this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
[attr="class","dorado2"]the hour is early. enough so that the streets leading up to the coven halls are practically deserted, few witches lingering under the grand arches of the entrance. and fewer are at the training grounds - which is precisely why she has come at this hour. here, now, there is no one to see meifon relax, no one to judge her for her magical mishaps nor her fierce love for the sword. in the morn when the world is shaded in pinks and greys, meifon is a slash of brilliant crimson, a flash of silver steel.
léi has decided to manifest, curling himself around her neck like a torque of obsidian as she runs through her warmup exercises. slow breathing, in, out, in, out, paired with deliberate movements, katas written in grace as grass-script down a scroll; careful yet free. her body and muscles move easily at her command, so much unlike the wild nature of her magic. ah, she lives for this: this dance of swords, this choreography of physicality - this is what she fights to have.

The past few days were spent in a sick, foggy haze. In a moment of stubborn determination, Lenora had refused to bundle up enough for the weather. That small action quickly put her in bed, ill, for three days. Not only was it insanely boring, but it was also messing with her progress. She was still new to the coven, and she had barely even progressed as a witch. That's not living up to the Birdie family name at all!
Spending the last day and night sleeping off the last of her fever, Lenora snuck out as early in the day she could manage while still calling it daytime. The sun wasn't entirely up yet, but potay-to potah-to, right? As the petite figure wobbled her way with her duffel bag through the empty hall and into the training grounds, she recognized the movement of someone else already here. They had had the same thought as her. Come early so no one can see. Maybe they were getting over feeling sick, too?
Lenora pondered having a comrade in illness as she went to the nearest restrooms to change into a simple track suit. Pale gray with white accents and simple, Lenora emerged as ready for getting back on her feet as she could. Placing her duffel bag against one wall, she slowly approached her early morning training companion. "Good morning!" She said hesitantly, "It looks like we had the same idea." Her hesitation was from the energy they carried. Determination and, most importantly of all, experience was present in their movements. Lenora didn't have any of that, and she suddenly felt out of her depth.
[attr="class","dorado2"]she finishes her warm-up katas with the sensation of inner serenity, like a softly rising sun, or the mirror surface of a pond, crystal-calm. there is, for that single breath of time, an utter calm - no worry about family, freedom, life, love; no windstorm heart, nor thunder rising in her blood; no grand dreams or honour or star-written destiny to tear asunder. there is just meifon lin, and her body, and her sword.
and then the door opens, an unexpected sound so early in the day. she glances over to see a petite girl disappear into the restrooms with a large duffle bag slung over her shoulders. soon enough, the same girl emerges again, this time dressed appropriately for physical exercise.
eyeing the cornsilk hair, the pale skin, the wide blue eyes, meifon comes to the conclusion that she has never met this girl before, though she must also be a knight. it may be judging from appearances, but even she has a hard time imagining the other witch as a high-ranking one of their coven. she simply seems too... delicate - though, meifon is well aware, she herself also gives the same impression when wearing her own skin and not xinmei's.
"good morning!" she responds, offering a smile to her fellow knight. she may not know the girl, but everyone has to start somewhere, do they not? "looks like it! early morning training, before the grounds become too crowded, right?" several weeks in, and she still has not gotten used to the novelty of interacting with people without rank or title to get in the way - but it is a good thing, one that delights her every time. she holds out a hand, eyes bright. "please, call me mei. i'm pretty new to this coven, i don't believe we've met before."
