Matteo Garcia I'm sorry it's kinda short I tried ;^;
How fortunate for Tony that Matteo had nothing better to do today than to hang around with him. After clearing up the table, the two of them headed towards the marketplace, where Matteo's shop was situated at. The other man led the way while Tony followed alongside him. As they walked through the streets, he began looking around, taking note of where they were headed so he'd know how to get to Matteo's shop without needing a guide.
Their conversation from back at the cafe continued as they spoke of random things, getting to know each other through the smallest, seemingly trivial questions. Tony revealed that he was a water illusionist, and introduced his familiar Loki, who gave a brief nod before silently curling back around Tony's neck to drowse off.
Matteo was easy to get along with, and Tony liked how he didn't laugh at his dream and told him it would be impossible for someone like himself. While he had always been pretty thick-skinned and just laughed it all off, discouragements still wore him down line any other person, the way one would keep battering at a wall until it collapsed.
As they approached the marketplace, Tony stuck his hands in his pockets and spoke again. "So Matty, tell me. You've mentioned tinkering, but have you invented anything before? Or maybe built something from scratch?"

Tony's good company, and Matteo knows to appreciate a genuine person when he sees one. Especially after all those years in hardship and constant self-depreciation. He's glad to have met someone who seems genuinely interested in his magical technology, and he's more than happy to show him. [break][break] Their conversation is littered with questions ranging from ages to favorite things, and Matteo thoroughly enjoys it. When Tony revealed his affinity, element and familiar, Matteo faltered - his affinity couldn't rightly be called an affinity if he couldn't perform it. He doesn't explain, instead stating his element of fire and showing off Bandersnatch, who gave Tony a lazy nod before snoring once more and disappearing in a puff of smoke.[break][break] He's caught slightly off guard when Tony calls him Matty, but he doesn't mind the nickname. He's been called it before, and frankly, it's better than his mother's use of Matt-Matt. Tony's question brings a mischievous smile to his lips, and he wiggles his brows. "I'm glad you asked!" he said, his tone being one where most others would glance at each other and say 'oh no'. Reaching into his pocket, Matteo digs out a notebook and quickly flips open the first few pages. "I invent quite a bit, and though there aren't all that many that I've distributed around. Here," he says, pointing to the first and handing the book to Tony so he can see better. "This one's a confetti bomb. You chuck it anywhere and it'll spew confetti. Great for parties - or distractions," he adds the last part with a conspiratorial wink before he glances up. They've come to the spot where his shop is - the fountain is facing opposite, and he runs up to the door to unlock it.[break][break] He glances around the place, quickly running his hand across the light switches before he allows Tony to step inside. Matteo frowns as he notices the mess, but shakes away the thought with a quick "Sorry about the mess." He swipes up a spare scrap of paper and puts it on his desk before he begins rummaging through the desk drawers. "Here, I've got a confetti bomb here - be careful, it's my back-up one, so it's a little more ... sensitive than the others I've made." He hands Tony the spherical, multi-color object, placing it carefully in his palm before Matteo continues going around his workshop.[break][break] He brings out a Litesaber (a contraption which is basically a very big glowstick), a flashbang ("be careful!" he warns), and several more trinkets before he finally takes a break from the manic excitement and allows Tony pause. Matteo blinks, his ears reddening sheepishly as he realizes he's bombarded the male with quite a lot of things, all piled on his desk. However, there's one more spot Matteo wants to show him, and after a small hesitation, he poses his question.[break][break] "Would you like to see the forge?" he asks.
Bouncing with energy, Tony leaned over as Matteo took out a notebook and began showing him a few pages of designs and sketches. His confirmation that he did some inventing made Tony whistle in admiration. As he handed the book over, Tony took it in his hands - careful not to fold or crease the paper - to see a nice image of something round. None of the numbers and calculations really caught his eye, but the shape and a drawing of what it could do helped him understand what it was. The explanation further confirmed his thoughts on it.
"Stars and Stones, that sounds perfect." Tony turned sharply in Matteo's direction as he spoke, a twinkle in his eye. There were plenty of ways he could think of to utilize the bomb, whether it was for pranks or for missions. Already he had high hopes for Matteo's inventions and what he could make in the future.
He returned the book to Matteo just as they arrived near the fountain. Together they made their way to a door, Matteo unlocking it before stepping in first.
With all the gadgets and papers and tools and items scattered about, Tony had to step around cautiously as he waded in through Matteo's mess. In slow movements he approached Matteo at his desk. The tinkerer held out something round towards him as he got closer.
There was no question that Tony would accept the item and began looking it over. He lifted it up as he turned it around, completely unconcerned by the other's warning. "So any kind of shock would make it explode right?"
