Raven wants to pity this man, but she can't. "Aw, that's so sad," Raven says mockingly. As of this moment Mr. Alesso looks like he wants the earth to open and swallow him, just to get away from Raven's snide remarks. If you think about it it would be really easy for the man to kick them out, but apparently he knows not to mess with the witches he has asked to provide protection for him and this goddamn party. Wise man.
Then again it might be just because of his personality. Just look at him.
Mr. Alesso shudders before answering Jelly's question. He looks conflicted, and Raven pipes up. "Tell us the truth. We don't want any downplaying here, that's the least we need."
The man nods, agreeing, as he gets the book. He puts it down absentmindedly and begins fiddling with the pages. "She never touches anything. She would not demand any gold or trinket or a statue. However she insults me and my family saying we are corrupt and cruel. She comes in different outfits every time, different hair color, only her voice stays the same. That of a raspy old lady. She has visited the household for so many times..." That is when he flips open the book and starts looking at the dates. He flips several pages, runs his index finger to the script. Raven sits up, interested suddenly. She has no interest in his sob story.
"Let's see... it has actually... been just around... ten times this year." He squints, looking to his left as if thinking. "That's odd... I haven't been counting but I swear it has been twice as that... This year she has been so adamant about scaring my family, I can't believe it has only been ten times!"
"Argh!" Raven rolls her eyes. She looks at Jelly utterly defeated. She shakes her head. "It seems his memory has also been failing him."

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
It seems that Mr Alesso is broken out of his trance once Raven remarks about his situation again, and as usual, it's always snarky. Jelly pouts as she turns to Raven with a look, but doesn't comment anything as she turns back to Mr Alesso. The pinkette listens intently as Raven urges him to answer Jelly's question earlier. The man seems conflicted, but there can't be anything left right now if he wants to get this party going safely without the witch interfering.
We need all the information we can get. So please tell us.
Then Mr Alesso explains that she could never touch anything, or demand anything. Only she would just insult them and scare them as much as possible. The pinkette nods and hums in understanding, about to say something when he suddenly proceeds to try and recall the dates when she had attacked.
Somehow something was off, but Jelly didn't budge. She let him tell the two that she'd attacked them ten times this year, but like said, something was off and Mr Alesso mumbles that it was twice as much as that. "Are you certain about the dates?" Jelly asks again.
The pinkette turns to Raven, who rolled her eyes and commented about the man's memory. "Oh come on, Raven. He's traumatized, maybe stress was making his memory foggy." She told the other witch with a small chuckle. Then she grinned and whispered something in her ear.
"Or maybe... someone tampered with his memory?"
...That might not be a joke. It is possible, after all.
Post by raven delacroix on Aug 27, 2018 6:55:25 GMT
Jelly is right. Someone may have tampered with his memory. This a witch they're talking about, after all. And a powerful one, to boot. Someone creepy too. "I can't be sure as well..." Raven manages.
In the corner of her eye Raven sees the goth maid's eyebrow twitch. Raven stares at her, then. She has been unresponsive throughout this ordeal. Why the sudden reaction now? Did Jelly also saw that?
Meanwhile Mr. Alesso closes the book, eyes squinting trying to remember. "Spit it out," Raven says, and Mr. Alesso shakes his head. "The dates written on the pages are all correct. But it seems... some are missing. It says here--" he taps the leather cover-- "that on January she visited only once, wherein on my memory... my eldest daughter was here then... and that time when it was snowing..."
The man continues to mumble. Raven takes back what she says. He actually has a great memory. Maybe it's the secretary's fault. "Three times," Mr. Alesso speaks again, his voice sure now. "In March, the book says nothing of a visit, but I was sure she came by twice. One is during my eldest granddaughter's birthday. The other is during the sunset. We were at the balcony... and we saw her carriage..."
Right. Raven frowns. While he is talking to himself Raven leans over to Jelly and whispers. "Something's wrong," the white-haired lady says. "He remembers all, yet the book missed it. I don't think his memory is altered. An inside job, perhaps?"

