this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

'Seraph!' Percy calls out to his familiar gleefully. 'This is real! I'm watching Merede's Ouranois! I wish you can see it!'
Seraph, in the familiar world, hears Percy and croons happily for him. Percy just can't contain his excitement. He has been saving up pennies for just this show, and is quite happy he met his desired quota. Merede is a powerful theatrical illusionist known throughout Salem for her immense pool of mana, capable of maintaining an illusion for a huge span of time. Not only that, she is also famous for the creativity of her produced plays. Two of her major works reportedly had sold out its tickets for just a week.
Luckily for Percy, Ouranois is not one of Merede's anticipated plays. Sure, there are posters throughout Salem, but its advertisement is not overboard. Percy is quite happy to see a moderate queue for the tickets to the play. He quickly finds the end of the line and queues up.
It's a particularly lazy Sunday evening at Salem. The sun had set about an hour ago, so lights are flickering on one by one, giving Salem a pretty evening look. While houses and shops and cafes retire for rest, the Starshow glitters brightly throughout the night. The very look of it excites Percy. Wearing a gray long sleeves rolled to his elbows, faded jeans and leather boots, Percy thinks he's quite well-dressed for the evening.
But... yeah... Percy tiptoes and gauges the length of the queue. Even if the line is moderate to consider, still, it is a lot of people queuing up. Sooner than later Percy is tapping his foot, his brow furrowing. He has been waiting in line for about ten minutes and he is already bored. However he has the most perfect solution to that.
"Hmmmm," the Leviathan pretends to think deeply, but audibly loud enough for the person in front of him to hear. He has been observing the fair-haired guy for a while, and he does not seem to have any company. Might as well talk to kill time, right? "Merede sure is famous, huh. To think that even this play would get a lot of people queuing...!" he thinks out loud, subtly stepping a little closer to the guy, his face brooding an expression between amazed and exasperated. "How long have you been waiting here, if I may ask?"
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Okay so....Percy didn't really get what the big deal was about this stuff. Maybe he was just more preoccupied with the thought of going out and saving lives, but sitting down for a show didn't seem to be his forte. Gabriella on the other hand, wanted to see it as a bonding experience. She was a fan of the illusionist, Merede?, and come hell on high water she was going to see this show with her son. She'd secured the day off officially, grinned that bright charming smile at him that made him want a hug, and they'd set off.
That was like.....four hours ago. They'd spent a good deal of time just queuing in line with some other people, a decent amount actually. They'd sat and had their mother-son chats and Percy had recounted the last mission he'd gone on, and things...were good.
Then Gabriella got the message that there was an emergency and she was needed. Percy's face fell but Gabriella made him promise to stay for the show since he'd already wasted so much time, and he relented reluctantly. So he'd stayed, with a sigh hoping she'd return before the line moved much. That was only about half an hour ago and she still wasn't back. The line grew behind him and the guy behind him was clearly growing bored, but Percy was determined to brood.
Reluctantly, when addressed, he replied.
"Uh....four and a half hours.... I don't even want to see this show though honestly."

"Four hours? Seriously?" The Leviathan could barely believe those words. He takes one look at the line and sure enough, it's steadily moving. Patrons would spend about five minutes in the counter before being given the ticket. They're pretty close to the windows now, though, maybe because the show is about to start. Percy wonders idly about the available seats.
Eh, he thinks. So long as he can watch the play.
Percy tilts his head slightly to the side when he hears the following words of the boy. He knows that everybody have different interests. But he can't fathom why would the guy be here if he does not fancy the show.
"Eh, is that so?" Percy muses. "Then why would you be here? Tagging along with someone?" He deducted earlier that this guy is with no company, but now Percy might have to change that. It could be possible he was with someone, because he had been here for four hours and counting.
Percy dismisses the thought with an easy smile. "Whatever the reason, you've come so far. Probably best to just enjoy the play." Percy then proceeds into detailed analysis as to why the show could be enjoyable, even to those who does not want to see it in the first place. He tries his best to sound convincing. "Merede is an awesome playwright, you know? She's also the director, so everything on the stage is a product of her wild, creative imagination. Everything goes according to her plan.
And honestly, it's not just how the show is presented. It's the content that is worth watching. How it is conveyed is just a bonus, of course, a bonus that attracted most of her patrons today. Came for the illusion, stayed for the story. It's like that. So what I'm trying to say is, maybe you could enjoy it. Somehow."
As he talks, the line steadily moves, and now, they're just about six people away from the counter. "Today's show, I think, is about the forbidden love of the sky and the earth. It sounds interesting, doesn't it?"
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Percy has the audacity to pout a little bit honestly. Gabriella should be back any minute now, or he hopes so. He wants her there with him, but instead he's stuck alone in line with some chatty cathy. He feels bad the moment the thought crosses his mind, it wasn't this guy's fault Gabriella had work. He closes his eyes briefly, feels tired,
"My madre was here with me but....she had an emergency."
He admittedly was frowning pretty hard here, hands shoved in his pockets. His shoulders were drooping and he was pretty dejected. Honestly the guy's words go entirely over Percy's head, and they shuffle closer to the front of the line. The ticket booth lady is smiling, Percy can see that much, and he bounces on his toes as a sinking sensation settles in him.
He doesn't wanna go to this thing.
"Is she really all that good?"
He finds himself saying.
"Gabriella was a big fan but....I don't know I don't know if I trust it."
He admits slowly. He pulls out his wallet anyway, thumbs through the cash he has inside before eyeing one of the posters hanging up on the wall outside.

