept herself positive this entire time--has dealt with her frustrations with a patience she has rarely known--and perhaps that's why now, why at the moment corvus attempts to be friendly with her, why when he reaches a hand forward, she snaps.[break][break]
she's reminded all at once of all their shortcomings today and her jaw clenches, fire dancing behind her eyes. she grows frustrated at his smile, at the ease in which he can shrug this embarrassment off. because that's what this mission was. that's what their performance was. an embarrassment. if any of their higher-ups had been monitoring their actions, she has no doubt that she could kiss her future in this coven goodbye.[break][break]
friendships are hard to come by in this world, her mother had told her. that most men will try to use her as a stepping stone, that most women will stab her in the back the first chance they get, that this world is rotten and the people are rotten and all she can put faith in is herself.[break][break]
her gaze hardens and she looks away after staring at his hand for far too long, legs trembling as anger (at him, she thinks, denying the self-infliction) rocks her core.[break][break]
"keep your report short and to the point," she says coldly, side-steps past him, and walks out the door.[break][break]
