this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Aiden didn’t quite have many friends, per se. As a child, it hadn’t really been the focus of his life. Sure he knew people and played with a lot of kids…but he fought with them a lot too. Those fights left his relaitonships frayed at the edges and when it came time to join a coven, picking the Helios Knights had virtually snapped all those frayed strings tying him to kids in the Hovel. He didn’t care though. What was a few shitty friends when weighed against the entirety of his magical career, and virtual revenge quests on his deadbeat dad? Nothing. Not even a few fuckin’ copper pieces. Fuck ‘em. Fuck the lot of ‘em.
These sentiments aside, it was safe to say he was not only rough around the edges but also had a bit of a…disadvantage when trying to befriend people in his coven. Although it came slowly, he was proud to have garnered himself a couple of people he could call friends. He was also rather surprised at the surges of protectiveness that bubbled dangerously in the pit of his chest. It was a hollow feeling of sadness that slowly but surely burned into something fiercely angry, righteously angry. Angry that good people, and more importantly. his good people that had become so important to him. It hit like a truck but he followed that feeling. He tried to be a good friend.
That feeling had materialized the day Charani Petrov had fallen in the Empyreal Cup. It happens again when he sees líng lù-xī sobbing before some stranger outside of Whiskers and Wands. He stops in his tracks, not meant to catch the sight. He had been walking home with a few groceries. Or well, some things he’d ask Charani to help him in the kitchen with, but his errand was forgotten. He couldn’t make out the words, but he could clearly see she was crying and while others gave this odd couple on a bench wide berth Aiden’s dark green eyes were focused so intently, he could’ve stared holes through concrete. He doesn’t know what’s happening. It’s not even his business. But when Ling leaves and he is unable to offer consolation he turns his attention to the boy…and he makes a bee line for the brunette. His small form shoves right through people, ignoring their protests as he marches up to the boy.
The bench isn’t tall; he lifts up a leg his left arm bent as he held his grocery bag. His foot hits the back of the bench with a loud thud, but he’s not looking. He’s glaring menacingly at the boy. “What’s your name, Guy?” he asks every word cold and strained as he reigns back his tongue with professionalism. "While you're at it want to explain to me why you were harassing an underage girl?"

Ling has left. He lets her leave first. She should be able to have the pride of leaving him, not the other way around. It'll be harder to move on. A clean break, right, that's what she needs. Percy's eyes linger after her figure, until she completely disappears from his sight.
He misses her already.
Dumb fuck. You know these will completely disappear tomorrow. Stop thinking that you miss her. You know it's false.
His consciousness is harsh sometimes. Percy stays by the bench for a few more minutes. He tries not to think about Ling too much. What is she doing now? Is she crying? Percy can't stomach the fact that he's the reason for her tears. Why does he have to be like this? What if he continued to fake it? Would that be better for the both of them? But he's only prolonging the inevitable, isn't he--
Percy's eyes widen as he scramble to get out of that wild foot's way. He almost face plants, but luckily he manages to catch himself with both of his hands. His mind is slow to catch up with the sudden burst of action. "What the heck?" He struggles to right his posture. "Hey, watch your words--" but he is cut off with that cold stare. What did he do?!
An underage girl...? Since when? He has never... wait, this guy...
Percy rolls his eyes heavenwards, then. Oh, he recognizes this one. What a nuisance. The brunette finally sits up straight and holds his hands up, shaking his head. "It's a misunderstanding, Aiden," he emphasizes the last word, glaring. "That--she is my--she was my ex-girlfriend. I was in no way harassing her."