Percy's expression turns sad for a while, noticing that the guy isn't the least persuaded by his antiques. He understands, though. No one is captivated by words alone, unless it's a book, then that's a different story. The Leviathan decides to shut up while the guy pays his ticket. He follows shortly after, and after receiving the ticket, Percy smiles again.
"You'll just have to see it. Then you decide if it's worth four hours or not," Percy says, finally, after a minute of silence. "If you are alone, I'll tag along with you."
Percy knows, judging from the guy's reactions last time, is that he's beter of without someone possibly spilling spoilers or just downright plain annoying. He has both of those qualities, so he decides to leave him be for a moment. "I'll just..." he trails off, then pushed open the large doors and let himself in.
The next thing to do is to enter the theater. The ticket says it's a free-sitting arrangement, and Percy conveniently seats himself in the upper box, near the bottom. There are not many seats available, but just his luck, there are three empty seats in his place. The guy could sit here... his companion beside him, too. He does not know if the guy is following him or has decided to settle in a better place. Percy just hopes that he will see the beauty of the show, and appreciate Merede's effort to write and direct.
Percy makes himself comfortable on the retracting chair. He lays his upper back flat on the backrest, and his butt reaches the edge of the chair. Truly a look of utter bliss and comfort. The whole theater is still illuminated with lights dim enough for the stage to remain hidden in the shadows. There is the constant buzz of chatter as people excitedly talks about their expectations of the play. Percy eagerly listens to them.
Yet he cannot get the guy off his mind. What is he up to now? Did his companion arrive? Will he like the play?
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Honestly, the idea of having someone to sit and actually try to enjoy this with seemed....pretty nice. It was like having Gabriella with him only not Vagar in the slightest, and a boy. He bought his ticket and looked around, slightly lost, and decided to trail on his new companion like a lost puppy. It seemed the best course of action to him at the time, and so he found himself trailing idly behind the guy at a decent distance as to not seem weird.
He sat slowly next to the stranger and decided that if they were going to watch this show together, he might as well introduce himself. He cursed himself for not doing so earlier, for it was only polite, and put on his most blindingly charming smile.
"By the way, I do thank you for the invitation. I'm Perseus, but everyone calls me Percy."
He held out his hand, straightening his shoulders trying to keep up the chivalrous act.

Someone sits down next to him, and by instinct Percy adjusts his lax posture to a more formal one. He casts a sideway glance to the person, and he is delighted to see the guy from queue.
"We have the same name!" Percy exclaims, his voice an octave higher. He quickly corrected his volume to a more appropriate level fitting for the theater. Then he realizes he had made a slight mistake and goes on to correct it. "The same nickname, rather. My name is Percival, Percival Grayreme. Pleased to meet you." Percy extends his hand and shakes the other hand of the other Percy.
"Ah, this is awkward! Are you ok with both of us calling each other the same nickname? I wouldn't mind, but it can be hella confusing." He should not be so surprised. He knows, of course, that his name is not really unique. The forest of Percival is one solid proof. But still, this is the first name he met someone of the same monicker. For some reason Percy is delighted.
The dim light of the theater makes everything look solemn. It seems like Percy is the only cheerful one here. Even the other spectators are not really making much noise. He decides to give the other Percy a fair warning. "I guess we're stuck with each other. Just tell me if I'm blabbering too much during the whole affair."
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
He's a tad startled at the guy's outburst, twitching in his chair. He's confused for a moment, did this guy's parents also have a thing for stars and myths? before he's corrected in his thinking before he can even voice his concerns. Nickname then. Same nickname. It's cute, he thinks to himself with a slight grin, much like the guy in front of him, and he feels some sort of harsh tug in his chest. He's already after someone but Gabriella always told him to go where his heart would lead him, and he's wondering if maybe dating multiple people would be a bad thing.
"Pleased to meet you as well, and what a coincidence huh? Oh uh, I think it should be okay actually, kind of cute almost?"
He flushes pink at the admittance, but it's true. He chuckles at Percy's next statement though and shakes his head, slowly taking his hand back. He felt like this was almost a waste of his time without Gabriella anyway, so there wasn't much to be done about the state of his potential boredom.
"I have a feeling like I'll need a good distraction from my own thoughts, so for now we'll say your commentary is very welcome."
The lights dimmed further and Percy glanced around, assuming the show was starting. He sat back in his seat and squirmed until he was comfortable, eyes shining in the light. He was curious now, that was for sure.

