this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
It wasn't the quietest of nights. There was noise blaring from behind her, a large building -- mansion, if you will -- and lots of people were packed inside this said mansion. It was the Alesso Household, maybe one of the richest ones in town that she didn't even give a shit about.
She stood there, alone, outside of the mansion, waiting for the other witch to arrive. For her, it was certainly annoying already; waiting outside and waiting for a witch that she didn't even know, mind you. Jelly tapped her foot impatiently, though managed to smile at the visitors of the household passing by to enjoy the night.
Okay. So I have to repeat myself for this.
A grand party is to be held in this household, blah blah blah, everyone is invited... and this party pooper is somehow gonna show up later. So then the Alesso Household has called me and another witch to hunt for this lady, which has...
She took a glimpse at the paper handed over to her when she had arrived in the Leviathan coven's office.
...Crimson hair, a wicked smile, and a...
She couldn't help but stifle a laugh.
...tattooed calf? Really, this witch must've messed with its familiar!
She set the paper down and huffed. Turning her head left to right, she checked if there was any sign of other witch; either the enemy they are going to face, or the other witch who would accompany her in this mission.
Luckily she brought her fishbowl with her which contained Obelisk, to keep her from getting bored of waiting and for him to somehow be of some use to this mission.

"Wow," Raven says dryly upong seeing the grandiose mansion of the Alessos. It's impressive, but still mediocre when compared to the complex of the Delacroix family. Raven puts her chin on her palm, elbow resting on the bottom window sill of the carriage. Dai has reminded her not to attract too much attention, thus the simplistic carriage that is currently carrying her to the mansion.
They're close, and Raven sighs as she retouches in the last minute. The moment the carriage stops, she pushes open the door and hops off. "Thank you," she says to the chauffeur, and then the carriage is speeding away.
There is a pink-haired girl waiting by the mansion, and Raven looks around.
No one else.
So it's probably her.
To be honest she does not know what to think of this mission. Her whole life she has been the one served upon, and now, she is reduced to being a servant. Her family is wealthier than today's client, too. The girl is exasperated of course, although she knows the reason why exactly she took this mission.
Yeah, right. It's because she's a witch, starting from the bottom. She has to work her way up, and it's not easy. No one is handing her a silver plate, not to mention she is having so much trouble mastering her affinity. What a hassle.
Raven reaches the girl, then. The Knight is wearing a simple get-up of gray pleated long sleeve turtle neck, mini skirt, and black boots. She is pretty sure that their 'maid' outfit would be provided inside the mansion. Raven holds her hand out to the pink-haired woman before her. "Raven Delacroix. I know, I know, must be a surprise to see someone like me here. But it doesn't matter. Let's go inside and just get this over with."
And so, Raven leads the way inside, pushing past through the watchful guards.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
Jelly hears a carriage from nearby stop in front of the mansion, and from it, a familiar-looking lady emerges. Jelly tilts her head and squinted her eyes to see if the young woman was who she thought it was. Then again, she had no interest in celebrities and rich people. Knowing their names is just a waste of time.
For a moment, she thought she was yet another one of the Alessos' party guests. She looked like one. But then, as the young woman walks up to her and her appearance is more visible under the light, she then realized who she was.
That other witch. My partner for this mission.
The other witch introduces herself as Raven Delacroix, then tells her how someone like her could be in here. She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Was she complaining about being here to complete the mission? Well, it wasn't a surprise for her, since she looked like a celebrity pretty much, but who cared about reputations right now? They had a mission to accomplish, and that is that.
However, Jelly smiled genuinely and didn't say a word. She shook the out-stretched hand offered to her by the other witch. "The name's Jelly Parim. Nice knowing you, Raven." Then, hearing Raven tell her to get this over with, she nodded and agreed to her sentiment. "Right. Let's come on in."
She followed Raven into the mansion, where the guards eyed them suspiciously. She turned to them and opened her mouth. "Jelly Parim and Raven Delacroix. Witches in a mission here, fellas." She told them, which was answered by the guards nodding their heads.