The redhead doesn’t show a sliver of concern for the other witch, feeling as far as he’s concerned that any and all things that felt uncomfortable today would be well deserved punishment for making a little girl cry. Ling was alright, and probably leagues above him when it came to intelligence, but he still knew she wasn’t his age. He was only a little older but even then, she still felt incredibly childish and immature. Then again, he didn’t think he knew her well enough to determine that accurately but at the moment that wasn’t important. She’d cried, and he had watched this asshole make it all happen. “Watch. Yours.” He retorts trying to keep himself from lifting his leg again to kick Percy on the side of the head now that the witch was in range.
Percy stands taller than him, and Aiden is irritated further but he glares back unwilling to break eye contact. “So, you admit to inappropriately involving yourself with someone too young for you then?” Aiden spat back, raising his eyebrows in mock surprise. He reaches for a name in the back of his memory. Right, one of the witches he had tried to protect during that weird Metnal shit. “How old are you again, Percy?” he asks, as McKenna materializes next to him for support. “The correct answer here is: Too Old.” She supplied, voice soft and eyes blind. Her ear twitches as she feels an almost stifling anger coming off in waves from her master. She tilts her head towards him before the boy carefully hooks his grocery bags to her horns.
“Harassment of a minor, possible inappropriate relationship with a minor, breaking and entering-” Aiden lifted a hand as he counted off Percy’s offenses past and present offenses. “Signs of a possible record, as well as loitering is a public place where they can be an abundance of teenage girls running around…it’s not looking good, Guy.” McKenna bobs her head from side to side as she tries to adjust to the added weight on her head. “Got anything to say for yourself?”

Okay, just what is happening? It's just slightly past 11AM. What do they say nowadays? Right. It's too early for this bullshit. Percy struggles to remain calm as Aiden continues to wrongly accuse him. Can he sue him, now? He is harassing an innocent boy (at least of this false accusation) who has done nothing wrong with Ling, except for making her cry, but hey, it's part of love. It's not harassment.
The familiar has the audacity to butt in, and Percy glares at the both of them. "I am but a young man of the age of twenty. Yes, Ling was younger than me, but consent was given," Percy reasoned out. He has the perfect alibi, if only these two crackheads would listen to him. "Listen, if both parties consented to the relationship, then harassment is out of the question."
Then Aiden starts recounting his supposed offenses to the laws of Sundial and Percy almost has a heart attack. Did he know? The redhead rattles out several of his "crimes" including loitering around places where girls are to be found, and all along Percy maintains his composure until he is finished. Thank Merlin, none of the Leviathan's shadier business are mentioned. The illusionist exhales. "Glad you asked," he retorts sarcastically.
He holds up one index finger. "First, this is ridiculous. Second, I'm not a creep who stares at young girls, like, I know I'm good looking and all but I still have manners you know. Third, you have no proof, so if you can just, slowly, go away in peace then maybe..." Percy starts scooting away from Aiden and the gazelle, trying to worm his way out of this tight situation, literally so.

He’s feeling particularly ballsy today as well as particularly irritated. Aiden tries not to smile when he notices that he was starting to get on Percy’s nerves. Good. He was intent on causing the guy as much discomfort as humanly possible. “She’s just barely able to give consent. You’re not any less disgusting for your actions.” Aiden rebuts, grimacing at Percy’s response. “How do I know you hadn’t been preying on her before she was even legal?” he added suspiciously. Ling was very smart of course, but, even if Aiden had no experience himself, he really doubted Ling’s ability to pick up romantic advancements. She was too focused on other things. Mainly runes. Lots of magic runes. Percy had to have been ‘working’ her for a while. It made him angrier he’d made her cry.
Aiden is silent as Percy pleads his case, but he’s not really sympathetic to it. He was right though; he didn’t have proof anything serious was going on, but there were ways around that. He’d made a young girl cry; that enough was highly suspicious. “I have reasonable suspicion that you were harassing a young girl, just barely able to consent. But if you’re so confident in the fact that nothing was going on, you won’t mind if we head back to headquarters and you answer a few questions, right?” the redhead pressed. He didn’t need to arrest him, just severely inconvenience him. It was all he could really do to avenge whatever weird feelings Ling had for this prat. Sorry Ling.
Besides, if he could drag him to HQ, he could check if Percy was wanted for anything.