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
Everything was getting complicated and complicated as more information is being processed. Raven isn't sure about Jelly's theory, and so is the pinkette now that she thinks about it. Mr Alesso seems very sure with his answers and doubts about the dates. He continues to speak, and Jelly starts listening to him once more.
She notices Raven turning her head to the side from the corner of her eye, then figures out that she was staring at the goth maid. Did the maid do something? Of course, she wasn't talking much. All she did was stand there and give the book to Mr Alesso, is all.
...Something is off. Again.
Before she could think about it properly, Raven interrupts her train of thought when she whispers to her. Mr Alesso is still speaking about the dates the witch had visited him. Raven tells her that something is off, and thinks that his memory isn't altered. "Come to think of it, I already think so, too." She whispers back, then raises an eyebrow. "He remembers, but the book doesn't have those dates. It may be because he hasn't encoded it all, but something is off if that's the case..."
Once Mr Alesso is done speaking, he looks at the witches and expects some more questions. Jelly does have another question. "Did you encode all the dates in this book, or did you forget? If you did forget, it may be the reason why it isn't there." She asks, pointing at the book.
Mr Alesso nods frantically. "Y-Yes. I've been very sure to encode all the dates she had visited us. I'm not sure how... how it all disappeared. But I was very sure I wrote everything."
The goth maid on the side's blank stare turns into a small glare. She coughs and bows at Mr Alesso. "Master, I must go and attend to matters in the party. Please excuse me." She proceeds towards the door, and Mr Alesso simply nods.
Jelly raises an eyebrow and turns to Raven, whispering to her. "Kind of in a hurry, hmm?"
Post by raven delacroix on Sept 24, 2018 13:48:59 GMT
Raven nods in agreement. "Yes, that, too. It couldn't be possible for him to forget to log it. Maybe the servants' mistake? But then again he is the head of the household, everyone is supposed to follow him, carefully at that..." her sentence trails off as Raven tries to make sense of what is actually happening. She knows what is happening, but somehow she just can't find the missing puzzle piece.
Jelly further interrogates Mr. Alesso, while Raven stays silent this time. Her attention has all left the goth maid and is entirely on Mr. Alesso's shaky but sure voice. There is no mistaking it. Something... or perhaps someone, has altered the dates. And it couldn't have been Mr. Alesso. No, someone else.
The maid's blank eyes suddenly glare, and Raven eyes her until she gets out of the room. Matters to attend, but what what is there to do? Who is there to serve? Her master is here, at this room. And Raven is pretty sure Mr. Alesso hasn't asked her anything.
"Definitely in a hurry," Raven agrees. She meets Jelly's blue eyes with her pink ones squinted. She whispers in the smallest voice she can, even cupping a hand over her mouth for Mr. Alesso not to read her lips. "Can she do that? It seems... really fishy. Let's keep an eye out to her."
Then, in a louder tone, addressed to Mr. Alesso. This time she makes sure to speak in a soft, reassuring voice. Admittedly she is not very good at it as Mr. Alesso looks more deathly afraid of her even more. "What is her position, exactly? I don't think she just can excuse herself like that. I mean, you haven't given any orders to her."

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
The air around the room suddenly feels strange as they talk more about the dates and if it was truly correct or not. She hears Raven's opinion, but does not say anything more after that. What could've happened to the dates while they weren't working? There were so many questions, with very few answers to the mystery--
Jelly asks him more about it, and after he gives his reply, the maid excuses herself and walks out of the room... in a hurry. Raven also notices this and talks to her about it, with the pinkette nodding. Turning to the master of the house, she suddenly sees a fearful expression on his face after the maid leaves. "...Mr Alesso?" She waves a hand in front of his face to try to get his attention. "Mr Alesso? Something wrong again?"
He cuts off his trance and blinks at Jelly, before scratching his head with a chuckle. "N-No, no, of course nothing..." He replies, but somehow Jelly could still hear doubt in his voice. "Not... at all..." His sentence trails off to a faint whisper as he says it.