Once inside, she stared in awe. "Some party." She mumbled. Then she turned her head around impatiently, gripping on Obelisk's fishbowl tighter. "But where do we go? If I remember clearly, a maid is gonna fetch us and guide us into the room where we are supposed to change." She grumbled, tapping her foot. "Seems like the maid is kinda late."

Oh. Another one who doesn't know The Great Raven Delacroix. She should have known. Heath had made it pretty clear that she is not that big of a name than she thought she is. Most of them does not even recognize her face or her name. Something tells her that the reason is more than just the minuscule number of her fans (compared to the population of Sundial). Something else that nags at the back of her brain.
Something she has realized for quite a while now. Something she has not yet fully accepted.
"Jelly," Raven apprehends the woman from head to toe. She looks decent, pretty pink hair flowing, but that fish bowl distracts her. Raven eyes the fish suspiciously, a small thing hovering and kissing at the glass bowl. "That must be a hassle to carry. Is that your familiar? Does he like the bowl so much?" This is the first time Raven has seen a familiar behaving like a normal animal. It's odd.
That, unfortunately, is also Raven's first thoughts of the said pinkette. She wants to kick her for dropping her name so easily to the guards, and Raven hastens her steps as to not attract any unwanted attention. When they're safely inside the relatively large reception room, Raven faces the girl and looks at her levelly. If somebody is to recognize her with her last name... the white-haired girl simply would not have it. "Tonight, you'll call me just Raven, okay? If they're someone who knows me out there at the party, our mission would become way too complicated."
And it irritates her, not being able to just spill everything in one go. Raven just can't spill her identity that easily.
"Um... excuse me," a monotone voice speaks, and Raven turns her attention to the maid. In her white uniform with black frills and black boots, the servant looks like a gothic lolita. Her dark eyeshadows and her bun really matches her outfit. But, it doesn't seem to fit in the vibrant, colorful mansion. Once again, Raven stares in disdain. "I do hope our motif is not... that," the Knight scoffs. "Now, where to, Miss Muppet?"
It's not the maid's name, but whatever.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
Jelly looks around the house, then hears the woman beside her -- Raven -- mention her name before asking if her familiar's fishbowl looks to be a hassle to carry. The pinkette raises an eyebrow before turning to Obelisk's fishbowl, where the said sea bunny was already grumbling to himself -- possibly about Raven's remarks about his fishbowl. The pinkette giggles a bit before smiling. "Oh, Obelisk? Don't worry. I can handle him." She replied, nodding to herself. "Besides, I don't wanna go on my first mission without Obelisk. He always insists on going with me whenever something like this always happens." She then winks at the other witch. "And yes, he loves his fishbowl."
Another woman's voice suddenly rings into her ears, making her turn to see a rather sullen-looking woman that looked like she was wearing gothic-lolita style clothes. When Raven remarks about the motif, she nods in understanding. "Y... Yeah..." She simply mutters. Once Raven asks the maid where they should be going, the maid signals for them to follow her, before turning to the stairs that led to the second floor. Jelly points it out to the other witch before running over to follow the maid.
They were led to a large dressing room, where lots of dresses where hanged on racks and mirrors lined the walls. Jelly stares at awe before turning to the maid, who stops next to a chair set beside a large vanity. "These uniforms will be the ones assigned to you for the night." She tells the two witches, with Jelly nodding in understanding before taking the dress.
The pinkette only tilts her head, unfolding the dress and holding it up with the shoulder sleeves. "Huh. Seems decent." She simply remarks, Obelisk humming in agreement in his fishbowl.
Post by raven delacroix on May 20, 2018 9:21:08 GMT
It really seems uncomfortable, if Raven is to do it, but if Jelly says so, then who she is to argue? She is just the famed celebrity, the star of Sundial, who had blessed countless conferences and advertisements. She is just someone who belongs to a high-class family, managing thousands of revenue from a long-lost religion. However, she does not have a tiny fish as a familiar, and does not have to tote around a fishbowl. Raven is fine with that.
