this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Helios Knights weren't ones for taking on direct requests. However, Valencia didn't mind when the request came from someone that she knew. Elih had been a trusted friend of hers since she was a little girl and because of that, meeting him in downtown Sundial wasn't a question of 'why' but 'when'. However, she hadn't the time to change out of her uniform and stuck out like a sore thumb among the crowds of people milling about. It did well to keep leering eyes away but the whispering was something that she couldn't stop from happening.
She pulled her hair out of its ponytail and mused it as best as she could without a mirror. It fell over her shoulders as per usual and while she fiddled with the locks determined to cover one of her eyes, she noticed a figure quickly moving from the corner of her eye. That was odd. She'd been noticing the same thing happening when she was in the Helios Knights Hall. Someone approaching her and then quickly hiding themselves. For the most part, she didn't question it but if she had acquired a stalker out of nowhere, it would've been best to address it quickly.
Before she could approach the general direction of the disappearing person, she noticed a familiar face. Straightening up, Valencia crossed her arms over her chest.
"Elih," she said. "Did you bring a friend?"
She turned her head in the direction of the person who may or may not have been hiding close to them. Hopefully she was right and they were an acquaintance of his. If not, this outing may turn into a business venture.
social gatherings hold a special place in elih's heart -- the part that insists he is far better off taking a nap at home, or helping out at the sun cafe, or even rereading that tattered, dog-eared classic for the umpteenth time. but the fact that he is meeting an old friend, a trusted acquaintance, eases the pain somewhat. the small part relents, lets him think that maybe a casual get-together with a friend wouldn't be so bad. somewhat reassured, he makes his way to downtown sundial, skirting crowds and hugging the corners in that typical way of his.
it is not difficult to locate valencia. mussed hair or no, her uniform stands out in stark contrast to the rest of the crowd, proud and unrelenting as the knights themselves. elih himself looks more at home -- appearance-wise, casually dressed -- if not for the mild discomfort that resurfaces every time he has to sidestep out of the way. time and time again, it is smoothed over with a look of practised calm and indifference; just another sundial citizen with no remarkable business whatsoever.
( frankly, it isn't far from the truth. )
valencia seems focused on something else by the time elih reaches her. the question asked is met with a blank, clueless expression. his brows draw together slightly in worry. "uh, n-no?" hesitance notwithstanding, his answer is as sincere as it gets. he cranes his neck to look in whatever direction she had been moving in originally. he blinks, wonders if she's seeing things or he's just got terrible eyesight, and ventures curiously, "why do you ask?"
have i always loved you? have i always known? / have i always loved you alone?

Valencia was freaking cool.[break][break]
And Ashanti was used to the members of the helios knights ignoring or just walking past her without the customary good morning. But she remembered interacting with Valencia-- despite being so self-assured and forthright, the redhead had not once looked down on her, remaining humble yet stern. It was inspiring, in some ways.[break][break]
Except she was certain that the redhead had forgotten all about her. [break][break]
But she'd been stalking following Valencia around and attempting to figure out when was a good time to talk to her. Polaris sighed in the depths of her mind, telling her she was being dumb. Asha simply told him that she'd taken his message of getting stronger to heart.[break][break]
Valencia seemed to look her her direction, and Asha slipped behind the wall again. When she risked another peek at her senpai, she caught a familiar dark-haired male chatting with her casually. Elih? An acquaintance??[break][break]
Oh, that was her, wasn't it?[break][break]
She wanted to bail, but the curiosity got the better of her. She breathed and rolled her shoulders, slipping from the corner of the building to a calm strut towards the two.[break][break]
"Elih! I didn't think I'd see you here!" she shouted, before gasping in a horrifying fake voice. "W-wait, you two know eachother?"[break][break]
Emotional manipulation with sad faces and guilt tripping, the kind that involved a strictly regulated level of toxicity, she could do. But when it came to being on the spot like this, Asha really couldn't do much.

The feeling that someone was watching her hadn't faded even after Elih confirmed that he hadn't brought anyone along on their outing. Some may call it paranoia but Valencia took pride in being aware of her surroundings and as she tore her gaze away from where the disappearing figure had appeared, the feeling hadn't faded. Instead, she observed Elih for a moment and took in the clothes that he'd been wearing. It seemed like she would be the only one out of place this evening and although it would be a hassle, at least it was with someone else who knew her well.
That is until she heard someone call out his name.
Valencia's head turned ever so slightly to eye the young woman approaching them. She seemed rather familiar but Valencia couldn't put a name to the face or a moment in which they'd met. While the newcomer spoke to Elih, the gears in Valencia's head were turning as she tried to recall. There had been quite a few occurrences where she would feel as if someone's eyes were on her. It wasn't unnerving as most stalkerish situations would have been, but it was a little annoying.
If they had something to say then it would've been easier to just come right out with it.
Not everyone has the capacity to speak their mind like you do.
A fact of life that she was having to come to terms with everyday while working with her colleagues and those with a demure nature. Nonetheless, she tuned back into the conversation once the question arose of how she knew Elih, her suspicions were put aside. It warmed her heart to know that he was making friends and had connections.
"My name is Valencia Godfrey," she said. "And you?"
Arion huffed and muttered to Valencia, a statement to which she put aside as she looked to their newfound companion. Perhaps she'd found what she was looking for after all.