Raven asks him more about the maid, and Jelly nods before turning to him expectantly. The man sighed and adjusts his glasses. "Yes, she's... one of the head maids. She could always excuse herself after asking me about it. There's a party going down there, after all." He says with an uncertain smile.
...Jelly feels like he's lying about it, though.
Maybe too confused about what really is the truth.
However, she does not question him further. She turns to her partner with a small smile, though still unsure. "Raven, you still got any questions?" She asks the white haired diva. "We gotta let it all out and gather some information before we leave to join the party."
Post by raven delacroix on Oct 4, 2018 2:44:53 GMT
Raven squints. Well, whether Mr. Alesso is telling the truth or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Raven shrugs her shoulders. "I guess I have no more questions. We better go."
Mr. Alesso gulps, then nods. He still looks pitifully confused, like nothing makes sense anymore. Ironically, he is the head of the house--theoretically everything should be in his control, but no, he has to be like this. Raven stands up slowly then, taking her time to lift her butt off the comfortable cough. She stretches her arms, and arches her back to loosen up the tense muscles.
"We'll be right back," Raven says to the man. "Come on, Jelly."
She is about to leave the office when Mr. Alesso suddenly stands up. "Be-be careful out there," he whimpers. "Please keep us safe. Remember she is but an old witch, or rather, she should be..." The white-haired woman has no answer to that but a slight, absentminded nod. She remains, however, just to give time for Jelly to say something, or perhaps to say nothing at all.
That marks the end of the conversation, and Raven pushes the doors open and walks to the grand balcony, where one can oversee the preparation for the elite party. Servants are running around smoothing things up, as the guests are scheduled to arrive five minutes from now. They look like ants from their place. She tries to spot the maid from before, but it proves to be impossible with the distance. "We should definitely look out for that maid," Raven says. "She's fishy."
This will be such a change in routine... Usually she's the one throwing parties, if not, she is the main star of the party, performing on stage. "Think we should mingle with them right now?"

Raven declares that she does not have any more questions, and adds that they go now. Jelly blinks at the other female before nodding in agreement, standing up from her seat as well to follow Raven out of the door.
The master of the house still seems very nervous, but he nods anyway and smiles. Trying to conceal his fear... nice going, sir. She muses to herself, but admittedly she could also add that he wasn't doing a great job at it. After Raven reassures the master that they will be right back, she urges Jelly the second time, with the pinkette nodding again. She turns back to him a brief moment and waves as she makes her way to the door. "We'll take care of this. At least... try to."
She stops when Mr Alesso tells them few of his last words, maybe a good luck to the witches. Jelly's eyes glaze over to him with a seemingly determined aura in her eyes. She'd keep the house safe, that was for sure, but she wouldn't be able to do it all alone. Especially to a witch this level.
Jelly hears Raven's voice once more, and she nods. "We'll be right back, sir. Let's go."
They finally get outside of the office; too be honest, Jelly hasn't recognized the house anymore after those long hours of being in that room. Raven then tells her that they should watch out for the maid, and she nods in agreement. "Yes, we definitely should. She's already making herself suspicious from the time we got to the changing rooms, honestly." She looks at Obelisk and smirks. Looks like they're thinking the same thing.
"Sure, let's get to work." She responds to Raven's question, smiling at her before making her way towards the stairs.
Post by raven delacroix on Oct 20, 2018 19:21:00 GMT
Jelly's comforting words seem to do the better job than if Raven did it. What they would see last before the door shuts is Mr. Alesso's grateful expression, and oh, how Raven hopes everything would go smoothly.
Then the pinkette mentions that the maid has already started acting weird back in the changing room. Raven looks at her, take aback by the information. She didn't notice at all! "That would make sense," Raven agrees. "I didn't notice at all, but yeah, she's being suspicious." They know now who to look out for, but have no idea what action to be especially aware of. Would they pounce when she does things outside of her scope of duties?