"All right, just... be careful, I guess," Raven says, taking one last look at the grumpy seabunny before turning her attention to the approaching maid. She leads them to a large dressing room... which is, unfortunately, still smaller than her wardrobe alone. Gods, the Alessos are looking more and more insignificant in her eyes.
"Right," Raven says dryly. She hands them the uniform, and Raven does exactly what Jelly did--holding the dress at the shoulder sleeves, an arm's length away. Decent... You know what, the white-haired woman would not complain. It's still plain, but then again, that's what maid uniforms are. At least this one seems to be specifically designed for identification in the party.
"Dibs on the first changing room," the female says, making her way towards one of the smaller rooms. She secures the sturdy curtain before putting the uniform on. It fits, magically and surprisingly, and Raven figures it must be enchanted to fit all sizes. She turns to face the mirror, and unsurprisingly she looks good. Leave it to Raven to rock all outfits, even the plainest ones.
She goes outside with her old clothes, already folded, and hangs them. She turns to see what the pink-haired woman is up to. Who knows if she does her face first before dressing up... But then again, they won't really need to be flashy today, would they?
Probably.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
The Leviathan witch looks at the dress from head to toe, raising an eyebrow at the curious design of it. It was the typical maid outfit, like most of the dresses she had seen from the television or simply those walking around the town, but there are quite a few differences. First, it looks quite moody. Second, she wasn't saying it wasn't pretty, but it was quite a sullen one too. And third...
...she liked the style of it.
Raven announced dibs on the changing rooms, making Jelly turn to her and nod. Well, let the Knight get to her wardrobe first before anything else. She sighs and waits for the other witch to finish suiting up her uniform. Jelly sits down on the chair that was being placed by the folded dresses before, then turns to the gothic maid.
Both were silent in their position for a moment, before the maid sighs and shakes her head. "I'm glad... that you have accepted this mission." She states quietly, turning away from Jelly's questioning gaze. "That evil witch... it has been haunting our household for years and years on end."
Jelly tilts her head. "You mean the uninvited guest?" She then suddenly gulps down. "How... dangerous is she, anyway?"
The maid sighs and finally turns her head to stare at the Leviathan witch. She was totally serious about this witch business, Jelly notes. "That witch has struck terror into the hearts of many, not only to the Alesso Household. For us, she was the most powerful of the evil witches who had ever passed by here." Then a reassuring smile replaces the doubtful look on her face. "But knowing you both, I'm sure you can take her down in a whim."
At this statement, Jelly laughs nervously and scratches her cheek. "Ehehehe... yeah, right..." For one, though, Jelly was quite nervous to meet this said witch. Raven, she was sure, was going to quite leave severe scratches because of her rank, but Jelly was still a fledgeling. How in the heck could she defeat a witch that level?
...Well, still, that was according to the maid.
What if that said witch wasn't even powerful at all, just the same level as them (or at least at Raven's level)?
Post by raven delacroix on Jun 9, 2018 9:22:29 GMT
Raven emerges from the changing room completely dolled up... or so she wishes to. Unfortunately for her, today's mission requires her to be completely inauspicious, someone who melts in the background as some measly servant. In a way, she can do that... but at the same time she can't. But maybe if she chooses to, specifically, she can.
She's a mess, what do you expect?
Raven sees the pinkette and the goth engaged into some sort of conversation... Jelly looks downright uncomfortable while the maid tries to look as reassuring as possible. Raven raises an eyebrow and approaches them. "Hey, I'm done," Raven calls to Jelly as she pulls a chair for herself. The maid then looks at Raven... and immediately her expression morphs into a dubious one.
"I have seen you," she deadpans, and Raven sighs. Great, she has been recognized. Raven feels somewhat proud that she had reached an audience who actually remembered her... but also, ugh.
"Well, you definitely did." The woman folds her clothes neatly before shoving inside her bag. She is about to ask the woman of the conversation she has with Jelly while she is changing, but the maid speaks first. A fine eyebrow twitches constantly as the maid speaks with her monotone voice.