The next item Matteo shows him is a giant glowing stick, followed by a flashbang. Each item that was revealed made Tony only grow more and more excited as he asked questions about how they worked. All of these things were so interesting, and he found himself overwhelmed by how many Matteo showed him. He wanted to examine each one closely first!
Alas, Matteo started inviting him over to something called the forge and, like a child who was constantly distracted by all the nice things everywhere, he nodded. "Sure! Let's go! Let's go!!"

[attr="class","jarburnbbrp"]
What could he say? This is probably the giddiest he's been in a while. He's happy and excited, and a happy, excited Matteo gets distracted easily, fingers fumbling just about everywhere, whether they're tapping on a desk or making something out of the scraps in his toolbelt.[break][break] He does, however, notice Tony raise the confetti bomb in the air, and though he knows it's unlikely to cause too much damage, he still has no desire to sweep up the confetti. Hurriedly, he makes a grab for it, in hopes of taking it from Tony's grasp and, if he succeeded, slipping it back in his drawer.[break][break] He's glad for the distraction to the forge - but now, he's keeping a closer watch on the blonde. He doesn't want anything to go wrong, and Tony's already shown that he may - teasing or not - set things off.[break][break] The forge isn't only a forge - it's really the place where Matteo tends to do his inventing, or his bigger projects that don't mean quick tune-ups to wristwatches or wind-up toys. Though, admittedly, he's not received very many things that could warrant an actual forge, and so the hot coals are usually meant for his own use. Right now, the forge is stone cold, sitting towards the back end of the room. There's two large wooden desks set in the middle of the room, taking up the majority of the space that's meant for walking as the room itself isn't too big. One desk is covered with papers, bits of scrap metal, wires, and an array of different tools. The other desk is noticeably cleaner, holding an incomplete litesaber, a blue print, and a screwdriver.[break][break] The shelves line nearly every wall of the room. One holds various notebooks, parchment, and schematics. The rest seem to hold any manner of tools and materials one would find in a workshop. There's a bucket or two on the floor that seem to hold rods of metal and other broken contraptions that Matteo doesn't have the heart to toss away completely.[break][break] There's not much to the room to introduce, and Matteo's only intention here is to show Tony what it looks like. He doesn't say it, but Tony's the first person to visit this section in a very, very long time. All in all, Matteo gives a very simple introduction of: "Welcome to the forge," before he watches to see what Tony's reaction will be.
It didn't take long for Matteo to grab the confetti bomb from Tony's hands. He pouted at first, but with so many other interesting gadgets to see and learn about, the bomb was soon out of his mind. Not like he actually wanted to make it explode. But he hoped he could eventually be introduced to some kind of gadget that he can use and actually try out for a bit. The glowing stick looked promising, but Matteo was already heading towards the area he called his forge.
The place looked even messier and cluttered than the first half of the room. What truly caught Tony's attention though, was the actual forge itself. He had seen forges before, back in Hireling's Keep, but never this close. Blacksmiths and other craftsmen kept their tools safe and protected, never letting any random person just come in to mess around with their tools.
With bright, wide eyes of curiosity, he approached the currently cold forge and let his fingers run down its side in a reverent manner. From his brief interactions with Matteo, he knew that the other wasn't so well-off that he could simply buy a forge whenever he felt like it. Tony could imagine the amount of effort put into getting one for himself to set up in his workshop, and knew the true value of such an item for someone like Matteo.
"It's beautiful..."
As quickly as it came, the moment was gone, and Tony swiveled around to face Matteo with excited eyes this time. "Have you made anything using this forge? Daggers? Sword? Axes? Can I help you make one? I wanna try using the forge!"
I couldn't get enough, so I had to self destruct, The heat was on, rising to the top Everybody's goin' strong That is when my spark got hot I heard somebody say Burn baby burn! Disco inferno!
[attr="class","jarburnbbrp"]
Matteo watches as Tony trails his fingers over the cold forge with an awed reverence. He can't deny the rush of delight he feels when the male says that it's beautiful. The forge is probably the most expensive thing in his shop. It's his pride and joy, and even though it's basically made from all the best scraps he could find. Concrete, bricks, metal - it's all gone into the work on his forge, and it's one that took him over a month to complete.[break][break] Tony whirls around, light in his eyes as he barrages Matteo with questions. The witch can't keep up, though he tries his best to answer Tony's question by interrupting his deluge. "I've made some other metal parts, haven't made weapons, and I can make you one but - um, the forge is dangerous. It's not for amateurs..." He doesn't want to burst Tony's bubble, but he also doesn't want Tony to get hurt. And though he's sure that Tony can control himself, that earlier incident is convincing him otherwise. "It's red hot coals and metal, and you don't want to get burned."[break][break] Even when Matteo uses the forge, it's really for bending the scraps he's found and to weld them together. He's never made something like a sword nor axe - he's attempted a dagger, but that was such a failure that he'd given up. Even now, he can see the dented, jagged lump of metal that forms its blade, stuck in one of the buckets.[break][break] In hopes of not disappointing him and in giving him an alternative, Matteo runs back out to the storefront, grabs a trinket, and runs back. "Better than a sword, here's a litesaber!" Quite honestly, though, the litesaber is a complete failure - it's meant to be more than a glorified plastic glowstick. But that's what it is, and though it's good for parties and fake sword fights, it's not good at much else. For demonstration, he swishes it through the air, being careful not to hit anything around him. He does not, however, hand the glowstick to Tony. "Good for parties, fake sword fights, and night games."