The hall is absolutely bustling with activity. Right before her eyes the most minuscule things change the bigger picture. Everyone is working smoothly, and to be able to mingle with the rest of them, they also need to work hard. Jelly heads for the stairs first, and Raven follows closely behind. As they further descends down the great stairs, the more chaos Raven sees. Every little detail of it. Some are silently working, some are shouting, some are idle only to be roused to work by some fuming headmistress. Being unfamiliar with this kind of work, Raven does not know where to go.
As soon as she sets foot on the main hall she is immediately separated from Jelly, swept by the a group of maids moving a table to its designated place. Everyone around her is working while she is left idle, lost and confused in the middle of the preparations...
For about a minute, until a blond maid taps at her shoulder. Raven looks at her. "Y-Yes...?" she asks. The maid looks at her sternly, before shoving a whole bunch of red, hopefully thorn-less roses at her. "Put a flower on each table, at the very top of the bouquet of flowers." Raven has barely time to nod before the blond maid hurries off.

It indeed makes a lot of sense now, and Jelly is glad Raven has realized it; the pinkette simply nods, not looking away from the stairs as she descends. She does make sure that Raven is following her from behind. She is, though, so she has no place to worry about that right now. Jelly knows Raven is capable enough on her own.
For herself, though... she would like to think otherwise.
The main hall is crowded, very noisy, and very chaotic. This is something that Jelly couldn't possibly bear, but a mission is a mission and she could do nothing about it. She feels like she needs to tell Raven what they should do should they catch the head maid in the act. Jelly turns around, Raven almost disappearing into the crowd. "Raven," She calls out, but her voice is barely audible with all the noise. She tries to mouth it out to her with a little of her voice, though. She needs to hear this.
"Raven, if you catch the head maid--" She is cut off when she is finally separated from her by the other maids, and she herself is found lost in the crowd. "Raven?!" She calls out, turns her head, but there is no sign of the white-haired girl anywhere. However, Jelly knows she is somewhere in the crowd, so there is no need to worry--
Jelly almost yelps in surprise when an unknown hand suddenly grabs her to the side. Her eyes widen and she blinks up to the stranger, only to find a long-haired brunette looking at her seriously. Her uniform is similar to hers and to Raven's; Jelly suspects that she is one of the true maids working for Alesso.
They stare uncertainly at each other for a few moments before the brunette finally speaks, pointing over to a few maids and butlers struggling to lift a table up. "Help them set some tables over there. They would be needed for Mr Alesso's speech later on." She instructed, pointing to an opposite direction.
Jelly is left with no choice but to nod. She signed up for this after all. "A-Alright." She almost stutters, making her way towards the struggling servants.
Post by raven delacroix on Nov 2, 2018 12:21:52 GMT
Raven swears she hears Jelly somewhere, even though she can barely hear herself breathing in the middle of this noise. No one is shouting. Everyone is speaking in a whisper, or in their normal voices, yet somehow, it's noisy. Raven is used to noise--she has lived with it in her entire life. She basks in it. So she can't quite grasp why this noise irritates her. She keeps looking for Jelly as she squeezes herself in between people, making her way towards the nearest guest table.
Godly irritated, Raven huffs and decides to focus on her task. These roses smell good, and they're thorn-less, too. What was handed to her is a whole bouquet of red roses. Raven estimates there is about thirty flowers in this bunch alone.
"Excuse me, excuse," Raven mumbles. She picks one flower and reaches for the vase. Then she delicately places the rose on top of the bouquet. Its stem wedges itself perfectly in between the different flowers, and the flower itself sits beautifully on top. All right, twenty-nine more to go.
As she does her rounds, several maids has tried to order her around. But being a diva she is, she declines each--HA!--by saying she has a very urgent task to do. She tries not to be too much of a bitch about it, but what can she do? All the while she keeps her eyes peeled for the sight of pink hair, and pitch black hair. She does not have much success to the latter, however, she does the former task perfectly. She is almost afraid to finish it... she does not want to do more...