Ugh. Seems like this guy won't give up until Percy's arse is at the Helios Knights. Which he couldn't afford to be. He'd rather be killed than brought to the Hall. He could probably pull off the referral system... perhaps someone there still recognizes his father... his deserter father. Okay, perhaps that is not the best solution. Aiden continues to speak nonsense, and frankly the boy is tired of reasoning out to the smaller male.
He tries to return the accusation. He gasps, visibly shocked. "Are you saying Ling isn't capable of making decisions by herself?" Percy says, disbelief in his voice. He shakes his head, looking problematic. "Man, I have a feeling you know Ling. And I do, too, and I'm shocked you ever think of her that way. If Ling knew about this..."
Percy shakes his head. How can he even say that... Percy does involve himself with the black market, but he can say now, he would never trespass basic human rights unless it's for the sake of someone dear to him. His moral compass still points to the bare minimum of righteousness. He crosses his arms. "I didn't. And I would never. I'm a law-abiding citizen and you are an assuming, accusing Knight. These are the only facts here, and nothing else."
Percy huffs at Aiden's next sentence. He knows this is coming... and unfortunately, he isn't that prepared on how to save himself from this ridiculously dire situation. "HAH!" the boy exults. He then resorts to attacking Aiden's integrity as a Helios Knight, if he even have any. "Sorry, I'll pass. Who trusts the police nowadays, anyway?"
The Leviathan crosses his arms and tilts his head to the side, eyeing the so-called Knight. "The fact that you just busted a nut without proof or prior intelligence makes me really doubtful on your abilities." A short pause, with a level gaze. "You can still redeem yourself, you know."

Anger feels his hackles raise, anger flashing in his dark eyes as Percy tries to turn this on him. This guy was slippery. Why had Ling ever hung out with this guy? Just imagining it made his skin crawl. 20. That’s what he’d said. Ugh. “You’re missing the point here.” He began, not really caring if Ling found out or not. He would tell her anyway. “It’s not that I don’t trust her to make her own decisions, it’s that I don’t trust you to have the best of intentions. Your admittance to dating someone you can just barely get with is concerning.” He continued, trying hard to keep his voice level despite his irritation.
“Law abiding? You were caught trespassing on a fairground in the middle of the night!” he retorted and holding back a harsh laugh. That only made him even more wary of the guy skulking around with Ling, much less breaking her heart for all he knew. Not only a criminal, but a jerk too. He almost bites off his own tongue as Percy raises his insults not only to Aiden, but to his own coven. He sees red just briefly and McKenna is quick to poke him, comically so, with the bags of groceries dangling from her antlers as she tries to make him settle down before a punch goes flying.
He balled up his fists so tight he cracked his thumbs. It’s even worse when Percy’s word of choice is particularly gross. Aiden stomps forward, easily closing the space between himself and Percy. He casts solidify as he does, rising to be eye level with the witch. The redhead points a finger in the brunette’s face, lips curled into a snarl before he speaks. “First of all, that was incredibly vulgar and considering we were just talking about Ling, gross. The facts are these.” He held up his fingers counting off as he spoke. “One, I personally witnessed a young girl, barely of age, leave you in tears. Two, you were previously seen trespassing, a crime. Three, we’re going to HQ so I can get it in writing what you say you did.” He took a moment before narrowing his eyes and desperately wishing he could just pop him one in the nose. McKenna watched on sighing as her witch struggled to keep it together. If he was so worried, maybe he should’ve gone off to find Ling instead.

Percy isn't about to be outdone by his obvious lapses in logic. The boy huffs indignantly. "It's the same," he reiterates. "We made the decision together, and she agreed because she knew me. You blaming just one party only does not save you, it only entails that you don't know both parts of the story and you're just making baseless accusations." Okay, he's ranting and probably is not making any sense, but hey, he's going over the line!
Him bring up the... other instance makes Percy cringe so hard his face sours immediately. He isn't trespassing, he's looking for his non-existent sister. Seriously, Aiden is whack. "Now you're just talking nonsense. That's another story, and that wasn't even proven. I thought you know your law? I'm innocent until proven otherwise. You--"
His sentence is cut short when he feels a whip of wind. Shit. Fortunately it's just a harmless technique, and Aiden just simply rises to his height. "You know," the Leviathan says slowly. He does not have to look down now. Quite impressive, but not needed. "You don't need height to validate your points, you need logic." He obviously does, just look at the redhead spouting "facts!" Percy wants to yell.
He isn't about to be technical here... He knows the law of Sundial, but he bets Aiden knows better. He just have to... Percy tries to act nonchalant. When Aiden started counting, Percy also gestures to do so. But his fingers never come up from the balled fist, indicating he does not acknowledge the so-called facts. He keeps his calm even when the redhead threatens to bring him to the Helios Knights. Aiden rising in "height" frees both sides of the duo from any obstructions (i.e., Aiden's pinning arm and leg) and so Percy scoots sidewards. "So, according to your facts, I can go now. Thank you officer. Your claims are all written in water--nothing is binding. So goodbye! Come find me once you're making sense!"