"I have to ask, why is a celebrity wasting her precious time to heed the Alessos' request? I simply don't know how a starcaller would fare against an evil witch, regardless, you have my utmost support." And she says that with such a straight face, Raven almost blasts her off this building in an instant, but no, she has to civil. She's a Helios Knight, for Merlin's sake.
The white-haired starcaller crosses her arms over her chest, and looks at the maid straight in the eye. "You might be surprised as to what I can do," the woman muses. Her crimson eyes burn brightly, piercing through the maid's empty stare. "I am more than just a pretty face."

Jelly wanted to ask again about the witch she and Raven are going to face, but then her partner for this mission emerges from the changing rooms, making her turn. "Oh, hey Raven," She then eyes the dress and grins. Looks like she's done changing.
"Wow. Looks good on you," She said, but her expression changes as she approaches Raven and whispers. "Though I have to be honest, I'd rather see you wear a brighter colored dress than this one. But still, looking good," She winks and grabs her maid outfit, then makes her way towards the changing rooms. "Well, I'm off."
Upon entering, she sets Obelisk just beside her from one of the corners of the room and begins to change. While removing the clothes she had worn for the day, she hears the voices of both Raven and the maid from outside of the changing room. She raises an eyebrow curiously. They seem to be in a conversation that -- Jelly was pretty sure -- would not turn out good in the end. She sighs silently, shaking her head, before finally wearing the full dress altogether.
"You certainly are not, mistress," she hears the goth's voice from behind curtains. This doesn't show any feeling at all, as usual. "I am sorry if I have offended you."
She emerges out of the changing room with Obelisk's fishbowl strapped to the side of her shoulder, and her clothes on her other shoulder. She smiles at both women and nods. "Well, I seem quite decent with this," She comments about her dress, twirling around on all fours.
The maid nods, but there was no real spark of admiration. "You look good on it, mistress," She compliments nonchalantly, and for a moment she thought the maid was just a big ball of nothing outside. Does this woman even have any emotions or anything?
Once both are done changing, the goth nods at both of them and turns to the door. "Mr. Alesso requests for your presence after you change, so it would be wise to come to him now." She tells the two, still standing by the door in case both of them doesn't follow her.
Jelly raises an eyebrow and shrugs, then turns to Raven. Well, time to meet the boss around the house.
Post by raven delacroix on Jun 24, 2018 3:02:45 GMT
Well, she always looks good, but she have to agree with Jelly. This color doesn't suit her as much as the brighter ones. Her eyes and face are much too expressive for this dullness, her movements strong and firm for such a limited design. Ah, she has to adjust and match the outfit it seems. She pirouettes and picks at the dull-colored sleeves. "Eh," she shrugs, then. "We'd rock this emo outfit for sure. I'm not really sure how your pink hair with do with these colors." Oh, and speaking of hair, the Knight is thinking of putting her white hair up into a bun.
As Jelly disappears behind the curtains Raven is left facing the emotionless maid. The maid pulls back from her degrading comment a while ago, and Raven ignores her completely as she does her hair. Jelly emerges from the changing room just in time for Raven to finish the do. She leaves side bangs and fringes to frame her delicate face. The maid says something but Raven chooses to ignore her once again.
"Hmmm. It doesn't look bad," Raven comments, and begrudgingly adds, "It looks better on you. Perhaps if I add a lack veil the look would be complete."
When Raven does not heed her request the maid takes it upon herself to lead the two witches. She opens the door for them--a clear sign. Raven sighs and follows suit. So they're going to meet the head of the household, huh. The maid leads through grand hallways and expensive corridors, passing by doors of golden handles and intricate designs. The mansion has three floors with a grand open space at the middle. It's clear that the whole first floor is dedicated for the events alone, along with facilities to attend to guests. The area is buzzing with activity as the affair is due to start in two hours.
The master's room is, unsurprisingly, at the top floor overlooking the whole house. The trio has to ride an elevator-like machine to get to the top.
"What do you think will he be like?" Raven whispers to Jelly.