Percy is glad at the guy's shift of mood. This is much easier to handle than the dejected guy he met at the counter earlier. But even if Perseus mood does not improve, Percy is sure to do everything he can just so the guy feels better.
"Yes, it is quite a coincidence," Percy agrees, settling in his seat. "But it's a coincidence I'm happy that took place. You... don't want to be here, do you? Maybe the reason we met is for someone to actually accompany you to this show."
It's too dim to actually make out Perseus' face, but Percy does note about his blond hair that stands out in the dark. And--oh, is that a blush? Percy can't be sure, and so he stares until his eyes adjusted. Then, realizing he's been staring at the guy's face for a minute now. Percy looks away, his cheeks reddening at the forced intimacy. Hopefully Perseus does not see that, for just a few tense heartbeats later the theater darkens.
"W-well!" he stutters. "The show is starting!"
The dark soon enough is replaced with luminescent crystal-ball sized orbs showing an array of scenes. An orb floats on the air, bobbing as they travel the whole theater. One orb flutters near the duo's seat, and like a child seeing his favorite toy in the store, Percy stares at the scenes unfolding on the orb. Then the curtain spreads, and the wall suddenly is illuminated with the same scenes playing on the orb.
"It's the creation," Percy breathes, realizing what the scene is depicting. Reminiscent of the Egyptian folklore, the scene of creation is played, focusing to two entities, Nut, the goddess of the sky and Geb, the god of earth. A gentle voice-over would then accompany the scene, and with each god and goddess introduced, a certain orb would burst into the very entity, moving with repeated movement in the air.
"Percy, look," the Leviathan whispers. It feels kind of endearing, having to call your companion your nickname. Percy points to several balconies at the sides. If one's eyes had adjusted, he could see a large number of witches working together to form the illusions. "The illusionists and their crafts... they're amazing."
As expected of Merede. The introduction is marvelous.
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Percy honestly feels bad for not wanting to be here, because this guy is super excited about it clearly. But he can't help it, it's just not his thing, but he's thinking maybe his mind will be changed. He's hoping so at least, maybe.
"Yeah, maybe. My madre had business to attend to, an emergency to deal with so like...yeah."
Then there's a minor staring contest where Percy is watching the other Percy from under his lashes, and sees the blush that accompanies his own. He clears his throat and faces forward comfortably, his palms sweating for what he considers no good reason.
He watches though, with baited breath for the spectacle that surely happens with sudden certainty. It's..pretty that's for sure. But it's certainly not..heroic? It's mythological, and something that Gabriella would love. But something about it just isn't captivating Percy and he's struck as he feels bad. He watches anyway though, and feels instead more caught by the emotion in Percy's voice than anything.
He can only offer one word though, and it sounds so lame when he says it, even to his own ears.