His initial enthusiasm over the forge was subdued by Matteo's warnings. As exciting as being able to heat up metal and bend it to whatever shape he wanted was, he didn't want to get hurt or accidentally burn the whole place down. If Matteo believed that it wouldn't be a good idea to use the forge, then he would be better off taking his word for it.
"Yeah I understand..." He did, but he still wished he could try it out. It felt like this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance that would never come again. Meeting someone who had an actual forge was rare, and he had hoped the other could have shown him how it worked. With a pout on his face, he lightly scuffed the ground he was standing on with one foot.
While mourning the loss, Matteo disappeared and came back with the stick that Tony saw earlier. He smiled as he took it from the other and began swinging it around like a blade. "Not much of a saber really, but I bet you could do a lot with a bit of improvement. Like maybe having it actually cut something?" As he made the suggestion, he grinned mischievously. "Or you could even make smaller versions of it - wands or staffs - that can amplify or direct magic spells."
The more he looked at the glowing stick and swung it around, the more he imagined his siblings' excitement and awe. They would be the ones running around playing pretend fighting with these litesabers "Say Matty, how much would this cost? I'm thinking of buying any that you have, if they're for sale."
Depending on the price, he would buy as many as he could afford. Those kids didn't get much toys, considering their lifestyle, so even something like this would be a big treat for them.

[attr="class","jarburnbbrp"]
Matteo feels the tips of his ears redden as Tony suggests that the saber could actually do more than be a plastic glowstick. Of course, his original plan had been for it to be a little more ... astonishing ... but he'd forgotten a key part when he was making it and so it had become a Litesaber^TM or otherwise known as a lightstick. For not much good save for lighting up parties or glowing green. [break][break] "Getting it to cut something will be the dream," he says. "It's gonna need some high-end enchantment from a light user, so until I can find myself one, it'll have to remain a glorified glowstick."[break][break] "As to smaller versions - that's honestly not a bad idea." Matteo claps Tony on the back in a sort of 'congrats' moment. "I might actually make something like that..." Already, the gears in his head are turning, forming a way to create something similar that could act as a wand or staff. He's no wandmaker, but if he can combine tech and magic to that degree...[break][break] He shakes his head quickly. "Um, the Litesaber costs a couple notes. Well, more like five notes, really, but I'll give you a discount." Quite honestly, he's been selling them to get rid of them as they've been largely useless. He's probably got about three left, and he says so as an afterthought. "I've three left in stock."[break][break] He's fine with giving a discount, though he wishes he had the means to simply give them to Tony for free. However, he needs his own income, and he's already cut down the price so...hopefully this is enough, he thinks.
"You'll make it one day," Tony said confidently. "Until then, this isn't so bad."
He grunted and jerked forward when Matteo slapped his back, then grinned and placed his hands on his hips, chest puffing out as Matteo's words sunk in. "Glad to be of help. Just remember me when you start selling it to people all right?" It had been his idea after all. Matteo said it himself. Maybe he could get a bit of the profit for being instrumental in its creation or something. If it suddenly exploded in popularity, he would be a rich man. "You can always talk to me for great ideas like that! I've got lots of them." Eventually Matteo would create something that Tony could surely use for his missions. Until then, he'd support the other as much as he could, such as buying some of his other inventions.
Which was how he came to decide to buy any litesaber that Matteo had. When Matteo mentioned that he had three and that he was going to sell them with a discount, Tony's eyes lit up brightly. This was why befriending the right people always came in handy. And it wasn't like he was going to abuse the other's kindness. He was still going to support him in his business sincerely.
"Really? That's great! I'll take all three then." For less than five notes - after the discount that is - it was not a bad sale. At least they would be put to good use. In the hands of imaginative children who would enjoy playing with it.
"So how much in total would that be?" He reached for his wallet as he asked.