Time flies fast, Jelly knows. But in this situation they are in right now, time doesn't fly fast. In fact, it seems to have been pushed backwards a bit ever since they got in the household. She nods and mutters a "thank you" to Raven at her compliment about how she had looked in the dress, before then turning to the maid who instructed them to come with her to the Alesso Main Office. Holding tight to Obelisk and swinging the fishbowl strap over her shoulder, she follows Raven and the maid out of the door.
The Office is over at the very top floor of the household, and they have to ride an elevator-like thingy to get to that said floor. She turns to Raven once the Knight wonders and asks what the man might look like. Jelly hums and tries to think of a fitting description for the said man. "Hmm... I'd say, about forty-plus years old, tall one at that. Might be an isolated one as well. I mean, why isn't he attending to his guests right now?"
The trio would now be in front of the elevator, with the maid turning to them while pressing the buttons. "This is the device that will lead us there." She said, Jelly scoffing at this. Thanks, Miss Obvious, She heard Obelisk retort from his fishbowl, making her giggle for a moment. Then the elevator door opens and Jelly is the first to get in.
They travel in the elevator for a few minutes, and Jelly doesn't say anything, but once the bell rings, she turns her head upwards before noticing that the door of the elevator opens again. She turned to the maid, then to Raven with a small smile. Then, without saying another word, she runs up to the big doors of the office and looks over to the maiden, who opens the door with only a push of a hand.
Then the big doors are flung open, and the witches would first see the boss of the household. He doesn't turn around, but a small chuckle was heard before he spoke.
"Welcome, witches. I am the owner of this household, Mr. Alesso. Again, welcome to my humble abode."
For a moment Jelly could hear his voice shaking as he spoke.

So the head of the House is the same old stereotype of rich old men. "He better be not a sugar daddy. That would be so creepy," Raven says, disgust evident in her tone. The maid does not react to any of her words, which makes her wonder if she's speaking the truth. He's not that old, though, but he might as well be. The trio alights the elevator, and the maid ushers forward and pushes open a grand door. Raven lags behind as Jelly and the goth maid ushers forward.
Surprisingly, the room is cozy enough, relaxing even. The interior is easy to the eyes and Raven is immediately comfortable. The old man is sitting on his simplistic chair with his back turned to the witches. Maybe Raven is just hearing it... and she shots Jelly a quick glance to confirm her suspicions. There is an insistent sound in the air of something tapping... nervously against something. Maybe it's a habit?
When the duo is safely inside he finally turns around and orders in his deep baritone, "Close the door... and shut it tight," which makes Raven even more suspicious.
"Why?" the starcaller has the guts to ask. Raven does heed his request before pushing forward and scrutinizing the head of the Alesso Household. The man is of a thin build, black hair carefully swept, face not betraying any emotion. He stares at the woman, and recognition glints in his eyes. "Oh, and we're taking a seat, if you may, your highness." Raven tries her best to sound sincere, but she can't fool anyone. Raven flops on one of the couches. The seat is even comfier. Raven can even sleep here.
"Thank you for coming," Mr. Alesson says. There is a relief in his tone. "Please, keep this event peaceful. My relatives are visiting the town after so long, and I wish to attend to them gracefully. However..." he shudders. "That damned witch just won't leave me alone."

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
The pinkette couldn't help but agree with Raven's statement about the boss just a while earlier while they were in the elevator. Sugar daddies are creepy enough. But what's creepier is their child having a secret crush on them (Jelly kept this to herself, though). She then concentrates on the scene played out right now, Mr. Alesso asking them to close the door, and tightly, even. Jelly had the same question as Raven had, though with their situation right now, there probably wasn't any need for a question. Mr. Alesso doesn't seem to answer to this question, though. He simply stared with hidden fear in his eyes.
She decides to sit with Raven on the cozy couch just in front of Mr. Alesso's desk, and before they knew it, the man was thanking them for coming to this party and pleading them to keep this said party peaceful. Jelly was in a mood for some peaceful aura right now, so this might be an easy job. But with the boss mentioning that witch again, she couldn't help but feel startled herself.