Raven peeks at the grand clock perched on the wall--supposedly, the gates are about to open for the guests in about fifteen minutes. All right, fifteen minutes more.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
She hears it almost everywhere, almost every corner of the main hall... the servants urging and ordering each other around, telling them what to do, what is supposed to be done, and commenting on the things that had already been done, pointing out the wrongs and rights of the finished product... and this is exactly what Jelly hates. It's the noisy atmosphere that annoys her. But then, sadly, for the mission, she needs to live up with it.
"Hurry now, hurry," Maids who happen to bump into her yell at her, all while they are carrying chairs like herself. She wants to scream back at them, tell them she's doing what she's doing, but she knew she is in no authority to do that. These maids and butlers have higher standards than anyone and they were just following instructions, she understands completely and wholly.
...And by instructions, who has been laying them out--
"Alright, everyone, gather round," A voice echoes around the hall, and everyone's heads -- including Jelly's -- turn to where the stairs are. And there she is, the gothic maid, the so-called maid in charge of the house, and their primary suspect as the witch who struck terror to the Alesso House. Too be honest, she wants to question everyone around here -- even the boss -- why they hadn't caught her yet. But then again, they don't have any proof.
The others gather around as instructed, except Jelly, who simply stands with the now-standing table beside her. The gothic maid looks around from where she is standing, a large space contrasting to the tight space the lower maids and butlers are. Then, she closes her eyes and opens her mouth to speak, that same quiet and sullen tone yet a hint of superiority in her voice.
"The party starts in 15 minutes, ladies and gentlemen, so everything better be ready for the guests tonight. Chairs and tables should be set up, flowers set up nice and clean, and you, yourselves, the hosts of this party, neat and tidy and all fixed up. Now, everyone. Back to your stations!"
And as soon as she says that, everyone hurries back to their work; some even arguing over what had been done wrong by another. Jelly blinks while staring in disbelief at the gothic maid, the hand on the surface of the table already closing into a fist. There is a better chance this woman would use the maids to her own will, but what can she even do about that? There's no way she and Raven could stop a mob this big, but granted with their abilities, she hopes that at least they can--
The gothic maid suddenly turns to her and grins eerily, Jelly shivering from where she was.
She was taken back to reality, though, when a butler bumps into her and glares.
"What are you doing, standing around?! Get back to work!"
Post by raven delacroix on Nov 8, 2018 13:30:37 GMT
All right, one last flower. It's hard to keep track of the tables, but somehow Raven manages. She spends almost two minutes just wandering around holding the last flower, trying to find that one table which does not have a rose yet. At long last she finds it. It's at the front, a place which subsequently gives Raven a good view of the head maid barking instructions for everyone.
Raven glares openly. Thankfully, the goth woman does not notice, instead, she is too busy giving out her little speech to get things ready. Raven listens intently, aware that she also has to play her part in this one hell of a grand scheme.
Kind of ironic, Raven thinks. She's the one who is arranging the party, yet, if they are right, would also be the one to completely destroy it. Of course. It's the perfect act. Build something up from the ground for someone, and then subsequently destroy it to ruin someone else's reputation. Good gracious.
Having no master, Raven simply drifts to the sides. She stands there, settling in, just waiting for some other maid or butler to find her and order her around. A minute, then two, suddenly five minutes have already passed, yet no one bothered her. Right, everyone's already holding their positions. The noise subsides, ever so slowly. Ten minutes before the gates open, music starts playing. The soft piano testing filled the room.
Now that everyone is calm, Raven starts to look around for Jelly once more. She figures she should know at least where the girl is... you know, just in case something unusual starts, something which would definitely happen. And then a much louder voice echoes throughout the room, and Raven whips her head to that direction. A butler seems to be scolding someone... with pink hair.
Well, hello there, Jelly. Raven smirks. She hopes the girl is doing fine.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
Jelly stood there, dazed, confused, not knowing what to do as of now. Her mind is drawing a blank, and she blinks, trying to tell herself to keep calm and help herself deal with this guy. The fist withdraws itself and turns into a hand with fingers tapping against the plastic surface of the table. Blue eyes stare back at brown, glaring ones.