[attr="class","jarburnbbrp"]
Matteo's glad for Tony's encouragement - lately, he'd been feeling as if he'd been stuck in a rut, with no way to move forward or back. Every day was pretty mundane - which was probably why he'd taken to making such strange devices with apparently no feasable purpose other than pranks and strange feats.[break][break] But he was glad those toys were being appreciated. He loved all his creations - unless they broke, of course. But he'd worked on them with care, and they were basically his children.[break][break] "Of course," he says in reply to Tony's remark. He grins widely as he sees the other puff with pride and remarks that he's got many more colorful ideas in his head. "I'll take you up on that offer sometime."[break][break] As to selling those Litesabers... "3 copper coins each," he says after a quick debate. Original price was going to be 5 copper coins, but seeing as he was going to take 3, the discount as such would be 6 copper coins. Matteo considers that pretty good.
Tony rummaged around in his pants for his wallet, then proceeded to take out the amount he needed to pay Matteo. A six copper discount for the three swords was more than good enough for him. And at least he knew that these toys would be put to good use. They wouldn't be sitting in some shelf, collecting dust. If his siblings were prone to breaking things when the roughhousing got a bit too rough, well that was another thing entirely.
Maybe he'd invite Matteo along with him one of these days, and have him witness his inventions being enjoyed by kids. He knew how much any hint of appreciation or joy over something that was made with a person's blood, sweat and tears could give anyone the kind of motivation they needed to keep doing what they loved.
"There you go." After paying the other, he held up the one sword that Matteo gave him so far. The other two would no doubt follow soon after once Matteo retrieved them from wherever he had stashed them. "Do they come in different colors? It's not important, but it would be so cool if they do." He wondered if Matteo could change them for him now, and if it would have to be done for a price.
Regardless, he would take them without any further complaints. "So, you've got any other surprises up your sleeve? Any secret inventions you're hiding for a grand finale?" At this rate, he might just end up buying all the interesting things in the shop.
I couldn't get enough, so I had to self destruct, The heat was on, rising to the top Everybody's goin' strong That is when my spark got hot I heard somebody say Burn baby burn! Disco inferno!

The clink of coins in his hand is a satisfying sound, and as soon as he's made sure the right amount is there, he slips it into his toolbelt. The coins are going to float around in its enchanted space until he grabs them back, but for now, he'll just stash them in his magic toolbelt.[break][break] Now he has to grab those other two swords. They're stashed in one of the shelves, and he locates them quickly, moving around some other parts so he can reach them. He takes one in each hand and, turning around on his heels, hands them to Tony with a grin. "Here ya go, two more Litesabers," he says pleasantly. "As you can see, they're in blue and green. I mean, if you truly want another color, just let me know and I can get it fixed up in a jiff." All the fix truly requires is a different piece of filtered paper over the light, so it should be no problem to do it right then and there.[break][break] Tony asks if he's got any other surprises. He thinks on it - he's actually got a lot of stuff in his shop, but none of it is truly remarkable. Though there is one that he made years ago that he's not used in a very long time...[break][break] "I've got a potato gun," he admits. "I don't have potatoes with me, but we could head out to a more remote area and fiddle with it a bit at some point." He quite honestly would love to use it again - it was quite a lot of fun, even if the only thing he ever shot was trees for safety reasons. He wonders belatedly if it's a bad idea to share it with a guy who seemed to want to throw his confetti bomb. Oh well, too late now.
Since he didn't have anything he could use to carry all three swords at the same time, he set them aside on the table for now. He'll remember to bring them along when he was done hanging out in Matteo's workshop. Or Loki could remind him if he forgot. Tony could always count on his familiar to watch out for him.
"Thanks Matty! I'm sure these are fine as they are, but I'll find you when I want a color to be changed." His siblings did have their favorites. After the initial surprise and excitement passed, they'll probably ask for it. "Or when they need a fix," he added as an afterthought. Which no doubt will happen eventually. He hoped it wouldn't be too soon.
The word potato and gun together made Tony's eyes widen in childlike disbelief. That invention definitely sounded like the best thing among everything he'd heard of so far. "Can you change it to fire anything the size of a potato? I think I've got a couple of balls at home. Or we could make a tiny ball made of old, useless rags. What about a water balloon? Or maybe a makeshift ball to prevent it from popping too early." Of course, he wouldn't want to buy potatoes only to have them go to waste. They were delicious, especially if turned into mash potatoes or chips. Unless it was for a prank. Sometimes the expenses were worth it.
"We are definitely going out to try your potato gun soon! Just not today. We can gather materials and make preparations for it first. Also figure out what else we can fire with that gun." He wasn't even thinking of any magical, practical uses that the gun could provide. All of this was in the name of prankingscience!