"Mr. Alesso, who exactly is this witch?" She decided to ask, since there is in no way they were getting anywhere if they didn't ask right away. "What problem does she have with you?"
It was clear in his eyes that he didn't like these questions. But he answered them, regardless. "...I don't exactly know who this witch is, but she had made so many appearances to me and to my family for years I couldn't count now." He cleared his throat before continuing. "We haven't done anything bad to her, as long as I can remember. But this witch has been terrorizing my family before I was even born. I don't know for sure if my ancestors have done something, but this might be why she is here right now."
The pinkette nods and hums in acknowledgement. She then tilts her head and raises an eyebrow. "Does she specialize in anything tricky?"
Mr. Alesso hums thoughtfully, and only then nods shortly after. "I do not know for sure. But according to my uncle, she is a master of disguise."
From behind the walls of Mr. Alesso's office, the gothic maid grins quietly with a malicious glint in her eye.
Post by raven delacroix on Aug 6, 2018 10:30:40 GMT
Jelly proceeds to the questions immediately, and Raven listens intently. It's not hard to imagine a witch terrorizing a certain family. It has happened quite often in the long history of witchcraft. And what else could be the perfect moment to ruin the Alesso's reputation than disrupting this prestigious event? It all fits together, except for one missing piece.
What exactly does this witch aims to achieve with this? After eons of terrorizing the family, they should have gotten what they want now. Why continue? And is this even the same witch as before? "When's the last time she has bothered you?" Raven asks, leaning forward. "If it's possible we would like to get the dates the witch has paid you a visit."
Raven squints when she hears that the witch specializes in disguise. Ah, this would be hard. What a pain in the ass. "Oh, you don't say?" Raven says sarcastically. "Might be the reason why you haven't caught her yet, eh?"
Ugh, this is getting better and better. Mr. Alesso looks ashamed. He realized that Raven is right. In a hush, he beckons the goth maid forward and tells her the duo's request. With a perfect poker face the maid rummages through the huge bookshelf at the back of the room.
While they wait, Raven rants again. Her angelic voice floods the spacious room, whining. "You're right. Your family must have done something bad to the witch. Which should be your karma, honestly. But okay, we will try to keep your little event intact. Gotta be good for the guests."
The goth maid has found the book. She holds it gingerly, mana pouring to the pages from her sickly pale fingertips. The words jumble and the numbers rearrange. She turns around and drops the book to Mr. Alesso's table. He wouldn't notice--he's crippled with fear.

Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain't gon' smile if I don't want to Hey man, we all can't be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My
Raven asks Mr Alesso further about the witch's whereabouts, making her nod and stare intently at the man. He sighs and rubs his two thumbs together, seemingly nervous as he answers the question. "L-Let's see... a-a few weeks ago. She'd visited us just a few weeks ago." He stutters, his voice shaky as he sighs. "Sh-She scared my children... my staff... everyone. That's why my precious daughters are out with their grandmother today. Hopefully they'd be back without the witch in the house."
Jelly nods and hums in understanding. Before she could say another word, though, Raven beats her to it. Mr Alesso looks quite ashamed by this comment, making Jelly turn to her with a look. Ooo... mood. She hears Obelisk from the fishbowl, making the pinkette tap it rather harshly.
Coughing, she chuckles nervously and turns back to Mr Alesso with a sheepish grin on her face. "I-I'm sorry about that." She said, coughing again, before turning serious once more. "Only a few weeks, then? Aside from scaring you and the staff and children, has she done anything else? Like, to your neighbors or belongings, for instance?"
After asking that, she turns to the maid and raises an eyebrow as the goth approaches the boss of the house with a large book. She tilted her head, watching the book cautiously. Mr Alesso spoke to her seconds ago, seemingly about getting the book, but Jelly didn't remember anything about requesting for this said book. Instead, she just shrugged and turned back to Mr Alesso.
Only to see that fearful expression on his face.
"U-Umm... sir?" Jelly calls out, blinking a few times with uncertainty. "Y-You... you still holding up there, sir?"
