this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

There was an ulterior motive to today's experiment.
Grandpa had encouraged Lenora to try something: study at a public place, and see what happens. It sounds simple, yes, but it's not. "You see, if you look diligent enough, people who like the same things as you may approach you." Grandpa had said in a whispery voice, leaning in as if revealing the location of treasure, "So you're not studying to study today, no. You're studying to meet other brave people." Instantly she was sold on the idea.
She had grabbed her beginner's light magic textbook and her other study supplies, and immediately took to a nearby cafe. Despite the fact that she had read this book many times front to back, none of the information really seemed to stick for long once she closed the covers. Grandpa had hoped that with this study session being masked as an experiment, that this time would be different. Most young brains were like sponges, desperate for information. He was beginning to believe that she had misplaced her sponge, and needed help finding it again.
She had chosen a familiar cafe, not too far from the library. And after ordering a small coffee and a large blueberry muffin, she found a seat fairly close to the front of place and began reading her textbook from the beginning. Her notebook was open, pen was ready, and mind eager to see if this experiment would be a success.
OOC: I hope this starter is enough to work off of!
Admittedly, Ling really isn't the best at minding her own business.
It's one of her best qualities, but also her worst. See, it helps her approach people, and make friends! Ling has never been one to shy away from cheerfully wandering up to strangers and striking up a conversation - she knows some people struggle with social interactions, but she doesn't understand, and she knows that. But she's also been called nosy and annoying and a headache more time than she can count, and she's been making an effort to reign in her poorer habits. She's seventeen now, she should be more mature.
But... she's really not. That's the struggle now, the urge to stick her nose into other people's business. One specific person's business, actually - the girl sitting by the window at her favourite coffee shop. Ling had wandered in for her daily dose of caffeine, and the girl had immediately caught her eye. Anyone with a thick textbook and a notebook out would catch her eye, admittedly, but this girl with her pretty pale hair seems about the same age as Ling herself, and the urge to go talk to her has only increased with her realisation that her textbook was on magic.
She hesitates on approaching for a few more seconds, before admitting defeat to herself, and the inevitable conclusion she honestly always knew she would come to. Ling has never been that great at controlling her curiosity. "Hi there!" she greets cheerfully as soon as she gets her own coffee, wandering over with a smile as bright and open as the sun. "I couldn't help but notice that you're studying magic! That's so cool, can I ask what affinity or element?" She pauses only to take a breath, Valkea nudging her to remember to give the other girl a time to respond. She grins a little self-depreciatingly, cheer not even dented. "Sorry if this is super abrupt, I can get that way sometimes. I'm Ling, by the way! And this is my familiar, Valkea." She gestures at the fox by her side, who nods in greeting, a thousand times calmer than his witch.