...Then she starts glaring at him herself. "What, you trying to tell me what to do?"
She receives an annoyed grunt from the butler, and his glare on her intensifies to a whole new level. "Look, I know you're new here, and you don't have any idea what's going on." Anger management issues, she notes. Something worth the time to annoy him later. "The boss' wetting his own pants because of this dangerous witch and he's asking us to just let this be the best party ever, and you're here doing nothing but standing around--"
"I perfectly know everything happening around here, thank you very much," She interrupts the young man, raising a finger to silence him. She's been to the boss' office with Raven just a few minutes ago, after all, and he'd talked to them about so many things about her. Sadly she shouldn't tell him about stuff they had discussed a while earlier, so she has to live with it. "And I was just about to bring this table over to the living room. Does that sound like doing nothing to you?"
The butler is silenced for a few seconds, staring at her in disbelief; she is amused to finally see him close his eyes and stomp over to the table. "You're glad you're a girl," He grumbles to himself, and Jelly could giggle all day at that. "I'm gonna help you just this once. You better do the rest once we get there, though."
She sighs and smiles, amusement clearly in her eyes. "Yes, sir," She simply answers while following him, an amused expression still on her face. Turning her head, she could see a certain white-haired woman just sitting around, seemingly doing nothing as of now. Jelly could pout at that. Here she was, following a butler who seems to love ordering everyone around, and there her partner was, simply sitting with no one to order her--
Jelly's eyes widen when she sees the gothic maid approaching Raven with a blank look; she couldn't make out what she was saying, but it was too late to hear more of it; the butler had turned a right and he pulled Jelly over to him, pushing the table ahead.
She was left to wonder what the hell that b*tch could be doing next.
The gothic maid looks over to Raven, hollow eyes blinking at her before finally, she speaks.
Post by raven delacroix on Nov 17, 2018 6:29:15 GMT
Raven watches Jelly and the butler exchange spicy words, at least for a while. She smirks when Jelly actually talks back--like damn, that girl got fire. Raven is bitchy, she won't deny that, but she won't exactly answer to a higher-up, with that tone, at least. Like now... she actually wants to wave her arms and cheer for her partner and say something like, "YES QUEEN DON'T LET ANYONE ORDER YOU AROUND BOO." Raven bets Jelly would appreciate that.
Before she can debate whether to do it or not, someone has the audacity to finally order her around. Unfortunately, Raven recognizes that dead voice. Composing herself, Raven turns to the goth maid. She meets his freezing gaze with a warm smile. "Yes, where to?" she asks. The maid then turns around and heads for Merlin knows where. As Raven follows suit, she turns to Jelly's direction, hoping to catch her eye with a very irritated look on her face.
If Jelly would indeed catch her gaze, she would move her thumb vertically on her neck, and then would point at the maid who is walking in front of her with her back turned. Yeah, that could mean several things, and to be honest, but what Raven really means is that... if she could kill, she would, especially if it's one head maid.
Soon the maid leaves the function hall, and enters a particularly empty room, save for a few dusty boxes at the corner. "Close the door," the goth says. As if. Raven stands just outside the door, refusing to enter. With a restrained tone, and in between grit teeth, she says, "May I ask what brought us here? The party is about to begin, and you--we--should be there."
The goth maid does not have any response, instead she stares at Raven with piercing eyes. Raven takes a step back. Yep, yep, oh my Merlin this is absolutely dangerous. The woman looks downright angry--Raven's hands itch, and it burns--the Knight is ready to fight. That burning sensation she knows as adrenaline spikes her heart rate, as the maid finally opens her mouth.
"I have an idea on who you are looking for," her sated voice says. Raven takes on a burning breath. "Yeah, who?" Isn't it you?
Outside, the distant sounds of grand gates opening begin to flood the place. The party is starting.