[attr="class","wonwoo"] “It’s not baseless when I’ve seen proof of you hurting her in some way, in a public place. Just because she was legally of age doesn’t make it any less creepy of you.” Aiden spat back. While the age gap wasn’t exactly anything much, in his mind, since it was Ling, Percy might as well been a 40 year-old wretch. At least, that was what the look he was giving Percy spelled out. He squints at Percy almost incredulous as he waves off his ‘tresspassing’ as unproven. “I literally saw you and a group of other people, trespassing. As in, being in an area you were not supposed to be after hours when it’s explicitly stated You Can’t Be There. There’s signs for it.” Aiden retorted. Unproven. More like not looked into because of all the other chaos that had been going on at the time.
He’d correct that. Aiden tried not to think of the jab at his height, but he felt his eye about to twitch at the other young man’s poking. It was less to prove a point and more just to assert that simply because the other was taller didn’t mean he couldn’t reach him. As Percy asserts by ‘his own logic’ that he was excused he holds back the urge to sock him in the head again and rattle the last two brain cells struggling to make connections with each other. He just said where they were going. Did he think he had a choice?
Aiden drops to the ground, landing easily enough. His hand darted out to try to grasp Percy’s arm. “We’re going to HQ, pervert.” He stated, almost growling at the other witch. He’d get Ling later. He wasn’t about to bother trying to track down her ex after today. If he was smart, he’d disappear after making Ling cry like that. She didn’t have much; she didn’t deserve that kind of hurt. Forget the fact that, Aiden was missing a huge chunk of context. It didn’t matter now. He hadn’t spoken to her yet.

