The Birdies are a fairly new family, only having three generations to their history. It stars with Lenora's grandmother, Colette Addins. Colette was born as the youngest to a large family of two parents and eight children. Her parents were originally fairly well off, but the amount of children they had caused them to struggle financially quite a bit. Since little Colette was the youngest born, she was often met with hand-me-downs and half hearted bonding moments with her parents. Her siblings were left to raise her, which none of then particularly wanted to do. She was left to fend for herself as soon as she was able to, as her siblings preferred being children over parenting their little sister.[break][break]
The emotional distance this caused Colette to stray away from her family. She got into trouble often growing up, and started spending less and less time at home. While exploring and eavesdropping, she gained the nickname Birdie due to how agile she was. The name soon stuck and when Colette became old enough, she changed her name to Lenora Birdie to distance herself from the Addins as much as she could.[break][break]
Along with the name change, she found a change of heart. If she was representing a new family, she had to gain the respect of a well established one. Colette, now known as Lenora, worked hard to change her reputation around and eventually joined the Helios Knights. Shortly after she met her first genuine love interest named Adair. He was a well meaning but spoiled young man from a wealthy family, and found Lenora's story fascinating. The two quickly hit it off, and in marriage Adair took Lenora's last name. The second generation of the Birdie family was born shortly after that, to a pair of twins.[break][break]
The young couple decided to start a tradition: firstborn girls of the Birdie family would be named Lenora, and firstborn boys would be named Adair. All children after that would have a name that begins with M. The twins they parented began this tradition, and little Lenora and Adair kept their parents names.[break][break]
While the second generation Lenora grew up to be a feisty child, she fell ill in her early teens and never fully recovered. little Lenora became a shell of her former self, and passed away in her sleep at the young age of fifteen.[break][break]
Unlike his twin, the second generation Adair was active and healthy. Once his sister fell sick, he found more motivation to help take care of her and to do the family proud. He found a love in combat and strategic thinking, and later fell obsessed with the topic upon his sister's passing. History had the best strategy to study, and he fell further into his work as a tutor. While tutoring, he met Wynn, who was a woman his age tutoring in musical arts. They quickly became each other's foundation, and just in time.[break][break]
Shortly after Adair and Wynn got engaged, his parents passed away. His mother from heart issues, and his father from the emotional stress of losing his wife. Adair sought comfort and solace in Wynn, and the two were soon married. [break][break]
Two years after Wynn and Adair married, she gave birth to their first born child. Keeping the naming tradition of Adair's parents, the girl was named Lenora. Proud of his family, both by blood and by marriage, he swore that she would grow up to be a prodigy in every subject she touched. Wynn eagerly agreed, and soon the expectations of the child were quite intense.[break][break]
It was easy at first, though. Lenora started talking and walking a little quicker then others her age. This continued into her toddler years, with the small Lenora being just one step ahead of the average. Her parents were thrilled, and soon wanted to have a second prodigy to the family. When Lenora started school, her younger brother Adair was born.[break][break]
Between her average grades from school despite all the tutors and expectations, and baby Adair's "young genius," Lenora was soon left on the wayside. Her parents focus shifted to the more promising child, and Lenora became little more then a shadow to him.[break][break]
It didn't stop the tutors, thankfully for her. An elderly man who tutored her in math -- her worst subject -- became a grandfatherly figure. He comforted her when her parents wouldn't, an encouraged her when her parents didn't. He found comfort in her company, never having had kids despite always wanting them. And she found comfort in his care. They thrived with each other, and soon their tutor lessons were less and less about schoolwork and more about enjoying their unofficial family. Lenora soon started calling him Grandpa Thornton, which eventually shortened to Grandpa Thorn -- or just Grandpa, most of the time. Grandpa's support and words of wisdom helped heal the damage from the emotional neglect her parents caused. What was once an insecure and sorrowful girl was a humble and brave young woman. [break][break]
Despite the strain in her family, she decided to follow in the Lenora family tradition and join the Helios Knights. Hopefully she'd find more guidance among the people there. [break][break]

adding more insight
- Collects leafs, rocks, and other small trinkets. If it can fit in her pocket, she wants to collect it.
- Thinks studying is nothing but note taking and hope, not realizing the fact that that's basically what her experiments are.
- She's 5'0" and can barely handle a stool to reach the top shelf, so heights is a pretty strong fear of hers.
- Thinks places with few to no people isn't safe, and gets paranoid when in a place lacking people.
- Hates balloons because when they pop, they scare birds away.
