this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

Dark eyes peek around the corner of a building, seeking the stillness of a place overlooked. No one is there. (If life were a movie, this would be the cue for a single tumbleweed to drift past.) Snickering, Ling sneaks to the front door and scrawls a pair of linked runes on the doorstep. Some mana, a flash, and a moment later, a transparent barrier shimmers into place, just enough to block the entrance of the door. It's one of the many temporary barriers Ling has created today, all placed in areas where people are sure to want to access, only lasting for a single collision with a person but hopefully causing chaos all the same.
Ah, the joys of the Joker's Jamboree.
...but she kind of wants to see the chaos in action too.
Which was the train of thought that lead her to the main streets, strolling along as she casually drops pre-written barrier tags behind her and doing her best to suppress her giggles as the sounds of frustrated cursing and surprised exclamations reach her ears. Valkea slips by her feet, a barrier tag in his mouth as he darts on ahead and searches for a good place to cause maximum chaos.

[attr="class","jartoxpost"] The streets were not very crowded at this time of year. Maybe it was the people trying to avoid getting pranked as seemed to be the case thanks to the so called 'jester' guild. He personally didn't mind it. Some were creative in how they got people. Others... well... scraping the bottom of the barrel had to happen for the newbies sometimes. Not everyone was as creative as others. Besides some old classics had to be done. It was like the natural way of the world. [break][break] Naturally going down the main street he assumed he was safe...r than like a back alley. He was not correct. There was a little creature that dropped something and shot passed him. It only took a second of him looking back to see what was going on before it was to late. Boom he felt himself hit something and his body fell backwards onto the ground. He wasn't going very fast so most of the hurting came from his butt hitting the ground. "Ow." [break][break] His dog was right behind him initially but moved ahead of him when he hit the ground. What had he hit? There wasn't anything in front of him. At least not anymore? His familiar was standing a little bit in front of where he had smacked into something so whatever it was either vanished or something magic was afoot. TIme to be all scooby doo up in this biz-snitch. Only way less cool and a dog that can't talk.
Deciding to take a short break from causing chaos (the multiple bursts of cursing directed her way may have influenced her decision), Ling slips into the shadows and out of sight, instead deciding to watch as Valkea darts along the street searching for the right person to prank. He is a whole lot more inconspicuous than her even with his white fur, after all - he's a lot smaller, for one, and not dressed in bright red - and he can dematerialise at will.
So that's how Ling finds herself watching with baited breath as Valkea locks onto a witch and familiar duo - a guy around her age with brown hair and his dog familiar (a saint bernard?) - and approaches, staying low as he creeps up on them, then streaking past with the wind twining his steps as he drops a tag and races on ahead. It works brilliantly, the guy colliding with the barrier immediately and falling down, the temporary barrier vanishing with a slight blue shimmer.
"Go Val!" she whisper shouts as her familiar darts back to her side, a wide grin on her face. "That was perfect!" Valkea huffs as if to say 'of course' but his tail curls in tell-tale satisfaction.
Mischief glitters in both their eyes. "C'mon, let's go prank more people." Sorry for the wait! I had exams OTL. btw, even though there's no way we'll finish this thread in time (sorry), do you mind if we continue this even after the event ends?

[attr="class","jartoxpost"] The canine familiar was on it unfortunately. Thank you dog senses because Charani probably wouldn't have any idea what was going on. The dog was watching the little thing scurry along before it vanished behind a wall. The little thing vanished from sight at that point. [break][break] The young man got his butt up off the ground, still feeling a little sore as he stood up. That feeling would probably go away in a few hours since he had hit the ground... which was hard cement. It wouldn't leave any lasting damage of course as I'm guessing is the intent with all these pranks.. harm none only fun. Like a weird screwed up jokester version of the hippocratic oath. [break][break] Teddy barked at his master and put his nose to the ground, sniffing along as he walked in the direction of where the creature had vanished. He was no doubt trying to pick up a scent from where he knew the creature was last. He had to eat the thing of course for its pride to be restored. It had made a fool on his master which was almost as worse as when a boy got near him to try to steal Charani from him. The thing must be destroyed. Of course Charani just followed along with the pup... not really understanding what was going on in his head. "You find something buddy?" he hummed as he followed along with the dog. He hadn't connected what he was trying to do yet.
Neither Ling nor Valkea stick around long enough to watch Charani get up, converse with his familiar, and start following their trail. It's not really their policy to watch beyond the immediate aftereffect of the pranks after all - it's enough to know that it worked, and that no one was hurt. Perhaps Valkea would have had the situation been a fight or somewhere dangerous, however in the safety of Sundial's streets with the golden excitement of Joker's Jamboree glittering in their veins, he doesn't look back as he accepts another barrier tag from Ling and darts off into the crowd in search of another victim.
Ling, meanwhile, follows at a more sedentary pace - an odd reversal of roles - more scraps of paper fluttering in her grasp as she scribbles the barrier array that has become all but instinctive over the course of the day. 'Hey Val,' she nudges their mental bond as an idea begins to take shape in her mind. 'Do you think I could modify the tags to make them last longer than the initial collision? Might be fun to create a few invisible walls. Make everyone a little more confused.'
Her familiar responds with the equivalent of a mental shrug, though the thought is tinged with excitement and interest. Neither of them can resist a good challenge like this - runes, a theory, and pranks, what an awesome combination! - and so it is practically a foregone conclusion that Ling finds herself moving back into a quieter area as she sketches out experimental arrays.
Thus distracted, she doesn't notice her prank victims from earlier get closer and closer...sorry for the wait!