[attr="class","comehome"]
Merlin, Percy doesn't really want to remember this now. That night is a stuff for nightmares and Percy barely escaped with his life. Well, Aiden did the chunk of work back then along with that punching lady. Jelly was there, too, but like Percy, she didn't get involved so much with the chaos. It's Aiden's job, he's a Knight. Meanwhile he (and Jelly) are Leviathans and they shouldn't have a say in this. "Now you're just jumping into conclusions. I was looking for someone that night and was just got caught with that mess. I gained permission from the park service!" That's right, that's what he said back then. Aiden's just an idiot.
The redhead doesn't budge still, and it's starting to irritate Percy. Just let him, he has places to be!!! He remains firm, though, even as Aiden reiterates they're going to the Helios Knights HQ. Nope, nuh-uh. Not gonna happen. At all. His current tactic seems to be working flawlessly. Perhaps it's time to hit the brake and take this slow.
"We're not going to your HQ, Mister," Percy says again, this time with more emphasis. He tries to wrench his arm out from Aiden's grasp, but he makes it so that it's not that strong to break the grip if Aiden doesn't choose to let go. Something to make him look like he's struggling. "Look, why don't you listen to me first? Hear my side of the story first? Cause you're not really doing that. It's my right."
[newclass=.comehome]margin-top:-128px;-webkit-box-shadow: 1px 1px 4px 1px #BFBFBF;box-shadow: 1px 1px 4px 1px #BFBFBF;[/newclass] [newclass=.baddisease]-webkit-transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;-moz-transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;-ms-transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;position:relative; z-index:1;opacity:0;[/newclass] [newclass=.everywakingmoment:hover .baddisease]opacity:1;-webkit-transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out;-moz-transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out;-ms-transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out;transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out;[/newclass]
As the brunette reiterated his story, he felt less inclined to believe him. He was sure of his sins. A good person didn’t have the ability to make Ling cry. She was like a living lie detector, flashing smiles at people who genuinely deserved it. At least it seemed that way when he watched her interact the few times he could. He doubted she had the capacity to mean, and any skepticism she had was reserved for runic experiments. Whatever the case, he was tired of arguing with the guy. As Percy declined the invitation, Aiden arched his eyebrows. What gave him the idea this was a request. He doesn’t give any slack his grip sliding it down from Percy’s forearm to his wrist. He then sharply pushed the pad of his thumb into veins while fingers grasped for the older boy’s hand to twist it slightly. The movement was meant to apply pressure instantly as the redhead circled behind the other witch ready to walk him all the way to the closest police station if he had to. He doubted someone at energetic as Percy would last the walk to HQ.
McKenna sighed quietly at the pair. This was more likely to turn into a petty wrestling match than actually getting any information. “It wasn’t a request.” Aiden corrected as his familiar nudged him with her head. “Aiden, we just bought groceries…perhaps let him talk where he is comfortable.” She suggested. Something which only worsened the redhead’s mood. He thought it over, prompting the usually silent gazelle to speak up once more in Percy’s defense. “We’ll see Ling soon enough. You have classes this week.” She added. They had first met the girl on their way to class after all. And if he was that worried, they could always pay a visit to the Jester’s Den. “Fine, what’s your side of the story.” Aiden finally relented, letting go of the brunette and shoving his hand into a small pack on his side. He retrieved a pen and notepad from the content of his bag of holding before handing them off to McKenna to hold for a bit.
“Since you’re still suspicious I’m going to pat you down, but you can…” he held back sigh, clearly irritated with the missed opportunity of throwing someone in holding for hurting a friend. “You may tell me your side of the story.” Which he would be noting down exactly to check in with Ling. “Explain, how exactly id you make an innocent young girl cry?” he asked as he moved his hands over Percy’s arms quickly, checking for anything sticking out suspiciously. He continued, moving in close to run hands briefly over his chest before proceeding down towards Percy’s front pockets, back pockets, and onwards to his legs. He occasionally made small comments to his familiar who seemed to nod as she watched the other boy.
Aiden doubted he’d even find a wallet. After all, Percy was here because he suspected the guy was a creep, not because he was carrying something illegal. But procedures and all. He wondered if Ling had gotten this close to him? Shame on him, taking advantage of nice girls.

[attr="class","comehome"]
In all honesty Percy has no idea how to make this idiot understand. But at least he's willing to listen now--but Percy's words might just pass through his ears. That's the type of guy he is. Percy casts a glance towards Aiden's familiar and is glad that at least the familiar has reason. Unlike her witch. Percy has to remember that Aiden is Ling's friend and for that reason he would have to be careful in phrasing his words.
Not that he has anything bad to say about Ling--Merlin knows it was him who decided that he isn't into the relationship anymore. Just like that. Ling has pretty good reason to feel terrible too--Percy could tell she had looked forward to this date. Of course, Percy has to break up with her on this date.
Pretty asshole move from him, yeah.
A minute ago he was ready to kick this brunette's ass. Now he is just sighing and scratching his head. The guy finished patting him down and all he would find is his wallet, keys, and some handy scrolls Percy always brings with him. "Well, I broke up with her." He gives Aiden glance when he said that. Yeah, that... that pretty much sums up everything. "We started dating a few months back. We have a date today, and I, uh, kinda broke the news to her today as well. I feel bad, okay, but even you, with that hard-head of yours, would surely understand its even worse to keep her hopes up. A clean cut is so much better than a prolonged hope."
Uggghhh he just wants to leave this place. He just want to be left alone. This guy is making it hard for him to do that. "That is my side of the story." Percy braces himself for the not-so-nice but well-deserved snipes from Aiden. Percy is just a sponge at this point--and he's fine with that, so long as this guy stops trying to put him behind bars. 'Making Ling cry because he broke up with her' is not a crime. It's a lifetime burden.