Percy laughs as silently as he could with the other man's forced compliment. "It's okay, you don't have to like it," the Leviathan says easily. "Let's just focus less on the narrative more on the technical part of the play."
The story continues to unfold. By this time all the Gods are already in place. A conflict has already been established, and dialogues are already in play. Now there are actual people on stage with their extravagant ancient Egyptian clothes. One particular scene had Ra exploding into fits of anger, growing in form. From the audience's point of view, the actor became mammoth in size, almost as high as the stage itself.
Percy watches in awe, eyes shining, cheeks flushed, totally caught in the act. It's kind of funny to watch, really. Two males, sitting beside each other, one watching the play with such intensity and the other just lounging in there, uncomfortable in his seat.
Hoping to catch Percy's attention, the brown-haired male pats the armrest beside him, and when he feels the warmth of the other he gently grabs and shakes his arm for a moment. He looks at him, then to his hazel eyes, and points again at the cloaked illusionists by the side. "Don't you think it's a bummer? These people are manipulating mana just for entertainment. You can see that these people holds great power, particularly those in charge with larger illusions."
The Leviathan turns his gaze back at the stage again, but this time he does not register anything. He sees colors, but it's blurred, mixed. He hears sounds, but it's a cacophony.
"While I certainly like these kinds of play, I do think the illusionists in this field are all wasting their potential."
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Percy relaxed a bit when the other laughed. It was nice to know he didn't really have to sit here and force anything. He was worried this guy was some sort of like, rabid type of fan and he'd never hear the end of it. He settled in his seat and tried to focus on the play, eyes flickering between the illusions.
Okay, so this was lowkey pretty impressive actually.
But he wan't really focusing on that so much as the guy next to him, who was so...enraptured? Was that a good word to use? His lips quirked into a smile and he could admit his stomach was doing some..pretty weird things right now.
Percival grabbed his arm and he felt his stomach seize, and he flushed red at the contact. Maybe he was too much of a romantic but this was nice, even if they'd just met. Kind of dramatic right? He listened though, and mulled over the thoughts swirling around in his brain.
"Well....if this is what they want to do then no? It's their choice, this is how they wish to perceive themselves in the world. As great entertainers, and how boring would the world be without them? I can....see the appeal I guess, of this all."

Percy mulls over the other's words. That is... putting a new perspective into place. Before, all Percy thinks about is strength and ranks and power. To him, if you have potential you should use it to, what? Gain popularity and fame? Realizing he has just thought of that, and the fact that it is true, had Percy's stomach twisting in embarrassment. He is suddenly sweating despite the air conditioned room, and he tries to wipe the beads off his face with his handkerchief discreetly.
Percy sighs. Perseus is right. There is more than to life than ranks and power. There is also the arts, there is also the goodwill, there are many more things.
"You're right," Percy says, relatively calm now. He glances at the man beside him and gives him a smile of gratitude. "I may just be art-illiterate, I even thought of them as people wasting their potential." He thinks of Merede, and how powerful she is. Even if she is a theatrical illusionist, she is famous. Percy should bear that in his mind.
"You're more worthy to be called her fan, in the parallel universe. You understand her craft and I don't. I should be ashamed." By this time, Percy's attention to the play is halved. Instead, he now keeps stealing glances at the man beside him. Percy almost wishes he has illumination scroll this moment so he can see Perseus' face clearly. It bums him out. He seriously considers taking a bathroom break and dragging Perseus with him just so he could see him clearly.
He is an interesting guy. That much Percy can see, or feel, for that matter.
Sometimes it's hard to learn from all your mistakes
Perseus thinks this poor guy is taking things too seriously. He smiles a bit awkwardly because he doesn't miss the way he starts to sweat, the minor panic he seems to feel. He smiles though, turns toward his new companion and ignores the rest of the show entirely. While he knows this is rude this isn't even a show he was interested in the first place, and the alternative view in his opinion is much better.
"Don't be so down on yourself? Seriously it's not a big deal, just one misconception shouldn't rock your whole world."
His cheeks glowed seeing that Percy keeps glancing at him.
"You just think in a different way is all, there's nothing wrong with that."
He twiddles his thumbs and ducks his head down, face practically glowing. He turns back to the show and settles in his seat, wanting to rest his feet on the chair in front of him. He doesn't though, because that's rude. No need to be rude when you paid good money to be at such a....nice? show.

Sometimes, Percy wonders. With Perseus' words, he is now one of the countless people who had comforted Percy, one of the persons who had changed his views and ideals in life. By now he is somehow a different person. He left home with the sole intent of rising through the ranks. Now, in the process, he lost his touch.
He still would want to be recognized. It used to be his horizon, now it has expanded.
"Thanks," he says sheepishly. "Yeah, I take things too seriously. I should lighten up."
By this time the play is already halfway through. Since Percy already knows the story, he is not really watching it anymore. He's now more interested in the companion he managed to have for this evening.
"You know a good way to lighten up?" Percy says, standing up. "Snacks! We can never go wrong with food. Oh, restroom first. The cold is getting to me." He does not say it explicitly, but he does hope Perseus would take the cue: come with me. He gestures towards the exit, then goes first. That's where the restrooms are. It also leads to a series of stalls with variety of food perfect for a date.
Wait, a date?
Percy blushes at the thought. Hopefully Perseus would see it as something from the sudden change of temperature. He is out of the theater and he looks back to see if Perseus is right behind him. If Percy would see him he would continue to the restroom and face the mirror. He combs his hair and tries to put the fluff back.
"Ah, it isn't as messy as I thought it would be..."
